  1. I wasn't talking about your post, it's just something that annoys me when I'm feeling pedantic.
  2. Nope, just in my free time. (I do biology at university) But I do know that Leeds is one of the best universities in the country for oriental languages... my cousin did Chinese there. So have fun!
  3. If I were being picky, I'd point out that I hate incorrect use of the subjunctive.
  4. I am sometimes afflicted by blehhhhh. I find the way to get rid of it is to do something that exercises your body and/or mind. (I tend to go for the latter )
  5. Hi there, nice to hear from you again even if it is only before you leave again. Philosophy and Japanese sounds like a cool degree to me... anyway, from your picture you look older... and more mature.
  6. That's a great book... I think it's the only non-surreal novel Murakami has written - he wrote it to prove that he could.
  7. This is true, but I nevertheless did worst in C1 out of all 4. (and in fact worse than in FP1 and FP2)
  8. I don't mind "color" much, but you've reminded me of something that does annoy me - "hemoglobin." Haemoglobin. Haemoglobin.
  9. I read Atonement... It was brilliant, I give it 9/10. I have yet to see the film. Currently reading Heart of Darkness, The Stuff of Thought, and Lessons in the Fundamentals of Go. (again)
  10. I'd say C4 is harder - C3 is mostly just making sure that your calculus is good. Then again, I forget what was in C4...
  11. Natural sciences, which at the moment means cell biology, evolution, chemistry and quantitative biology.
  12. Well, I'm revising for collections next week, which are sort of like mock first year exams, but only on what we've covered so far. There's an awful lot of revision to do...
  13. Hehe, my (ex) Chemistry supervisor sent me an email asking what questions he'd set over the holiday. Anyway, exams next week - if I'm online, I probably should be doing revision instead. Nevertheless, I spent this morning sleeping...
  14. You should buy cheaper tuna - the expensive stuff has a high mercury content. Anyway, going to university caused me to lose loads of weight. I suppose because I was working really hard and walking several miles every day.
  15. I have a backlog of around 50 books to finish reading, a load of games to finish playing, shows to finish watching, lots of kanji to learn, and lots of go to play. However, I have exams in a week, so I have to spend most of the time revising.
  16. I just improvise, and see what happens. It's all been good so far.
  17. You know, if someone hadn't rung me up to ask about Batesian mimicry at the crucial moment, I'd have locked this thread as soon as it started, as this kind of thing tends to encourage the glorification of banned members' deeds. But I let it slide, and now it's just turned into the same old thread I locked a while back, sans dynastygal. It is true that she went fairly nuts, but you guys are being pretty harsh to Shiekah and all so this should probably come to an end now. [locked]
  18. Well wild dogs are a different thing altogether - your bog standard dog is by definition a sort of domesticated wolf. So yes, I suppose the key variables here are degree and form of domestication - those dogs that have been bred simply to hunt foxes are likely to have a greater tendency for violence, whereas those bred to be lapdogs (like this discarded wig) are less likely to go for the jugular. However, I'm not even sure if many dogs would cope in the wild...
  19. Dogs are domesticated, there is no "nature". However, golden retrievers are indeed awesome.
  20. I like dogs, though I've never owned one as my mum is dead against them. Perhaps I'll get one when I'm older. In response to the whole instincts argument, I think some breeds have a greater capacity for violence etc. than other breeds, but this doesn't mean that you can't bring up a supposedly "violent" breed to act friendly. As for poodles, those tiny ones are annoying, but I have a friend who keeps some really awesome massive ones that sort of defy their own poodleness - they also have a non-pampered coat.
  21. Someone I know sent me a genuine picture of a chocolate pizza he found in New York... pity the site he posted it on is dead now, or I'd post it here.
  22. Not sure, but he still goes on msn. Mind you, I think the last time I spoke to him was to ask for help in Wind Waker a few days after it came out...
