  1. "Why do they have to complicate things?"... I could be wrong but from what I've read in interviews, this seems like Miyamoto's thing lately. As soon as I heard he was adamant about the second screen being integral to the experience I was worried.
  2. I love my Mii but I actually prefer the Avatars, they're pretty cute and the customisations are /amazing/. I got a Space Channel 5 tshirt and a damn Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg hat Same here, I loved PilotWings Resort SO much and I think a big 3D Mario is a must. I LOVE the Galaxy games but a return to the 64/Sunshine worlds would be amazing. In Sunshine you can always see another island from another part of the game, geographically relating to the whole of Delphino. I've heard Miyamoto wanted all the levels to be connected but couldn't due to technical limitations. I would personally LOVE to see that come to life, a massive Mario world with things to explore and do. I think it would, the Mario brand on titles used to work wonders but I think it can be a bit off-putting now. I love the fact Boom Street had Dragon Quest characters in it too and it's what caught my eye. Had it been just another full Mario cast I wouldn't have been so intrigued to check it out. And finally, WE NEED A NEW EXCITE GAME. Excite Truck is so much fun, it's a tragedy that it's been 10 years and we still haven't got an Excite Truck 2. Excite Bots was also crazy fun but I think the tricks and stunts went a bit far and took away from the racing too much. Truck was the perfect mix. That game online, holy crap, I can't begin to imagine.
  3. That's not Tokyo Toys by any chance is it? If it is I'll be hiding in there from now on, ready to pounce on you and take you to my cave.
  4. Oh man I'm jealous, L is amazing
  5. This is my gripe with the Wii U, I have a lot of games for it and enjoy them a lot but there's nothing ground-breaking. 90% of the games Nintendo have released on the Wii U could have been done back in the GameCube era with a slight graphical downgrade. But I totally disagree on your Spin the Bottle statement! That's a fantastic party game and one of the craziest uses of the Wii remote I've seen. Shits all over actual Nintendo party games like Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival. I agree with Smash, I actually think that's one of the few ambitious games Nintendo have done this generation, with their support for DLC and superb online, vast roster and bunch of new modes, it was fantastic. Pikmin 3 to GTA comparison is ludicrous though. GTA 5 was such an expansive game, that had scope unimaginable in the PS2 era, with a great story mode and fantastic online. Pikmin 3 however, whilst great, could have easily been released exactly the same back in 2006 on the GameCube. I don't see anything new or exciting there other than flying Pikmin.
  6. Starfox Adventures was the first game in the series I played so I totally loved it. I re-played some of it about a year ago and still found it enjoyable but I didn't get that far. I love that dinosaur speak. Also: NOBODY EVER BRINGS ME GIFTS ANYMORE
  7. Nintendo's main problem right now is lack of ambition. For some reason in the Wii era they slowly went from the majesty of Galaxy to 2D platformers. Now we have 2D platformers everywhere and if they're not 2D, they're semi-3D like Mario 3D World. 2D games don't appeal to kids and as the article said, kids don't need simple games, if it's appealing they'll happily step up to the challenge - as they did with 3D movement for Mario 64 back in the day. I don't think they need to totally change the way they are and ditch Mario and Link, they just need to be more ambitious, release a modern-day fully 3D Mario title, have more new IP like Splatoon and improve online. It's 2016, if kids are at risk online then the problems are gonna stem from their mass use of mobiles and iPads, not gaming.
  8. That sucks about Street View, that app was /awesome/, especially viewing places in a spinny office chair :p I have a lot of fond memories of me and my friend checking out the holiday resort we were gonna visit a few weeks before going. It also had highlighted tours for you to go on, some of which were really interesting. I checked out a Japanese monkey park and the inside of some underground anime club. I really don't get why people always shit on decent apps because they're not games or streaming services, this was being moaned about before it was even released. This one really doesn't make sense though, surely it just uses the same servers as the website? It's not like Google are gonna take down actual Street View on PC's / tablets any time soon? So I don't get the need to discontinue.
  9. I tried Okami back when it first released on Wii and couldn't get into it. As for TP, this just feels like daylight robbery on Nintendo's part. If this was a digital release for about £20 then fine but a full retail release for some new textures? They could have atleast added some damn fur to the wolf. Starfox Adventures looks better than this.
  10. Plans for Japan are coming together now and what once seemed like a distant dream is (scarily but excitedly) becoming a reality. My friend has all his money ready and is raring to go, I have most of mine but just need a few more pay days to have comfortable spending money and we've set down July as the month to go. So now it's just a case of me being sensible and not spending money on crap as I always do (or games I won't play). I've dreamed of going to Japan for years so this could be amazing but everything I do these days fills me with anxiety. I've just gotta remember that it's gonna be awesome and I shouldn't worry about every thing in the world ever. I MEAN ITS JAPAN OMG.
  11. Do you think this remake should be orchestrated?
  12. The new textures are nice but they're almost so nice that they make the low polygon count look jarring. I also think some of the atmosphere is lost in making it lighter and less foggy, I think that was part of the game, the moodiness and more importantly, all important smudge to hide the low detail of the environments. It's why I hate playing N64 games in HD, they look much nicer on an actual N64 with super low sharpness settings or, even better, on an actual CRT tv.
  13. @Sheikah I haven't actually, it was on my radar when it first appeared on VC but I forgot about it. I still have enough credit for a SNES game so I'll give it a go! It's a game I've been meaning to play for years
  14. Imagine if the amiibo was KRYSTAL. "Scan the Krystal amiibo to use her as an alt skin for Fox". Now that's the dream.
  15. That's true, I really wanted to like the Wii game but as the difficulty ramps up, the Wii Remote becomes your worst enemy. The thing I'll never be able to forget though is them boss battles... Ugh
  16. 6 dirty and washed out inches at that. Paper Mario TTYD is one of my favourite games of all time, I love the humour and it's the first RPG I completed. I wasn't that taken by Super Paper Mario though, couldn't bring myself to complete it. I haven't played Sticker Star and haven't heard great things either, I should probably reserve judgement until I play it though. With the games in decline, this being a rumour and the NX on the way, I'm not pumped in the slightest. I asked on Reddit, would Nintendo really put an unnanounced game on Wii U at this point? After they've been letting it die for 6 months and almost completely forgot about this thing called 'Christmas', if this game does turn out true I struggle to believe it will be a Wii U title, and if it is then I fear it will be of questionable rushed quality like Power Tennis and Amiibo Festival. I got down-voted to hell and lots of angry responses so I might get more levelled opinions here :p Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE for us to get another proper instalment on Wii U, I just really don't see it happening.
  17. I don't think that's true at all, as long as the controller has all the buttons needed, great games come from great software. Most of Nintendo's best and high quality titles come from the GameCube era, a controller that's about as conventional as they get for Nintendo. I think innovation comes from the power of the console. More power = more freedom to do whatever they want, an expansive and exciting world. For example, Metroid Prime was fantastic because of what the hardware allowed it to achieve. I'm all for them improving upon controllers they already have but there's no need to keep re-inventing the wheel. I'd say some of their new controllers have been to the detriment of some games. Super Monkey Ball has never been the same since it has had to use touch screens, Wii Remotes, balance boards and Slide Pads.
  18. Yeah, forget backwards compatibility, it's very under-used. Most casual owners of DS and Wii didn't even know about gba/GameCube and those that did were hardcore fans that still had their original systems. If it's easy to incorporate then fine, but if it means having to have an awkward architecture again then forget about it. Also, they HAVE to ditch the controllers. Trying to explain to my non-gamer friend who recently got a Wii U what controller she needs for different games is a nightmare. It's like 'don't get a classic controller as that only works with Wii games and some Wii U games, a classic controller Pro is the same but a PRO controller works with most Wii U games, party games you'll need a Wii remote, a normal one will do for most but... Wait, that game Nintendo Land that comes with the system? Yeah you'll need Wii motion plus for that.' A normal controller, like a pro controller with good triggers, that's all we need. Forget touch screens, gyro's, motion controls, fairy dust and stylus pens, it's all been done now and that era is over. (But next gen bongo's and Donkey Konga 4 I would welcome with open arms :p)
  19. I just shuddered at the thought of them 2D models in HD. Ah well, should still be fun.
  20. Slim Shady and an absolute CLASSIC. I haven't played it since I was like 10, it's a whole lot more Japanese than I remember. The characters and themes scream anime, I didn't know what that was back then though so it's no wonder I was in love with it. Playing it now I can't believe it's a Namco game as it feels like a mix of Monkey Ball (theme and music-wise) but plays so much like a Sonic Team/Kirby hybrid.
  21. Does anyone know if you can get GameCube to PS2 ports? I've found plenty of the opposite but nothing for what I'm after. I have a DDR Mario mix and third party dance mat for my GameCube and recently got a PS2, there's loads of DDR games that I'd be tempted to pick up for it if I can get those controllers working but don't really wanna have to bother with getting another double set of dance mats.
  22. I feel you there, Adventures is actually my favourite! But then i'm a sucker for Rare games. But that was my point, I personally like all the Starfox games but from a critical point and from what the main fans want, anything that de-rails it too far from the 64 and SNES is going to be sneered at.
  23. I've always heard the heated debate but never joined in myself because I actually don't know what difference it makes :p I'll pick up Mario Kart 64 for whenever I have another get-together, it's a shame they didn't release it a tad earlier as it would have made for a good Christmas/New Year party game.
  24. Yeah, we can only hope this one is well received. I've enjoyed a bunch of Starfox games but the SNES and N64 ones are the only ones that seem to have critical acclaim across the board, wheras all the others are hindered by weird controls or dinosaurs.
