Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 1st (2025)
Hero-of-Time replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, us JRPG fans are sitting pretty at the moment and have been for years. Those dark days during the 360/PS3 era where quality console JRPGs were few and far between are thankfully long gone. I had Trails of Zero down as one of my Pledge games but I doubt I'll start it now that this has been announced. -
I finally sat down and played this on Monday evening and finished it off tonight. That was after I had to go up the attic and hunt down my Joycon box to find the straps that I have never used before. Ridiculous that you need those things to play the game. Anyway... Yeah, stupidly short game. Unlocking all the mini games only takes 5 or so hours and without any individual high scores on any of them, the whole thing is really lacking, especially when you compare it to Get It Together! That game had stacks of content, modes and unlockables. The game still has plenty of charm though and I was howling at some of the mini games. I did capture footage of some of them but without the option to upload to Twitter, I'm not sure if I'll get to post them. The RNG certainly wasn't in my favour when trying to unlock the mini games. I spent 40 mins on one of the stages waiting for a single game to finally show up. When you're reaching levels 30-40 and you are still getting repeats of games you've already played you know you're being screwed over. Yeah, this is easily the worst of the moves that you need to pull off. It's so inconsistent and I usually lost a life most of the time it showed up. On the flip side, I was always ecstatic when it actually worked. Another one that caused me issues was Jimmy T's boss stage. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to flip those steaks to stop the burning. I was doing the actions but the robot hands just sat there. Definitely not worth shelling out full price for but people with others to play with locally may get more mileage out of the game. As a single player experience there's not a lot to the game and you'll be done in a couple of sittings.

It will be interesting to see how much effort has been put into these ports. I loved the original game but the loading times on the Wii were horrible. Hopefully that has at least been sorted in this version.

Crazy that this announcement was buried in the sizzle reel. Fans have been asking for ports of the older games to modern consoles for years but Falcom have done one better and remade the first of the trilogy. I expect the rest to follow. The Japanese Direct got a lengthier look at the game compared to what we got. The game looks to be using the XSeed script. I wonder if this mean Cold Steel 1 and 2 will finally arrive on the console?

Yakuza Kiwami on Switch (24th October 2024)
Hero-of-Time replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Game is a budget release at only $20. Still baffled why they didn't port 0 first. -
Yeah, Tech Romancer not being part of the collection is really weird and a little disappointing. It's a fantastic game.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince (1st December 2023)
Hero-of-Time replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Steam release on the way. Comes with all the DLC. Hopefully the performance will be a lot better. -
Yeah, looks it. Easy list though. Basically just need to play through the games and no need for collecting all the spirits/souls etc.

You live on your own, right?

Console was already struggling over there and now this. Not that it matters, Japan has been Nintendo Land for all of the Switch generation and will continue to be that once it's successor arrives.

Or for this.

I'm just reading the live report from Starmer's speech. Yeah, the October budget is gonna look pretty grim. In order for things to get put right, and for the country to get out of the hole it's in, he is going to have to raise taxes. What else can he do? Councils are going bankrupt and public services are completely down the toilet. I've said ever since the pandemic that people were living in a bubble if they thought the furlough scheme wouldn't have consequences down the line but everyone was too busy spending their "free" money to care. 4 years later and billions in debt, here we are.

It's definitely been overused over the years. I never hear up in the North East (what about you, @Ike?) but then I work with people mostly around my own age. A couple of years ago, Greg and John started using it on Masterchef when describing the food they were eating. It just felt like...
