  1. Round 3 Don't be afraid to take risks and invest in young new players from your youth squad. They could be the next generation of superstars. AFC ReZ’s Rabies 2 – 5 Bayern Bru It proved to be a case of having the right man at the right time as a closely fought match suddenly turned into a wipeout for the Rabies as Noa Brusling emerged a new hero for Byaern Bru. Sparks flew in the first half Alm delivered again for the Rabies to take the lead with a superb counter attack after ten minutes. Bayer had the run of play however and soon equalised with a fantastic freekick by Lindpere and claimed the lead before half time with a great opportunity from MacCalman. Things started badly for Bayern as the Rabies, knowing they needed to reclaim the advantage, pressured and forced a terrible own goal from Dahlin. Bru recovered and from among them came Brusling, winning and taking a penalty. Suddenly fired he up he went on the rampage, scoring first with an epic header and then slipping through the defence for the hat trick just before time. An epic performance winning him well deserved her status amongst fans. Cubic County 2 – 0 Emo Blades Cubic County finally got their campaign properly underway with a surprising and surely welcome win against the on-form Emo Blades. Cubic dominated the play, locking down the Blades offensive capability at every turn. Things simply never came together for the Blades as the suffered and early injury and struggled to create chances. The goals took some time in coming with Paddy Gould eventually claiming both for Cubic County well into half time, ending a long, long day for the Emo Baldes defence. The Sixty-Fourthers 2 – 1 Eight United The Sixty-Fourthers finally eased to their first victory of the season as Eights United continues to struggle woefully at the bottom of the table. This time the youth came through, Panadoplis striking home thanks to a great setup by captain Svendenius. A second goal before half time from vetran favourite Gobady seemed definitive. Eights came back hard in the second half, fighting for every chance but could only manage a single consolation goal seven minutes from time thanks to Alec Savanson’s heroic efforts. Recall United 2 – 2 Chelski FC Recall were starting to find the limits of their powers as the unstoppable force came up against the immovable object, Chelski FC. With thr run of play against them Recall United were all things considered lucky to make it away with a point. A pair of freekicks each way from Brammer for Chelski and then Whiteside for Recall kept things square until Ling finally lead a breakthrough for Chelski, setting an easy header for Cotino to take the lead. Things were running against the ‘League 2 champs but their luck held, winning a freekick and Rhian Deacon making the most of it. Chelski FC spent the whole second half on the offensive, punching through the Recall defence again and again but ultimately failed to find the back of net, repeated sighs of relief audible across the home stands. Most Important Result - Recall United 2 – 2 Chelski FC, Chelski finally putting the brakes on Recall United. Turned on Style – Cubic County pull through at a crucial moment. Player of the Day – Noa Brusling in absolutely peerless form for Bayern Bru.
  2. Launch trailer: Official UK TV ad:
  3. After a little research I settled on Villoresi Paddock, after Luigi Villoresi, winner of the first ever Grand Prix event held at Silverstone. I doubt it'll win, possibly too obscure, but I wanted to at least suggest something relevant to the circuits' history but also something not well known. Something worth remembering. The other possibility I considered was Farina, winner of the first official British F1 GP.
  4. Yep, already submitted mine.
  5. I know, but apparently the transport links around there are terrible. 50 crashes in two and a half minutes. Enjoy.
  6. I'm sure we'll organise something after it's out. It's up to 12 players per race which should be adequate. This is likely to be more simmy then Codemasters' other titles but it's going to be pretty scalable (optional traction control, anti-lock breaks, racing line, flashbacks etc.) Should be easy enough to pick up anyway. If you're desperate to play this with a wheel the PS3 is probably best because decent PS3-compatible wheels are generally more common and cheaper. There's a couple of good choices on the Xbox but finding one that you're not going to have to pay through the nose for is like discovering the lost city of Atlanta.
  7. Another good video, Hockienheim in the wet with the AI cranked up. The behavior of the opposition cars seems to be fantastically realistic, skittering about all over the place in the tricky conditions and battling at every possible turn. Also, driving in the spray of another car looks suitably insane.
  8. There's definitly no denying the impressive tech going on in there. It also reminds me as a 360 owner that I really should go get a nice cheap copy of Forza already. Maybe I'll wait till martinist gets this and play that on his PS3.
  9. Welcome to the Piranha Club.
  10. Fantastic gameplay video here on (going by the brand of wheel) what is either the PC or PS3 version of the game. It gives a pretty good demonstration of how the race can evolve even over a short distance, especially if you get too aggressive and just end up shredding your tires. Also, there are now reviews popping up online all over the shop, most operating in the 8 & 9 range. My personal favorite thus far being Edge Magazine's online posting, which gave it an 8/10.
  11. Round 2 Unsure of how to prepare for your next match? It doesn't hurt to take a peep at your opponent's last lineup. Chelski FC 3 – 0 AFC ReZ’s Rabies The Rabies found the limits of their powers today after facing a three goal drubbing at the hands of League 1 vets Chelski FC. The Rabies to their credit never settled back attacking and counter attacking again again to create good chances despite never holding the best of the possession. Ultimately they were simply overwhelmed by vastly superior opposition. Bramme scored a superb freekick straight into the net almost immediately with Alfie Hook scoring a superb header right on the stroke of half time. The Rabies never seemed to loose hope but simply had no answer and could only watch helplessly as Cortino made it 3 with another superb arching header over the goal keeper eight minutes from time. Emo Baldes 2 – 0 The Sixty-Fourthers Serious questions will be asked of the 64ers managements faith in it’s young players after placing the young up-and-coming Amange Bashur at the head of a 4-5-1 formation. With both sides demonstrating superb midfield and defensive line-ups and systems it came down to who had the stronger attacking force and the Emo Blades won through. First Shannonbridge scored a strong a header from a corner, then Piechink slipped a superb long range shot straight through the legs of the visitors defence. With only the young Bashur up front to play into space the 64ers failed to make the best of their chances and will now need to re-evaluate their estimation of when to send their young guns out alone after a poor result. Recall United 3 – 1 Cubic County It was another harrowing day for Cubic County as Recall United seemed to go from strength to strength in front of swelling numbers adulated home fans. It was a fairly lopsided game for neutral observers as all four goals came within the first half hour of play only for the goalfest to stop completely in the second half. Things were looking up for the Cubes as Vihko threaded through a great pass from Maupas to open the balance sheet. Their optimism was swiftly crushed in just another fifteen minutes as Gers, Streep and then Whiteside split the honours with one confident strike after another. Cubic counter attacked in the second half but were unable to find their early momentum, and ended another long day without any points to shoe for their effort. Bayern Bru 6 – 1 Bayern Fish It was billed as the Battle of Bayern at the Orange County stadium, but the first ever derby clash between Bayern Bru and Bayern Fish proved to be much more a one sided massacre. The Fish never really made it into game as their squad was run roughshod by a much more experienced side. It was six of the best from Bru stretched out over the full course of the match, most notably from Romeo Kit taking a superb hat trick, scoring the first two and then the final match of the game. Bayern Fish scored a single consolation goal thanks to Andrevi’s pluck but this was a serious lesson in humility for the still young side. Most Important Result – Chelski FC 3 – 0 AFC ReZ’s Rabies put Chelski FC ahead of the rest of the pack. Turned on Style – Recall United continues to punch above their weight. Player of the Day - Romeo Kit does most of the work in a dominating victory.
  12. Honestly, I'd be fine with James Allen coming back, I always thought he was fairly decent. While we're all here, here's the footage of the Hispania mechanic getting brained half to death at Monza (he's apparently still recovering in hospital) if you're feeling a tad morbid. Click the link and brace yourself, there's something particularly unpleasant about it. http://jalopnik.com/5638648/heres-one-scary-reason-being-on-a-pit-crew-can-be-hazardous-to-your-health
  13. Drat, a had couple of my less skilled players in there but a 2-0 defeat was baaad.
  14. The detail on the cars and drivers shown off here is breathtaking, including every tiny decal and helmet shake. Less then two weeks!
  15. An unexpected new trailer!
  16. Just added- Manic Street Preachers - Motorcycle Emptiness Ronald Jenkees - Derty I second this, maybe force folks out of their usual listening habits to find different stuff. I mean, Craig David, McFly and Missy Elliot? Really folks? REALLY?
  17. This just popped up on my Youtube subscriptions feed, and strikes me as timely.
  18. Round 1 It's a brand new season of Xpert 11 and anything can happen so stand by for ACTION! Cubic County 3 – 3 AFC ReZ’s Rabies It was a stirring start to the season as former Lower-League 1 Champions Cubic County took on the Rabies, still fresh from successful promotion after a strong runners up finish in League 2. Neither side wasted any time and both went on the offensive, Alm scoring first with a signature ranged shot for the Rabies with McGreal equalising shortly after with a confident header. The second half arrived with riot of thrills and spills, Maupas weaving through the Cubic defence to find the net only for Cubic’s Zellman to mirror the feat less then ten minutes later. This left everything square with twenty minutes to go and both sides tiring so when McGreal scored a lucky distant strike to pull the home side ahead that seemed the end of it only for Osmanovski to score a late header off a corner from Hallerstrom to leave the game 3-3. Bayern Fish 1 – 1 Chelski FC It was a slightly more cautious affair as the top performing rookies from last seasons ‘League 2 took on the former overall champions and recently renamed Essex Elites, now Chelski FC. Both goals came reasonably early in the first half and both off of excellent direct free-kicks, first from for Chelski and then from Hammarksjold for Fish. Neither side seemed to eager to break themselves so early in the season and played it cool albeit with a few bold attempts to leave the game drawn with an unlucky injury to Graflund of Fish the only other major incident. The Sixty-Fourthers 2 – 2 Recall United It was a solid and fairly clean match at the Gaggelion Megastad as last season’s runaway ‘League 2 winners Recall took on the mighty-fallen 64ers, still consolidating after being unceremoniously dumped from the top tier the season before last. It seemed at first Recall would not be stopped as Rex Holligdale burst through in just a few minutes to put them a head. However the 64ers soon regrouped and struck back before half time with a superb long range goal from Dilchad Osman. All things seemed equal in the second half with neither side finding an advantage until Brett Whiteside scored a superb freekick straight into the net. All seemed lost as the 64ers were held by Recall’s iron defence until veteran Latif al Rikabi punted a cross right onto the head of the youthful striker Bashur to equalise just before full time. Final score 2-2 with Recall United promising danger to established opponents. Emo Blades 4 – 1 Eights United The only definitive result of the opening round proved to be a complete slaughter as the visiting Eights United were smashed by Emo Blades in front of cheering home fans. For the whole first half the Eights had no reply as the Blades struck again and again, piling home no fewer then three goals before the whistle from Dent, Agirre and Shannonbridge respectively. Things got even more heated in the second half as the Eights found some piece of themselves and made a gallant fight back, Yusri scoring a confident close range shot early after the whistle and could have had another were it not for a badly missed penalty by Gresdhal. A pair of red cards as tensions flared were dispensed before Piechinik scrabbled through to finish the game 4 – 1 to the home side. Most Important Result - Emo Blades 4 – 1 Eights United, the only decisive result gives Emo Blades a head start. Turned on Style – Recall United refuse to rest on their laurels. Player of the Day – Hubert Zellman leading from the midfield to keep AFC ReZ’s Rabies in contention.
  19. That was raw brilliance from beginning to end, a thriller both as a race and in terms of the championship. Silly and disappointing from Hamilton after a great win in Belgium, don't know where the Red Bulls fell away to and an epic, epic, epic battle between Alonso, Button and Massa. To borrow the words of Murry Walker "This is classic, bish-bang Ferrari-on-Mclaren racing." Awesome all the way. Best season in generations.
  20. Frasier is basically the ideal of everything I wish to be. My absolute favourite episode is the one where Frasier gets "outed" after being seen in a gay bar and finds himself the object of the affections of a top opera socialite, played with brilliant panache and flirty enthusiasm by a Patrick Stewart who is clearly having tons of fun. Brilliance from beginning to end.
  21. Gentlemen, I originally picked the number 3 which I see from list hands Recall the grand prise. Bravo!
  22. Coolness, I think you and I should get married. It won't be one of those gay/traditional marriages that everyone talks about. It will be a marriage of convenience. Convenience and trusted property rights. You are lonely bears, I are a lonely gaggles, apparently doomed to wander without someone to honk at (as robo-geese are wanton). So let us marry, have mindless sexual affairs with others and then retreat into each other's arms where sanctuary will be found in bonded law. Of the rest of you I ask, would you wish for anything more? Tally-ho Silver! *Gallops off into the mist*
  23. Two films that I love are City of God and Carandiru. Both Brazillian movies with a similar vibe, though I don't believe they share many cast or creative team members. Carandiru is about life in a Brazillian favela prison, focusing on an incredibly diverse and involving cast of characters in a highly pressurised world. From hardcore gangsters to petty crooks to hardcore gangsters who also happen to be transsexuals. It's just sublime. You come out of it feeling like you've lived several lives all at once. If you liked City of God (and if you didn't, I'm legally required to murder you) Carandiru is definitly worth hunting down. If you've not seen City of God, life itself is probably a far worse punishment then anything anyone can inflict upon you.
  24. What you're looking at is the future Retro. The engines that F1 will be running in 2013 - small capacity and turbo charged with a full suite of electric energy recovery and management systems (integrated into the engine itself, not a separate system) - is what every new performance car will be running out with by 2020, and F1 is the spearhead for that technology. Car manufacturers such as Volkswagen and Hyundai are believed to be interested in investing in teams specifically for the purpose of marketing the new, road-relevant technologies. They're also planning to start lowering the limit, year after year, on the amount of fuel and number of engines allowed, forcing engineers to find ways of producing more and more efficient & durable engines. The goal is to have each F1 car using half the weight of fuel to complete a GP. The parameters have changed, from the pursuit of raw speed to finding the common ground of speed & efficiency but I believe this will create more innovation in F1, and a modern F1 pioneering all the latest developments and technologies relevant to today's challenges. If you haven't read them already Andrew Benson has made a couple of excellent blog posts on it earlier in the year: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2010/04/what_f1s_future_means_for_the.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2010/06/f1s_carboncutting_pledge_a_pos.html?page=13
  25. I believe he said 8 laps, which would make sense as I understand that's about the length the "Grand Prix" online mode will be (a Q3 session followed by an 8 lap race with at least one pit stop, damage, track evolution & tyre wear turned on). You will be able to host your own custom games privately or publicly with whatever sessions you wish, presumably including the full real-life race distance. Personally I think the basic Q3 + 8 laps will be enough for me.
