  1. Excellent race. Vettel's on fire but the Red Bull as a whole is clearly not as dominant as we all feared it would be. One slip up and he'll be battling in the mid-field while someone else strolls away. The Renault's have something remarkable off the line, I wonder what their secret ace is? Not sure what the penalties for both Alonso and Hamilton are for though. Hamilton for getting over defensive is about fair enough (I didn't see it myself but presumably there's something in the telemetry) but I don't know how Alonso is equally responsible for what looked for all the world to be a typical racing incident. Besides, I would've thought that the havoc caused to their respective races would've been punishment enough.
  2. Bright sunny day, hung out with martinist, watched Akira (never seen it before - I can see why everyone is so aghast at the prospect of a remake), welcomed, brother mother & mother's beau back, went to the pub, good eatings were had. First proper weekend I've had in a while too. Good times all round.
  3. martinist: Silver By Nature 12/1
  4. Should be a good-un tommorow. There's barely a cigar paper between Mclaren and Red Bull, could go any-which-way among those four.
  5. Looking goooood. Blurry magazine shots around if you want to find them - I'm pretty okay with spoiling myself a little bit. Bioware's always done a bang up job of only letting you see what they want you to and frankly I could've sat and watched someone play ME2 to completion and still enjoyed just as much.
  6. I'm surprised actually, I genuinely though both Red Bulls would be strolling away with it already. I also thought Mclaren were going to be a distant third this year. Apparently I know nothing.
  7. So yeah, anyway, this still looks shit hot.
  8. Woke up early to deal with builders installing the fireplace my mother's been dreaming of, got called in to work for the afternoon because someone's mother in law died, been spending the evening listening to my mother about how fucked we all are for money, for ever, and how fucked I am likely to be by extension. This was my day off.
  9. *Ding-Ding!* Round 1! PERFECT! I for one welcome our new road-side overlords.
  10. "Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang Walla walla, bing bang"
  11. Movies Belle Ville Rendezvous - I love this movie so very very much, my absolute favourite. It's like one of those incredibly vivid dreams you wish you could remember more clearly later on. Undercover Brother - endlessly re-watchable goofiness. Arguably better than Austin Powers. Yeah, that's right. What you gonna do about it? Music A Copland Celebration Vol 1 - a great collection of my favourite composer. Quiet City breaks my heart on every note. Athlete: Vehicles & Animals - a seminal album which they simply haven't lived up to since. Games F1 2010 - I'm going figure out how to get round Monaco without pinging about like a pinball even if it fucking kills me. Rome: Total War - The emotional state I have once I've marched an army into the breach and murdered everyone inside is probably something I should consult a therapist about. Books Too Black Too Strong by Benjamin Zephaniah - the best poet alive today. End of. Ruined City by Neville Shute - An impossibly human tale that hit me rather close to home in a couple of odd spots. My favourite.
  12. Yeah, that was great documentary. Uncomfortable viewing though, especially that scene at the end. There was something just so sad and pathetic about the whole thing with a man visibly burning to death and only a single driver stopping to try and save him, a cop feebly trying to kick dirt on the inferno as the rest of the field streamed by regardless. See it while you can folks. Jalopnik did a good discussion piece on it too.
  13. This was a hell of a pick-me-up today. I'm gonna go out for some dark chocolate and see what happens.
  14. Tell that to someone who doesn't have it.

    DUST 514

You are preaching to the choir, sir. I've been keeping half an eye on developments since and I am quite convinced if I ever do venture back into Eve Online parts of my body will start spontaneously combusting immediately after log-in.

    DUST 514

I spent about 5 months out of my first year in university dossing about as a part-time carebear miner type, had a couple of spells in player owned corps. Invariably it came down to the classic cost/use problem with both money and leisure time slowly dwindling. As I've said before if and when I've got about £15 extra a month I'm not spending on anything else (and a capable laptop) I'm straight back in there. Which brings us back to Dust 514 or whatever it is/will be called when and if it's finally done. I love the universe of Eve Online to bits and I'm thrilled by the idea of a game that allows me to participate in the universe, no matter how insignificantly, without prohibitive time commitments or monthly fees.
  17. I liked it, I think it provided some interesting fore-shadowing of what's to come in the big final chapter. A nice twist or two and all looked very nice, especially during the final sequence. A tasty side-dish before the final grand desert.

    DUST 514

Me too, but you do need plenty of time and/or money to burn on it. If I ever suffer a major stroke and loose my mobility just set me up with it and I'll be happy as a bee in butter.

I think I love CCP - you can't fault their ambition and if anyone can do it they will.
  20. Word to the wise, if you don't find it in the Xbox Add-ons tab, just go all the way in to the ME2 add-ons menu and scroll through 'till you find it. Downloading it now.
  21. Fantastic movie, a classic in my eyes. Iron Giant. A wonderful, wonderfully animated piece of Americana that should be discussed in hushed tones alongside the best of Disney and Ghibli but, inexplicably, isn't. Things To Come, one of my favourite old-timey movies. Written by HG Wells and based loosely on his novel The Shape Of Things To Come. It's a curious, messy film that skitters from subject to subject but is packed with beautiful moments before ending with the whole scientific struggle in a glorious microcosm. Condorman - an unrecognised camp children's action-comedy classic, starring Michael Crawford (he of Some Mothers Do Have 'Em) as a comic book artist who takes on his signature creation. Oliver Reed plays the villain for no reason. It's cheesy awesomeness from top to bottom. Just look at it's car chase scene for fuck's sake. Don't worry about the German dub, you can probably fill in most of the blanks.
  22. I don't see Lewis as a Corvette-style muscle car but I do like the little detail with the teeth.
  23. Next to the detergent (gotta keep our Ceiling Cats pristine white! =p )

  24. Maybe it needs a tuna-up? (I'll show myself out.)
