  1. A nice cup of coffee should help even things out.
  2. That and cheap medicine.
  3. Good B-days for all!
  4. Everyone's favourite computer-based Star wars goodness.
  5. Arthur, Celtic origin = noble. Cool. Apparently there are three female equivilants from roman times - Arthuretta, Arthurina and Arthurine. Didn't know that. I like the way they sound like campy Tolkein-esque charcters too. EDIT: tried a cnother of these name sites - apparently I'm also courageous and a deout follower of Thor. Okay.
  6. OOT - Diving off the bridge. Lylat Wars - THAT Independence Day-like level. Metroid Prime - Landing on Tallon IV for the first time. Metal Arms - The attack on the rebel robot town. Starwing - "This is Corneria, Pepper speaking, congratualtions, on a job well done!"
  7. Crappy taste in bubble cars though.
  8. My first week in Carlisle has pretty pleasant, all told. Nice little Uni, wonderfully eccentric tutors, great set of shops and pubs in the town, a brilliant little alternative cinema (that’s showing the original Robin Hood movies tomorrow – huzzah!) and a nice quiet flat. Still need to find where Morrisons is though. There’s one around here somewhere judging by all the students with plastic bags, but I can’t find it anywhere. It’s like one of those invisibility puzzles you need a special item for in Zelda. I had best get over to the haunted well in the castle before I run out of milk. Where’s my mirror shield?
  9. My writing tutor has a rather glorious taste in shirts. More later. Tired now.
  10. Snow Cake - Not so much an examination of autism, more of a half-baked set of character studies with an autistic person involved. Messy, dull, cliched script and half-hearted direction. Generally a bit pants. 3/10 Last Action Hero - Arnie at his prime starring in that rare oddity, a genuinly funny and exciting action comedy, which also manages to be highly imaginative and only stops just short of even being thought provoking. Danny - "You really think you're funny don't you?" Jack (Arnie) - "Of course I'm funny, I'm the famous comedian Arnold Brownschwagger!" 9/10
  11. Moving into my room tomorrow - I'm packing up my computer along with the other odds and ends still left now. Looking forward to getting my own room. I love my bro but I desperately need my own four walls. Toodles!
  12. Simon and Garfunkle. Now there's a pair who could bust out a fantastic piece of musical and poetic genius just by going for a dump.
  13. Never heard of any whale making several hit albums.
  14. Dogtanian has the mad-skillz.
  15. Yep to both of those. Tis quite a fun anime.
  16. Humanoid, but very feral I reckon.
  17. Superior Time Traveling.
  18. Whoa check out those gouges. He's now been moved from intensive care, and his condition has been downgraded from "serious but stable" to "stable". Apparently he hasn't susatined any severe physical deformities, so his face isn't mangled or anything. Good to know.
  19. I actually think there's a little bit of danger in focusing purely on the lyrics of a song without looking at the musical composition of the piece, as often you'd only miss a good deal of what the song is trying to convey in terms of imagery and emotion along with the message. Also, I think it's important that songwriters and poets don't fall into the trap of deliberately trying to be too aloof in the name of artistic expression. Often I find that all that happens is that you can confuse your own expression. My pefered lyricists are pobably R.E.M and Elton John. Basic stuff I know, but often done with a great deal of intelligence. I'm really enjoying the Dylan song above though. I've always got the impression that Bob was a poet first and a songwriter second. Sounds like something he wrote as a moody teenager. Maybe about his moody teenage years. Angst galore!
  20. Batman! Chucks a little too ginger for me.
  21. Most of todays newspapers are claiming that crash occured at a speed of around 280mph. Despite denials, rumours are persisting that Hammond was attempting to break the British land speed record. This could become significant later as both the BBC and the HSE & Police have now launched their investigations.
  22. I very much doubt that the Beeb would have let Hammond drive something like that if they believed there was a significant risk of injury. The BBC is well known for it's stringent health & safety precautions. It's still a god damn shame this has happend though. Sky News has just reported that doctors have said that Hammond has suffered what they believe to be "significant brain damage". He's in a stable condition and recovering quickly, but it doesn't sound good.
  23. Superior cel shaded goodness. Fact.
  24. Just take a gander at what he was driving. That's not a car, that's a jet engine with wheels. Additonal info here.
  25. Dawn of the Dead (remake) - Lack of amusing biker gang render this film invalid. Crap script didn't help either. Next! 5/10
