  1. It's not just winning states, don't forget each state has a number of electoral college votes. A desolate place like Alaska is only worth three, while Florida is probably worth about 20-odd. California is good for 55.
  2. I was so disappointed when I read the reviews. Namco of all people should know how to do a good arcade-space shooter.
  3. Basically, Nintendo has agreed to let THQ use of their IPs to create their own game. That's all anyone has at this time. So... any guesses? Personally I'm still waiting for a Super Mario Smackdown title.
  4. I'm still rooting for Obama. He seems to be the most intelligent and progressive of all the candidates.
  5. What you going to hospital for?
  6. To be honest at the start of the qualifying season I never even thought England would have any chance by this stage. Anyway, half hour in and Scotland seems to be disappointingly passive against Georgia so far.
  7. The Russians are being very clever, England need to fight fire with fire and get forward and strike back.
  8. Grrr. Still no student loan. I'm still waiting on it for that obligatory new-academic year splurge. I hope it's in by the end of the week, so I can get that 360 in time for the "study" week coming up. Lovely day though. Time for walk.
  9. In Metroid Prime, venturing into a mountainside facility and seeing a lithe alien Pirate bounding off the walls of the corridor towards you, like something straight out of a James Cameron sci-fi. Finally, enemies that truly intimidated you before allowing you to get to grips with them. The other one was re-visiting the space frigate from the games magnificent opener, and discovering a blasted, water-filled wreck, fish idling in pools and around computer screens.
  10. My favourite was a little purple figure, purple all over with a pale face. I lost it somewhere when we moved house and I never saw it again. I was absolutely devastated. In fact now that I think about it, that's probably the day I would say my childhood died.
  11. Feeling better today, decided to take a second day off, just still a bit sniffly. Halls are lifesavers. Student loan still not in, which is increasingly annoying. Been a rather sedentary day all in all. Might go for a short stroll later. I should really do something.
  12. That's my one fear with the whole game, like what happened with MKDS and Strikers. They're not "glitches", they're just soul destroying tricks and "tactics" that can only be mastered by people willing to dedicate their lives to sucking the very essence of fun out of the fabrics of the universe.
  13. The components of love, it's meaning, purpose and the conventions that go with it are entirely dependent on the individual. Or more accurately, the individuals. No two people are alike and no two relationships are ever the same.
  14. Although a headset might be nice, I still can't help but consider that most, if not all the most enjoyable games I've played on Xbox Live, are often played in polite silence.
  15. I once went for a camping/cycling/ holiday for a week in the Hebrides. A stunningly beautiful part of the world, but make preparations. It was sunny all week apart from one simply massive storm that lasted six hours then totally vanished. We had to shelter that night in a nearby hotel.
  16. Flowers are Red by Harry Chapin The little boy went first day of school He got some crayons and started to draw He put colors all over the paper For colors was what he saw And the teacher said.. What you doin' young man I'm paintin' flowers he said She said... It's not the time for art young man And anyway flowers are green and red There's a time for everything young man And a way it should be done You've got to show concern for everyone else For you're not the only one And she said... Flowers are red young man Green leaves are green There's no need to see flowers any other way Than they way they always have been seen But the little boy said... There are so many colors in the rainbow So many colors in the morning sun So many colors in the flower and I see every one Well the teacher said.. You're sassy There's ways that things should be And you'll paint flowers the way they are So repeat after me..... And she said... Flowers are red young man Green leaves are green There's no need to see flowers any other way Than they way they always have been seen But the little boy said... There are so many colors in the rainbow So many colors in the morning sun So many colors in the flower and I see every one The teacher put him in a corner She said.. It's for your own good.. And you won't come out 'til you get it right And are responding like you should Well finally he got lonely Frightened thoughts filled his head And he went up to the teacher And this is what he said.. and he said Flowers are red, green leaves are green There's no need to see flowers any other way Than the way they always have been seen Time went by like it always does And they moved to another town And the little boy went to another school And this is what he found The teacher there was smilin' She said...Painting should be fun And there are so many colors in a flower So let's use every one But that little boy painted flowers In neat rows of green and red And when the teacher asked him why This is what he said.. and he said Flowers are red, green leaves are green There's no need to see flowers any other way Than the way they always have been seen.
  17. It was OK. Woke up with a very sore throat, decided to skip college. Feeling a bit better now, don't have my energies quite about me though. Student loan still not in. Bah.
  18. Well I don't think you can expect English sports fans to run around throwing parades for the success of other teams. If Scotland does well, any subsequent celebrations are generally a Scottish prerogative. Nor will you find English sports fans tuning in to Scottish matches to support the other guy.
  19. It's not like Scotland doesn't produce it's fair share of sporting heroes though, especially given its' relative size. The Scottish rugby & football teams remain highly competitive, produced at least one F1 champion and one American Indy Car Champion, a number of Olympic medallists, top tier golfers, and Britain's best chance for a tennis grand slam is himself Scottish. For a nation of no more then about five million people that's a mighty impressive sporting lineage.
  20. I just don't get it. After the last Rugby World Cup, England's win received ne'r a single comment after about a week, while in Scottish media even the mightiest English victory is generally relegated to a small column alongside the golf results. The constant referencing to 66 does get a bit annoying, but the only person who ever does that is John Motson during England footie matches. Thank god for optional Radio 5 commentary.
  21. One penny. Just one.
  22. If I had a penny for every time I heard or read that. Just one, single, solitary penny.
  23. I never though any of them would make it. Fantastic, cheering tomfoolery. I still want a working car/canal boat though.
  24. Since the under dogs seem to have won every knock out stage, at what point does being the underdog make the opposing team the REAL underdogs, thus promising victory to them?
