  1. I thought any sort of redesign would be drastically different and more likely to fit comfortably in a media unit below the TV. How hilariously wrong I was! I haven't had much interest in the console in the last couple of years but while I maybe didn't expect to be drawn in by a new model, I thought it may at least be a little more appealing to make it tempting in some small way.. but I'm good 😅
  2. I spent the last few years expecting Tears of the Kingdom to strike it.. but the only thing it struck consistently was a nerve!
  3. I thought I was entering the final battle only to find out there's more. I haven't felt this upset for a while I was certain this was ending tonight. Just please let it end! I'm too far now to walk away.. but I do quite want to..
  4. Starting to question if I even wanna see this one through at this point 😕
  5. Pikmin 4 arrived today but I'm busy with Metroid Prime Remastered so I'm not sure when I'll get to it 😅 Tears of the Kingdom can continue to rot on my shelf along with Advance Wars until I'm feeling the desire to return to the relative tedium 😐 For the rear of the year, I have the following games on my radar: Ghost Trick Pikmin Pikmin 2 Super Mario Bros. Wonder Metal Gear Solid Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Wario Ware: Move it! I may also pick up EA FC 24 if the improvements over FIFA 19-23 are substantial enough give the move to Frostbite and, though I'm not really in need of adding any more RPGs to my life ever again, Super Mario RPG might sneak into my collection. EDIT I'm gonna let the spelling error slide..
  6. There's almost certainly variation between what is possible, what I want and what it will eventually be but I'll try to outline something within the realms of possibility 😅 Name: Nintendo Switch Plus Release: October 2024 I envisage a console very similar in style and concept to the Switch OLED with capabilities similar to but hopefully slightly beyond that of the PS4/XBOX One. I feel like I want it to be capable or playing almost anything and everything, including acceptable ports from rival platforms and also all legacy content. Part of this will be possible due to the new Joy-Con Plus which will be a lot like the current controller but with slightly improved sticks and, preferably, analogue ZL and ZR buttons. The other difference will be (and I'm not sure how necessary or feasible this is) a pointer at the top. I can only really see this being achieved by making the R button about half the length it currently is and having a small camera directly beside it. Would your fingers get in the way? Quite possibly.. Anyway, that would bring with it the possibility of Wii ports or versions of the games on NSO along with GC games too which make nice use of the analogue shoulder buttons. Am I going to be able to play Nintendo Land and Starfox Zero on this thing? Absolutely The dock will have greater significance than ever before this time. Just as how the Wii U Gamepad communicated with the console, the Nintendo Switch Plus will be able to communicate wirelessly with the dock to not allow those Wii U type experiences as well as offer the opportunity for dual screen gaming with the eventual DS and 3DS inclusions on NSO Plus! OK, genius.. you haven't even considering Virtual Boy. Haven't I..? A separately purchasable headset dock will allow for the Switch Plus console to slip into it to give a just about functional VR option, albeit primitive compared to much more expensive alternatives on the market. Not only will it finally give us the Virtual Boy games that should have made it to 3DS, the wireless communication with the dock connected to the TV will allow for other players to interact with the player wearing the headset by playing on the TV. All purchases made on the current Switch will carry forward, as will all of the access to the NSO apps, but the on board storage will still only increase to 128GB. The dock will also have a seperate Micro SD port the allow for even more storage beyond the internal storage of the system and Micro SD inserted into the Switch Plus. It will make it easier to transfer games between the dock storage and handheld storage without having to keep deleting and downloading games when the fridge is full! Ultimately, it all sounds like wishful thinking stemming from a desire to be able to access everything all from one place and not be limited by performance or control input. Do I think it will happen..? Unfortunately not. I do think the next console will be similar in form to the current Switch but I also believe Nintendo will hit us with the sort of twist that none of us had even contemplated. I'm excited either way. It feels like it's time!
  7. Has anyone else dropped off this game extremely hard..? I enjoyed Breath of the Wild as a right place, right time sort of experience but never would have considered it as the greatest Zelda game. I'd have said Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and Skyward Sword were my favourites by a long way and then it was perhaps in the running as the best of the rest. While we never saw much of Tears of the Kingdom before release, I was fairly certain in the last few years that it would surpass Breath of the Wild due to an expectation from myself that it would probably incorporate a few more of the classic elements of the franchise and inevitably lead to a very special experience. That may ultimately end up to be the case. Heck, this was my tweet on 21st May: It's hard not to be impressed by what the game is doing but are all of the elements adding up to an experience that is continually fun and enjoyable for me? As it currently stands, I'm not sure! I reached the 25 hour mark not that long after that tweet and I've barely been back. In fact, I haven't had any desire to dip in at all this week and that in itself has felt very disheartening. Rather than force it and potentially damage the game for myself going forward, I think I'm going to continue to take a break from it until I feel ready to jump in again. I have plenty of other things to play but I can't help having this lingering feeling that it's not supposed to be like this..
  8. I just wanted to show my appreciation for this quote 😄
  9. The controls not mapping well to a modern controller is the only thing that can prevent this from being the best release of the year
  10. I love that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been getting new tracks after all this time but I almost feel like it's somehow making the overall product inferior in quality, in a strange way. I've never really touched Mario Kart Tour but basically all of these tracks being released that are based on real cities aren't really gelling with me and while in theory the different routes on each lap could be great, I'm finding myself not really appreciating it. The remainder of the tracks are of varying quality but I'd say very few of them have been able to stand up to the excellence of the original courses. Don't get me wrong.. I'm still looking forward to seeing what else is to come and continually having more reasons to return to what is almost certainly my favourite Mario Kart title. I'm just finding each wave is falling a little flat each time!
  11. Genuinely might be the reason I never go back to play it.. 😐
  12. I probably spent more time browsing the Nintendo eShop than I played on PlayStation this year..
