  1. The planes are the nuts. It's like, really good, especially for something that you only really use for about 5 levels. Re: MK64 VS DKR The level design and weapons have gotta be better on Mario Kart.. Yet the planes, hovers, and adventure mode has Diddy Kong edge it for me. Controls a bit better too, as long as you're one of the 3 good racers. (Tiptup is my man) Been playing through the adventure the last couple days... rocketing through it, weird to think how many hours it took me when I was 10 or whatever. But yeah, 2nd octopus race I spent like an hour on this evening :P one false turn and it's into one of his stupid bubbles and an irritating restart. There should be more boss races in games, the sense of accomplishment was immense! The dragon took a while too, until I discovered that Pipsy is like, the ultimate fly-er. Just made it to the space levels. Awweeesome. Also, I loled at the weird cutscene where all the characters are partying on the beach and Wizpig comes along and runs around and random wizpig spaceship starts shooting at them all... the most random plot ever.
  2. I didn't mean you, I'm just giving the point that there's an equal amount of narcism on and off facebook. Anyway, I'm just saying that your problem with facebook clearly isn't the website itself but the people you have added on it. You could say that about most websites; this forum, for example is preferable to most basically because of the people on it rather than the website itself.
  3. Exactly. I get so bored of people who criticize facebook. It's just the most straightforward and common method of social communication. It can be used for narcistic reasons, it can be used as a timewaster, but ultimately it's up to the user, and narcism isn't promoted by facebook, you can hide people from news feed and it automatically only shows you stuff from people you talk to / whatever. And I find it equally narcissistic when people claim to be too good / busy / whatever to 'have time' for facebook. (also, I had to google portagonism, I'm pretty sure it's not a word)
  4. That is incredibly impressive!! Great keeper, ol joe
  5. Stunning. Is all I have to say.
  6. He's also one of the most annoying people ever. He's apparently doing like 3 degrees alongside his acting, apparently. Then he's also just had a collection of short stories published, good reviews in the paper. PLUS he's going to start directing too, apparently he's set to direct Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian, which is a pretty tough one for a debut! Annoyingly impressive. Anyway. Watched the film. Really really good. The nerve bit mad me wince abit. I love how sexy all of Boyle's films look... the three sections of the screen worked really well, soundtrack was awesome too - Lovely Day was brilliant choice of song. Anyway yeah. Surprised by the lack of chat on this thread! Well worth a watch.
  7. From what I remember reading somewhere or other, they shot an alternative ending, but were forced to use the one they did cos 'the man' made them. The other ending's probably on the tube. Anyway, thought the film was alright, ending was shit, and the monster things were shit, but there was some interesting ideas and some not bad acting (though I think Will Smith should stick with being a comedy actor, generally) The book, though, is completely terrific, gets the loneliness down really well. So very readable too, which helps.
  8. Haha, similar has happened to me a few times... genuinely gutting, but then I have no idea how to strike up chat with a stranger, unless it's alcohol induced or beginning of uni or whatever. Happened to me in Greggs once and all! A very pretty and my-type girl buying a pasty or whatever. It never occurs to me to talk to people on the checkouts for some reason. What do I regret? Not much, although I regret uni. Wrong course and the wrong city. Ah well. and I guess A Levels. Biology and Chemistry, certainly bad calls, particularly the latter. 16 is far too young to make such decisions...
  9. Or just thrip it from here. Anyway, I'm now going to answer my own question. Jeans - Topman (anywhere else are far too baggy for my rake-like figure T's - H&M Hoodies & Jumpers - H&M / Topman Socks and pants - Marks and Sparks! Shoes - Anywhere that sells converse. Comfy.
  10. Cheers bro. It's actually warm too, unlike most of Topman's stuff which looks like it's going to be warm but in actual fact are basically paper thin / too loosely knitted. I'd like to stick up for the shop though - with student discount it's not actually that bad, better than Urban Outfitters and such, and then vintage or independent stores tend to end up about the same price anyway... Question, then, where does everyone buy their clothes from?
  11. An enjoyable program!
  12. £25 £15 Want this but it's £35
  13. Niyce. Are the slight fisheye-effects (like on the fourth one) with lens or post-produced? Works very well whatever. and it had to be done
  14. Yeah, definitely gonna get myself The Corner. From what I hear it's incredibly depressing, none of the Wire's humour to alleviate things. Bought myself the first season of Breaking Bad recently actually... I've only watched the first couple episodes, hasn't really grabbed me yet.. I'll keep it up though, as everyone seems to praise it so. I enjoy the Treme pun also.
  15. Yeah, I see what you mean, definitely agree.. the different 'themes' of each season gave a bit of a perhaps not conventional but certainly slightly unnatural feeling. Although I think the shift into series 2 was alot more obvious / jarring, the whole narrative shifting whereas in s5 the newspaper stuff only took up maybe a quarter of the screentime, so it didn't feel quite as unnatural / didn't bother me so much. It's a shame though, as you say, that the newspapers weren't foreshadowed at all in the earlier seasons. The press were often present but nearly always ignored. Anyway, yeah from what I've read Treme's a very different beast. I'm surprised how little I've heard about it though.. started airing last year right? Considering The Wire seems to be universally credited by the critics as 'best tv evar' it's strange to see a series of Treme on air with almost nothing in the papers / online /whatever. Although The Wire only seemed to take off through the DVDs. Can't see Treme s1 DVD anywhere yet. Did you watch via.. other means?
  16. Just fucking finished it. What a brilliant brilliant piece of television. I've got a slightly depressed feeling now it's finished... Doesn't help that it's a pretty depressing show anyway, quite a hopelessness in the full circle aspect of it. Anyway, solid ending. I struggle to see why 5 is said to be a miss-step. The main thing in the centre was a bit far fetched but I don't think they pushed it too far from plausibility. Almost. But with the newspapers added, in some ways it was almost better than the 4th. For me? 4 > 5 > 3 > 2 > 1 I might have to rewatch the first. Totally didn't get into it, but then it was years ago and I didn't really know what good TV was. In hindsight the focus probably seemed a but too narrow, especially comparison to the last couple seasons. Love how constantly hilarious it is aswell, without being too much so. The bit with
  17. Your right, good work! Need to whack out my tablet, everything on this thread looks amazing!!
  18. Not entirely sure how I've only just seen this but yeah. Awesome bro! Your drawing is really good, especially in colour Looks sweet. Illustrator or photoshop? The website itself actually seems very well made as well. GOOD EFFORT.
  19. Would you mind saying more about all this? How did you get the job as magazine writer? Do you need alot of experience? What degree / qualifications do you have? What are the hours / pay like? Kind of interested in magazines, careerwise.
  20. What's san fransisco like to live in? I have a vague ambition to move to the states post uni, I went to San Fransisco briefly a few years ago and it might be my city of choice. How's the weather ect also? Currently: poor unemplyed student, doing an english degree that I don't enjoy and am average at at best. Dream Job: Sitcom writer or something. Or, more realistically, yet much more unrelated to my english degree, an illustrator. How?: Doing unpaid illustrations for local publications, websites ect. Which is going along quite nicely. Dunno how much money there is in it though, if any.
  21. Dunno, think you got a bit ripped off by the hairdressers the second time you went.
  22. As far as I'm aware you can unlock it to use on other networks for a tenner or something. Don't really know, I'm sure someone on here will though.
  23. Orange San Fransisco fits that description perfectly (90 quid on payasugo) and everyone on here seems to love it. I want it but can't quite justify it from what I have already.
  24. Picked myself an n64 and games off ebay, have to say this is the best of the bunch that I've got, holds up brilliantly today! Getting incredibly tough as well, some of the TT time trials, and the blue coin challenges too. Surprised this isn't on virtual console. Anyone else have fond memories?
  25. Just gonna throw it out there, Gareth Edwards is British so can't complain too much about Americanizations. Dunno though, Monsters was obviously brilliant but I'm surprised he's doing another monster movie straight after. Interesting to see what he'll do with it.
