I don't think Twilight Princess was that easy, just once you've played 3 3d Zelda's solving the puzzles they throw at you is all too predictable and straight forward. I think the problem for me was it was always too obvious where to go, you were pretty much guided step by step.

Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes (Wii/Wii U Online RPG)

Came back from the dead, used to be quite active then lost my interest in the Wii, due to a lack of games. Gonna dust it off this xmas then bring it up to uni next term, catch up on what I've missed now it's priced at what it's actually worth . -
Same with Twilight Princess, as I said earlier, I mean I beat the last boss first time... What the hell is up with that? I just remember the SNES days where games were actually hard, it scares me how good I used to be at some random platformers, as when I play them now I just get my ass handed to me. Still pwn up contra on hard though .

Too true. Sadly it's the case with most games nowadays .

Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes (Wii/Wii U Online RPG)

Erm, it's like Final Fantasy but in my experience normally a less interesting story and more grinding. FF is probably the most well known mainstream RPG series, Dragon Quest holds that mainstream appeal but is a bit more nishe, despite selling better, or something. I dunno. -
Tiger Wood lost credibility when 08 came out 5 months after 07 was practically the exact same game. 09 might be okay though, doesn't take me as the sort of game people on here want to see the Wii getting though, unless we're at a stage where an above average third party effort is welcomed? But yeah, that aside, I think you're missing the point with what I'm saying. Third parties have had some success on the Wii, there are times where quality reaps a good return, but a 'good seller' on the Wii for a third party has nowhere near as big of a return as a 'good seller' on the PS360. Higher developement costs mean a bigger risk, but these become insignficient if you get a big hit on the PS360. Furthermore there's less risk of a flop on PS360. Where's the shovalware that sells? Everywhere... just have a browse of the vgchartz database. Tons of these games are outselling Zack and Wiki / COD5 Wii etc... Really is it that hard to find them? But yeah, I'm really just asking you to put yourself in the boots of a third party developer. Why would Activision put more resources into 'proper' Wii games after COD:WaW is selling so incredibly on the HD systems but not the Wii? Ubisoft just had huge success with Prince of Persia on the HD systems, EA sports see alot more success on the HD systems, and Konami's Pro Evo etc. There is more money in the HD systems for a third party... No matter what they make for the Wii or DS. It pretty much comes down to brand names in my opinion, which Nintendo have hosts of strong figures with huge widespread mainstream appeal... whereas other then Sonic third parties simply don't have, they're slowly building up a few more 'brands' with the new found Wii market mind you, whether they lead to better games is questionable.
-
Wow you're really scrapping the barrel there, An EA sports series? A GameCube Port? The Lego Series, Seriously (Yeah I know they're fun but hardly the pinnacle of quality). Their success is far outdone by the likes of Carnival games, Game Party, Cooking Mama 1 / 2, Rayman RR, MySims etc. I don't think that's right, but a hypothetical situation like that makes no sense anyway. I'd imagine supply would soon outstrip demand of the games though, and software sales would suffer for titles. GTAIV sold 10 million +, Call of Duty 4 10 million +, Halo 3 sold alot, plenty more. If a third party should be looking at the Wii and thinking they can get sales on the scale of any first party title they're seriously misguided - the best selling DS game by a third party racked up only 3 million units, and that's on a userbase of 90 million potential customers. Have third parties not made any good well marketed games on the DS? Nonsense. Nintendo have a brand about them third parties can't compete with, no matter how 'perfect' they make a game to appeal to audiences and how well they market it and whatever else, Nintendo will always outsell them. The 16 best selling DS games are all First party... it's a similiar story on Wii with it's similiar userbase and appeal. There is far more potential for success for third parties elsewhere then the Wii.

The consumer is happy, otherwise they wouldn't buy these games, and they must buy them, for companies to keep making them. The companies are only filling the apparent demand, if people buy it Ubisoft will make it, and people are buying it. Just look how successful the Imaginez series has been on DS, and now the Wii. It's not really that hard to comprehend, sure enough you're not happy, and most people one these forums arn't, but the majority seem to be. I think it was a misquote but they said something like that. I don't really think a company would work in that way though, it's kind of laughable the idea they invest all their profits into something they don't think will produce more profits. I think they don't sell as well on Wii though, and are at a risk to flop. Prince of Persia sold over a million copies worldwide on it's first day on the market last week, it would struggle to surpass 1 million worldwide on the Wii at all. Third parties haven't had much success releasing geniune games on the Wii, there are a few exceptions such as Resident Evil 4 and Red Steel but normally the games flop, and they flop hard. Who's going to risk making anything on the scale of Prince of Persia or Beyond Good and Evil 2 on the Wii when they're guarenteed better sales and less risk on the PS360?

Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes (Wii/Wii U Online RPG)
jammy2211 replied to killer kirby's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Ahhh a few familiar faces. These forums don't seem as active as they used to be, and all the stupid debates about hardcore gamers and Nintendo losing their focus seem be nowhere near as frequent . Guess people are tired of it now. But mmmm, figured I might try get back into my Wii playing now all the gamers are priced at a reasonable amount for the most part. Can't believe there still isn't any worth RPG's on Wii though... or Ps3 for that matter. -

Does anyone else find it hard to get excited for this game when it's previous iteration still isn't gonna be out in Europe for another 6-12 months? Good news for the Wii though, may the RPG onslaught begin (And I can then dust off my Wii). -
I pretty much said those based on going back to playing previous iterations. Metroid Prime 2 was the 'right' difficulty to me, and Super Metroid equally too. Twilight Princess difficult? Seriously? It practically guided you along the whole game, the dungeons were horribly easy. To be honest I think it's just that I've played alot of Zelda games now, got to learn their puzzles and whatnot. Saying that there still wasn't any levels designed with the genius and challenge as the Water Temple in OoT or the Ice dungeon in LTTP. Galaxy I don't even want to go into, I mean, did anyone really die more then once or twice getting the first 60 stars?
-
Super Mario Galaxy lacked difficulty. Twilight Princess lacked Difficulty Metroid Prime 3 Lacked Difficulty. Pah, perhaps I'm just getting too old for this.
-
Mario & Sonic, has the best pick up and play controls and everyone loves Mario and Sonic. Plenty of other good suggestions but I feel this is the most straight forward in most cases, along with Wii Sports. Mario PArty 8 aint bad and is cheap... not sure if it's suitable for the restaurant type multiplayer you want though, might take a bit too long.

I think the Wii can't offer the FPS experience the HD consoles can, while it's control scheme may be better I still find the controllers a more then competent option. I just don't think the Wii has the hardware, what FPS's on the 360 and PS3 do nowadays is just something else and not just in graphics, I'll find it hard to go back to a Wii FPS and enjoy it as it could always be a better game in nearly every way on another console. Metroid Prime 3 was great but not because it was a FPS (which it wasn't). As for The Conduit, it looks nice, will probably be the best the Wii has to offer but I think it'd sink compared the big boys on PS3 and 360. As for Wii's online interface for something like this... no chance.

I'm split on the idea. On one hand, you get all the music you could ever want for just £30 a year, an absolute bargain I'll happily pay for. On the other, it gives the record companies a life line, when in truth they deserve to suffer and choke until internet piracy finally kills them off, and we can reinvite music distribution in a more fair way to the artist. Illegal music downloads is the best thing that's happend to music, it hurts the record labels and not the artists and is going to revolution and change the music industry for the better, sooner or later. It'd be a shame if a tax comes in and saves the majors from their inevitable death, while screwing over all the independant record labels - it's just going to create an environement where the majors win again, do we want this? In all honesty it's too soon to tell if this is a good idea, it serves no benefit to the artists creating music nor does it in my eyes, help encourage the idea of artists making deep, meaningful music for people who are actually passionate about the art to enjoy. There are too many if's and buts at the moment, I don't think taxing the UK is a viable solution if the rest of the world isn't going to follow suit though.

Like I said , the guy who said this could easily be wrong. I've not yet seen anyone with a platinum trophey for Stardust though, nor do I see it listed on the trophey list. It may not be listed and just be a standard thing, but I'm not sure atm, would make sense for the smaller games not to contain these things.

That what I felt at first, I think it wasn't until I heard their strongest vocal tracks that I got what they added and how important they were to the music as a hole. A quick listen to "Hope" was enough to convince me there was something awesome there, and "Dawn Of a New Day" and "The Starting" sort of made you see how amazingly they used their vocals as a sixth instrument, if you will. They're not an accessible band, not someone who on first listen you'll want more. I didn't enjoy them anywhere near as much as I do now after a few listens, but if it's your sort of thing it'll only be a matter of time until you can appreciate how amazing they actually are. It's important to know where to start from though.

From what I've read, Super Stardust doesn't have a Platinum trophey. Much like with Xbox Acheivement points, where the DLC games are only worth 200 points (Compared to 1000 for a full game), the Downloadable PS3 only contain Bronze / Silver / Gold tropheys. I'm not 100% on this, but I was told pretty reliably. I've just got the co-op trophey left on Stardust now, need to get a mate round when possible I guess, and download the add-on of course. Feel I need to get my hands on it though :P, should be much fun. The bomber trophey was an absolute joke, really you have to blow up the first two ships with just one bomb to stand a chance. Good feeling once you've done it though.

Music is timeless, how dated it is has no effect on it's quality, can't see why you even brang that up. And it's an incredible album, just magnificient. Albeit I didn't rate it that high (Albeit very very highly) until I saw them perform it live. Compared to alot of the bands out there nowadays though, it's leaps and bounds ahead of what most UK acts are producing (Yeah I know they're American). It scares me at the same time though, albeit the first 6 songs are near perfect, it does tail off towards the end somewhat. Perhaps that just makes it better though? . Anywho, lets throw out a band who no one will most likely have heard of. If you're into your metal / heavy shiz and want the best upcoming UK band, then Download "A Fragile Hope" by "Devil Sold His Soul". I'd describe them as an Ambient Metal outfit (Albeit much more focused on the metal), and easily one of the most orginal bands out there at the moment. If anyone is familiar with Avant-Garde music, these guys are the new pioneers.

I don't see how you can ***** about the title, it looks pretty good I think. Well, from what you can make out from a trailer and a few screenshots. How it works out is anyones guess, I mean some parts of the screenshots reminded me of something like Banjo-Kazooie or Ratchet and Clank, the game did seem a bit kiddy at first but so did both the asforementioned games, and they're awesome! One to keep an eye on, no doubt.

Ubisoft haven't announced it... Something like this would obviously have been planned in advance long before this month, just they're not going to announce it at the same time as the 360 / Ps3 / DS versions... And er, even if we do accept your logic, surely Ubisoft announcing a traditional game is exactly what people had been calling for? Surely this can't be perceived as a bad thing...

Companies don't make decisions like the next project in one of their best selling franchises over the course of 3 days, and to suggest they'd do something like this because of the reaction to Ubidays is laughable. No doubt this PoP spin off will have been in the works for a while now, whether it's any good is anyone guess, but to suggest it's Ubisoft trying to make-amends for that babiez game is rediculous. You really think they care about what a few people on some forums have to say ?

I've not posted on here for a while, had to go away from the whole video games thing due to other things happening, but it's seemingly 6 months or so since I left and I'm shocked the Wii's situation is getting worse, at least for the core gamer getting good games thing. It's really what I've said all along, in that there seems to be a stigma in the Western Developer world where they've deluded themselves into thinking they can't sell games on the Wii, made worse when even a company like Ubisoft - who had two launch titles surpass 1 million copies - seem to only further this belief. To be honest I'm just baffled at the whole thing, how many more traditional games need to sell 1 million+ in order to get these companies to sit up and take notice? I think it's just the western developers feel a loyalty to Sony and Microsoft and that they don't want to go near Nintendo, it's a historical thing I guess. Same thing happend with the DS really, despite it's runaway success.

Got a review copy of this today, is it out yet? But yeah, seems like alot of fun, enjoying it thus far. Thing is, in the challenge mode I can't play with motion controls on the mini-game challenges, only in proper matches. Anyone else having this problem? Can you fix it or is it a horrible glitch? Would like to know before I post a review.
