Yeah, I'd be screaming at the ending If I hadn't read an article about it last year/a while ago. Land wasn't any worse I don't think...his women are still horrible. I think his men are mostly "fine", they don't look copy and pasted into strange positions like his women do. Or like they've just stepped out of some porno. It's just annoying...aesthetically/superficially his work is nice/satisfying, but when you actually read it in a comic, it's awful. Especially the action scenes as Dan said. There's no movement. *sigh* Also: Dark Avengers, clearly set before Siege 2 (or maybe I just read them out of order by mistake). I like that Sentry is doing something vaguely interesting. I like how Ms. Hand doesn't take shite from Norman. Also: Just been reading a bit more about the upcoming Heroic Age stuff. I really love John Romita Jr.'s pencils, they feel so definitive, and as it says in one of the articles "carved from stone". I'd like to see his take on the Avengers proper. I was looking to see if he'd ever done anything for DC heroes, and it seems not a lot. Done a bit of Batman (barely) which was interesting, but are there any sketches or anything he's done of other DC heroes?

I'm on another forum that was having a freak out as it leaked...it was on sale in some indie shop in NY by mistake and this woman actively left work to try and get the CD first. (I assume it leaked from this shop or similar) And most of the big reviews are in, saying it's the second coming or something. I'm ready. ---- I've never got a response before here, but does ANYONE else like Saint Etienne? They're fucking amazing, and always mentioned in hushed tones, using words like "influential", "90's London", "Stunning" etc. They're just great. I assumed they'd be more unknown-prolific, if you know what I mean. I'd recommend listening to an album rather than just songs, they're quite obviously constructed pieces of work. Foxbase Alpha and So Tough just got amazing remasters, it's hard to think of sound that good coming from 1991. (i.e better than the above vids)

Was Michael Biehn the insane one? I thought I recognised him. Doesn't change my score.

One of my besties was down for the day from Aberdeen so spent the afternoon with him. He brought me Buffy Season 3, I gave him BSG Season 1. Such a gap in quality between the two, but Buffy stuns in her own way.

I just remember the alien being yellow in one bit, as though the yellow was meant to be light or something, it just looked awful. I dunno. I'm not too keen on the design, but I really like the fact it's different because of how it was "born". Maybe me not liking the design influenced my viewing. This has got me wanting to watch Resurrection again.

Tried this the other day with a friend. Every 4-5 people it seems to be a fat guy having a wank.

This. I'd prefer pop star people sang live well than did intricate dance routines at the expense of their voice, but some people can pull both off really well. (One being GaGa, to bring the discussion full-circle.) It's the Britney Spears' of the world who neither sing nor dance (very well) on stage that bemuse me.

The cgi aliens looked way better in Resurrection than in 3 . 3's cgi aliens were horrific. The tunnel-run scene . I'd rather they just hadn't shown us anything.

You're right to an extent, it's a bit "..." if they completely change it if it's worse. But what if it's better? Chair's example is actually REALLY good. The lush electronic track Hyper-Ballad suddenyl mashes with Freak by LFO (IIRC) for the last portion, which in turn helps segues into the more heavy electronic part. Also all the beats are played live on this: A REACtable, which gives the songs a different identity live, the beats are more frenetic in cases and it's just a lot more satisfying than a backing track or something. It's shows that she wants the live experience to be a unique one, that the music is still put together like a normal band, rather than just played in the background. People can pour their heart out performing live, making songs that much more powerful (over mentioned, but that Tori Amos is a good example). Are you saying that they should stick EXACTLY to how it is without trying to improve it?

I disagree with JonSt/agree with Chair RE: Performance of songs. Bit pointless seeing people just roll out album versions note for note. (Ok, if it's worse live, you'd prefer album versions. :p) If they can/want to add elements to make the songs come alive on stage/in concert, I support it. If only for the artists themselves. how fucking boring would it be to perform the same song, the same way, 100+ times on a single tour? Let alone if that's like a staple hit you do on every tour. --- That said, one doesn't have to use lights and effects to put on a good show, a good performer/band can have a "star quality" than just brings all eyes to them anyway. That's rare though.

It's such an enjoyable film. It's not a patch/shouldn't be considered quality-wise with the other 3 films, but I have such a great time watching it. It's a nicely directed film, maybe not very Alien-esque, but I just love. Ripley. Winona. How shite it really is but so much fun is had. This! I actually preferred AVP Requiem to AVP. At least it had some sort of...urgency to it and like...mild horror. It's way worse, but more enjoyable.

Yeah, I'm all for stripped-down stuff (my 3 favourite albums ever are lo-fi, almost acoustic stuff), but as Chair said, with a song everyone knows, she wants to try and make the whole spectacle more..spectacular. Plus it's probably more engaging in real life.

Yeah she is. I wish her music matched up to what she projects, but some of it is brilliant, a lot is good/ok. A fair amount is awful (but it feels like she tried). Anyone see Paparazzi from first night of her Uk Tour?! I love. So essential.

I think Tyrannic is the best so far. No one else is taking this seriously.

It must've been like...2 years ago when you last obsessed over that song. I love how into it the blonde girl is in the video.

I'm actually lol'ing. Screwed up face-lol. It just reminded me of Paddy's scene in the next Jurassic Park film, swinging in, kicking a Velociraptor, then falling into the long grass. I love. I LOVE. --- What about Tyrannic?

As far as I remember, the only spoiler (if it's that at all) is that the hybrid references the propechy that Kara will doom them all or something?
