  1. I might read it...I always liked Spoiler. -- I've decided to catch up my Ultimate stuff after reading Ultimates 1-3 and Ultimatum. Ultimate Spidey felt more pressing than X-Men, so I've been doing that all day (ill so I have an excuse..:p). Read from the Hobgoblin arc onwards, now in the middle of the Silver Sable arc. Kinda annoyed they decided not to keep the Ult. Spidey game as canon, when they said they would (IIRC). Then again, she stuns more here. I love Tandy Bowen being student council president, and her name generally appearing every so often. IIRC you see the posters for to be elected way back, then grafitti in the toilets, then she gets interviewed about Silver Sable later on. Adds. I have no idea if they've made her Dagger in the current issues so we'll see.
  2. Slowly, but surely, we will all fall into place at the feet of Joanna Newsom.
  3. My throat was so bad this morning (and still) that I can't speak without actively speaking in a different timbre/range/whatever than normal. And even so it still sounds like a moose or something. So I stayed off college, I've got a throbbing head too.
  4. My little film for my current project started taking conceptual shape today at college, which was good. TBF I have 2 entire weeks to "plan" before I even start filming it and putting it all together, but I was worried nontheless. (It's a snapshot of a world where superhero have replaced our normal religious icons) I've had a "tickly" throat for a few days (i.e not sore or hugely hacking/coughy, but I'm really aware of when I take air into my lungs etc), and tonight I blew off going to see a friend's band because I just felt worse, and now my voice is completely going. Adds a certain mystique, but then again is really annoying.
  5. RE: Chair's purchase. "Hm? Yes, of course"
  6. Had no idea what this was about, other than like "America - roads - two guys" and that it was directed by Gus Van Sant and apparently was set to stun, and that it was named after a B-52's song. It was really good, and not what I expected at all. An apparent update of the Henry plays by Shakespeare (loosely), it shifts in tone and expression wildly, with some bits sounding like dialogue from the original plays, mixed with new stuff (which I think it was, maybe?). I quite liked that though, since it was so spare and considered whenever it did happen. Lovely cinematography etc and Keanu Reeves was good! River Phoenix too (more so), but I've never seen anything with him in before (not even Stand By Me/You whatever). The whole thing had an incredible atmosphere, and just brought to mind Exile in Guyville by Liz Phair (what doesn't though?). But yeah, a very touching story about (well it's not really "about" it - which is a good thing, it's not the main focus etc, it's just a part of the story) a presumably more controversial topic than it would be now. (trying to avoid spoilerz)
  7. I added my three to the playlist; Grey Gardens by Rufus Wainwright (just the one I'm feeling at the moment), I Speak Because I Can by Laura Marling and Girl VII by Saint Etienne.
  8. No idea where to post this, but this is so awesome. I love this kinda thing. Selfridges unveil window displays based on songs by current musical artists The inclusion of Charlotte Gainsbourg just seals the deal. And the choice of Cosmic Love from all of Florence's songs is amazing, you'd assume they'd do a single or something, but they actually chose the best song.
  9. It's a Joanna Newsom remix (effectively). with a dubstep beat. I like 16bit's one more than I'd expect to, only heard it a few months back too.
  10. What's Batgirl like? Any good?
  11. I love CocoRosie's new album. I'm so pleased. I was fearful it would fall into "Oh this is really interesting but kinda unengaging" like some of their stuff, or maybe too straightfoward, like some of their last album was. But it's lovely. I love the breakdown/breakup/bit where it goes stunning. Other stunners off the top of my head are Here I Come!, Fairy Paradise and Undertaker.
  12. How can you not know Coolness has a Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus obsession? :p
  13. Oh yeah. I was thinking of David Fincher...instead of Bryan Hitch. For whatever reason. I will try it, a person with semi-taste told me to as well.
  14. Read it cause I hate not feeling complete. It was just really bizarre and didn't really feel anything like the Ultimates. The art was...nice (I used to love Madureira), but didn't feel right coming after Finch's work. And of course the story...
  15. Uroborus. (or Ouroborus, but that feels like you're making a point with the "O", like "Ooh! A circle!")
  16. Ok, I was left breathless, spent and wanting more after Ultimates 1 + 2. Just read issue 1 of 3...I'm bracing myself for shite. It's already really...odd. Where'd Black Panther come from? I thought Venom died (though I haven't read Ultimate clone saga...if he's in that?)? etc
  17. Though nice subject matter, the HDR feels a bit gratuitous. Everything looks a bit like a videogame level. While HDR has looked really nice in a lot of your photos on here (and other peoples), I'm not such a fan of that set. Apart from the one with the pipes on the celing. It's all too much all over the place to take in. (imo)
  18. Oh yeah, I loved. Although, having seen it, I can confirm it wouldn't join the hallowed ranks. The Hours is looking down on it from such great heights.
  19. He looks like that most of the time. No one else here has had the absolute privlege to witness his "silent laugh". It's the best thing.
  20. Yeah, DC stuns in it's own way. Everyone feels so shiny and warm. And each character has so much more pomp and circumstance/gravitas/other word meaning stunningness. Marvel tends to be more "edgy" with it's main heroes than DC. Willing to kill them (to a point) and genuinely shake up the status quo. DC less so, and they have an annoying tendency to do events that needlessly rewrite history (the first Crisis was justified tbf). DC just feels more "definitive" and clean, like all the edges have been sanded perfectly, then varnished, ready to be used. For my current art project, in which I'm looking at "superheroes" and religious and spiritual imagery, I'm exclusively looking at DC. (although I used an issue of X-Men in a collage cause it was the only one I had 2 copies of, and it was in a "modern" drawing style) DC heroes are just far more crammed with cultural association/pop culture icons/shyt. (That said...I think deep down I'm a Marvelite. It's what I read and learned to know inside-out for years. Batman was my first love, but X-Men and Spidey were like my metaphysical-spirital comic book parents) --- My favourite thing! Reading Ultimates atm, screamed when Captain Britain says he went to Fettes College in Edinburgh! Hitting too close to home. One of the "rivals" of my old school (though way more "prestigious"). Fettes is really "...: though. Boarding school shite. Though technically a good school. But it does tend to produce some rather nose-in-the-air arses (to completely generalise). Or at least from my experience of the people there.
  21. Ew you watched a dubbed film? Subtitles ftw...
  22. It's a real film. It was confirmed ages ago, IIRC. They also wanted to make Thanksgiving 2, a "sequel" to the fictional Thanksgiving, the fake trailer for which was featured in Grindhouse. The whole joke being that there wasn't even going to be an original film made, just teh sequel. Though I think that never came to fruition.
  23. I changed mine, though it's still "FUCK! We DC heroes all need to help in this nondescript battle!" themed. Happey: Av: You've had this before, it's fine, but I prefer your previous Spidey one. I always think there's someone behind him on either side, if I'm only looking out of the corner of my eye. 7/10 Sig: It's nice. I like how it's out of the way and all neat with your two links. 8/10
