Was really interested in this before, but now I have MP3 and wasn't particularly impressed by the controls, have RE:UC and wasn't that impressed with the lightgunning, and have Halo3 and TF2 to tide me over for online multiplayer.

I don't particularly know what exact part of the bible it states it, but you might want to have a look at this webpage: http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/donald_morgan/contradictions.html A couple of favourites from reading the first few on the page:

The cake is a lie.

Things may well have taken place, indeed I believe there is proof that a man named Jesus Christ lived 2008 years ago. That doesn't mean he was the son of "God". And just as many prophecies didn't come true. It's the same as the starsigns argument - if something is broad enough it's bound to come true at some point. I do believe I read somewhere that in two different sections of the bible - two of the disciples gospels - there is contradiction that one states Jesus stayed in Jerusalem for a year, and the other that he stayed a day. That pretty much proves in itself that not everything in the bible is right, so if something that meaningless is wrong whats to say anything else isn't? Ok, Christianity tells people to be nice ot each other. Fantastic. So a cosmic jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force present in humanity because a rib woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat the fruit of a magical tree? I never said it was; but God has to come from somewhere, and you can't state where that is any more than I can state what caused the big bang. And theres a hell of a lot more evidence for the big bang theory if you discount one fictional book. I never said Science has an explaination. As I said earlier, the origins of our universe is beyond human comprehension, and instead of striving for the truth like many people are doing (coming up with theories and attempting to prove them) religious people take the easy option and accept some story written 2000 years ago. I'm putting my faith in the evidence left on our good Earth, rather than a story written 2000 years ago. Ok then. The big bang just was. It just happened and created our earth. Same way god did. You can't deny that anymore than I can deny yours. Hahahahahaha, are you serious? Do you actually comprehend what you just said? Is there any evidence that gay marriage is wrong? No, so why is it then prohibited by your so called "morals"? To be honest this post has just made me even more sure;Christians are idiots. And I say this coming from a Catholic family, half of which originates from Ireland and the other half from Glasgow. I support Celtic. But Christians are idiots.

So you randomly chose someone who has already been stated as "good" by Shino earlier? No way. Either your lying and you need to die, or you're really crap at mafia games and wouldn't be much of a loss. Vote: Dyson

Right, so if Science can't explain the beginning of the Universe, explain to me this: What created God? And don't say "he just is", according to you everything began somewhere. The beginning of the universe is beyond human comprehension at this moment in time. Science is the most realistic explaination (using this Occams Razor theory) and therefore it's the one I'm going to believe in.

I think you're telling this to the wrong people; tell her, and let her decide what she wants for herself. You aren't going to be "ruining" her future if she decides to change her future plans; you would be ruining it if you didn't give her that choice. If she chooses you then that means it's what she wants, and by not telling her how you feel about the whole situation you might be stopping her having that choice.

So then, nobody has anything yet again?

Oh shit, the fish has arrived. The pro-religion people may aswell just leave now.

Christianity (which I'm using for the purposes of this discussion as it's the religion I know most about) is based simply on a bunch of words on a piece of paper; simply something written by someone else. Humans have the faculty to lie, but "evidence" cannot lie. The world cannot lie; humans can. The bible is no more than a 2000 year old version of Wikipedia, and cannot be relied on for fact in any way.

Haggis would not have defended darksnowman if he was evil.

Cloverfield, Did it live up to the hype? *Spoilers*

"No, no, I'll just stay here and um...document" Some really funny moments, it felt pretty real the way they were trying to make light of it a few times. Weird as hell though. I'd expect there to be a shitty sequel that explains everything. -
Alien Hominid is a pretty dull game in single player, but go in co-op with someone half decent and it's absolutely awesome.

Maybe he broke his arms again.

Religion is a concept dreampt up thousands of years ago to fill the gaps in knowledge. There is now scientific proof contradicting religion (for one thing, the Dinosaurs) which cannot be denied but people simply ignore this because they are holding on to a vague hope of them living forever in a perfect world after they die.

First time you are on the citadel is really confusing. When I did it I still hadn't figured out the map etc. First time round just press on asap from it. Later you come back to it and you should have everything worked out, then you can enjoy it a bit more. Also, don't worry about the shops - you'll usually have something better than whatever is being sold anyway, and if not you'll find one soon enough.
-
The problem I have with Christianity is the ridiculous contradictions that are such a part of the whole thing. I don't disagree with the sentiment - love thy neighbour and all that - but the people who take every word of the bible or the pope or whatever are just blind.

This seems to have become more the Bjork thread than the music thread. :p

I couldn't possibly go to Uni and live at home. My neighbour goes to Edinburgh, a 30 minute drive away, and lives at home. I just couldn't do that - it's not the proper Uni experience if you don't move out.
