Would love if there was a major plot twist like this. Highly doubt Nintendo will aim for that...happy to be proven wrong, though

I'm sorry you guys, but Iceland deserverd it and I was cheering for them during the whole match. Not because I dislike England but Iceland played such a wonderful tournament and they stepped it up even more today.

I think, with the technology currently available, even going back to Zelda 1 it is reinventing the series. There's a lot of stuff you couldn't do back in the day, which you now can. And with the previous 3D Zeldas being almost the same in every way I stand by saying that this is a reinvention. But I do see your point. I don't want to agree, though, because to me that would mean taking a step back instead of moving forward. I hope so, but there's only so high they will go with the difficulty and as some people on here know I'm not one for easy games I need challenge Yeah, as I've said: Giving players a choice is great. And because I didn't know that the temperature played a role in that scene (I didn't pay close attention because of spoilers) - thanks to you and @kav82 for pointing out the cold climate - I found the approach (cutting down trees) weird. Now I still think it's...odd? I feel restricted in my actions when certain aspects (in this case temperature) prevent me from going the easy way (no, it doesn't pose a challenge...it's simply a restriction). But that's just me. Probably should've elaborated. What I meant was that there was a lot of empty space, in the sense that the foliage was very sparse. I'd like to see dense forests with deers running around, rocky mountains (heh), a maze of rivers, wildlife, etc. What I've seen so far were just plain fields with not much going on. I know that they've kept the story secret, but Hyrule falling into ruin isn't that much different to what we've seen before...some evil force (whoever that might be....) wrecked shit...Link comes to save the day. And that he has awoken isn't something special - unless it turns into some Assassins Creed subplot Yup, but I'd still prefer a deeper combat system. Yeah, I don't doubt there will be dungeons. But I fear that they won't be as extensive as the "outside world" looks to be, which will cause a disconnection. Again, this is just personal preference. See the first paragraph of this post. This is basically the crux of my posts...I don't want to destroy anybody's hype. Heck, I'm glad that Nintendo gets so much positive reactions. But I do think this Zelda won't be revolutionary or new or inventive.

Now that I've put some thought into how I feel about Breath of the Wild I'm ready to give my opinion. First of all: It will be a good, quite possibly even a great game. I will most likely enjoy it, but won't buy it anytime in the next 1 or 2 years (after the Wii U fiasco I will hold off on getting the NX at launch, no matter how good it seems to be). Secondly: My post won't have a "real" structure. It will be a collection of my thoughts about Breath of the Wild without any coherence. If I contradict myself, I apologize. To preface my opinion: I haven't seen a lot. I have seen the trailer and the first segment of the treehouse stream and a video about a couple of shrines. I won't watch anymore because spoilers. That is why my opinion is based on a fraction of the apparent fraction that was shown to the public. Now to the main event... As much as I can see how this new Zelda reinvents the Zelda formula, I just can't get behind how many view this as some kind of Second Coming. What I've seen is a game that takes lots and lots of things from other games, slaps it into one and thinks it's enough. In my opinion, it's not. All the little aspects like cooking, equipment stats, climbing, cutting down trees, etc might cause a "disconnection" (is that a real word?) between dungeons (what I think make Zelda games) and everything else. Of course, I don't know if what I suspect will turn out to be true because I don't know anything about dungeons. What I would love to see: HUGE dungeons with varying environments in each so that exploring them will be interesting. If the outside world is as large as it seems then having the usual-sized dungeons will cause the "disconnection" I mentioned. Then there are the 100 shrines. I don't like the idea because from what I've seen the puzzles seem to be generic, easy and boring. Combat rooms won't really help me sway towards positivity because I think the combat looks as boring and easy as it does in all the 3D Zelda games. Now on to something that I think is just weird (and that is a little nitpicky for some): I've seen someone "build" a bridge out of trees to get to a raft. Can you not swim? If you can't, why not? If you can, why would anybody make a bridge to reach that raft? Mind you, I do like playing around with things I have at my disposal in video games, but if it should serve a "real" purpose I will always choose the easy way, which in this case would be: Swim to the raft. Here's what worries me most about the game: Story. I think Zelda is due for an epic tale of heroism, kingdoms at war, love, hate, uprising, rebellion, etc. We've heard that you could play the game without unfolding the story and I'm fine with that. It gives us a choice. What we haven't heard (and that is what worries me): What is the story about? Will it change up the usual Zelda-formula? Will it have meaningful/interesting sidequests? Will the towns be populated and lively? Until I hear more about that (as spoilerfree as it can be) I suspect that only the Zelda-gameplay will get much needed additions/changes and the story will remain as flat and 2-dimensional as it has always been. Now the combat...I'll say it again: 3D-Zelda combat has always been boring and it looks to me that it'll stay that way. A two button combo system would work great, I think. One button for heavy attacks, one for fast attacks, different combos. Each weapon has a different move set, some enemies are more suspectible to heavy attacks, etc. You catch my drift. My 2 cents about the technical side: I don't think it looks all that beautiful visually. The art style is great, don't get me wrong, but the world so far just seems empty. With the NX coming up, I really hope that everything we've seen will get a major upgrade. The audio will - as always - be awesome. I'm sure of that. tl;dr: I can see the hype, but I don't understand the IMMENSE hype that it gets. It will most likely reinvent Zelda, but it isn't as new, creative and inventive as some think it is. Now, with all the worries I have and all the things I'm not so fond of: This game, this approach that Nintendo is taking with one of their greatest franchises is hopefully a sign of things to come. I think I've said it once in the dedicated thread: Nintendo took one step out of their bubble. Now I want them to take a journey through the outside world, explore what there is to see, be inspired by what others do (software and hardware) and slowly but surely come back to glory. @Hero\-of\-Time, @King_V, I think it was you who wanted to read my impressions Edit: There are things that I haven't written down here, because I simply forgot them. I tend to think about stuff like this when I'm almost asleep so...

Source (Reddit) Thank fucking Christ. It sounds like a temporary fix and I really hope they do something about the 360° field of view and almost instant lock-on further down the line (maybe increase the damage again if changes happen in that area). I'm also quite happy that I managed to get a 20 kill streak with Torbjörn before the patch (don't hate me, I usually don't play "build turret and hide"; what most people don't realise is that Torjbörn's weapon is actually incredible). Edit: Cool match I just had: 5 Hanzos + Zarya in the enemy team. For the first 2 1/2 minutes we couldn't even get close to the first objective. Then one team mate and I switched to Tracer, another one stuck to Reinhardt, one guy chose Hanzo and a Mercy+Pharah combo showed up. Reinhardt and Hanzo kept taking out single enemies, Tracer and I disrupted the shit out the defending team and Mercy and Pharah unleashed hell once in a while. We captured the first objective with only 10 seconds to spare. The final payload-push was tough because it was quite easy for the 5 Hanzos to focus fire. But Reinhardt and me switched to Winston, put up barriers, the remaining teammates provided a Team Kill and it was a victory Thank God it wasn't a 5 Torbjörn team...

So satisfying if your team decides a match in the final 2 minutes with perfectly timed hero changes. We struggled to capture the final objetctive on Temple of Anubis. For the first 8 minutes I played Zarya because we had 2 Reapers. I figured that my protective barriers would help (and they did). The enemy team switched things up and brought a Torbjörn and Bastion (because this happens in every match). My barriers weren't helping, we kept dropping like flies because even as a Widowmaker I couldn't take out the turrets as the map layout makes it easy for them to be placed in areas out of my line of sight. 1 1/2 minutes to go, one Reaper switched to Reinhardt, I switched to Lucio. We grouped up, I managed to charge my ultimate up very quickly during the final fight. 40 seconds to go, we entered the objective, the Reaper stayed a bit behind. We held our ground for 10 seconds and then we decided to time our moves perfectly: Reinhardt smashed the enemy Bastion into oblivion while our Reaper teleported on to the objective, in the exact moment he arrived I dropped my ultimate. Next thing I saw: Reaper using his ultimate killing the remaining enemy team. Then we managed to keep the enemy from entering the objective. Lucio's Soundwave really helped with that. I need to start saving the gameplay recordings Edit: Proof that I am not shit. Footage from the match I played with Sheikah and Shorty: This should've been the POTG...

At first I wondered what the heck you were doing. On several occasions it looked like you were shooting at ghosts only you could see Eventually I figured that you experienced quite a lot of lag. Still we managed to make a good team and in the first two matches the other 3 did a great job, too. : peace:
-
By the way, did you see how good I was? 5 medals, 4 of them gold and POTG as Zenyatta. I'M NOT SHIT. :p

Happy Birthday Animal Have a great day and keep being as awesome as you are.

It's mostly the right wing parties who want a referendum in their country. And the UK referendum gives them basically free "propaganda". A very frightening situation. It most likely won't happen in Germany, even though there is a right wing party gaining popularity, but I think in France and the Netherlands it might become a problem.
-
Have you gotten to the Baron questline, yet?
-
God, I hope the new Zelda has a card game. Jokes aside, it looks like The Witcher 3 is just not for you (duh). Go get Overwatch.
-
People don't vote for maps, game mode variety is ok (I think one or two more game modes would be great), and what Shorty said. Great matches @Sheikah and @Shorty (I think). Well, except that last one
-
I haven't played with anyone I know 99% of the time. And I'm pretty sure I will play this for a long time. Especially because maps and characters will be added for free.
-
Well, there are reasons for that :p Maybe I just have to play more and get matched with higher level players. They might have more understanding of the game.
-
I don't know. If I regularly get 3-4 gold medals in a match, mostly for objective kills and objective time because no one goes for the objective in the matches I lose, I don't consider myself shit... But maybe I am shit and the others are even shittier...but then I don't know how I will ever be matched with acceptable players when I keep losing games (which apparently is the basis for "skill" in quickplay). He isn't OP so I guess you are just good I haven't played Reaper that much but he is such a great character for flanking and taking out tanks.
-
Yes @Rummy, BUY IT. :p Had a great match just now. We were on the defending side and lost the first objective in 60 seconds. The team adjusted (a rare sight...), we switched heroes more than once (because the enemy team did the same) and managed to get the win in the end. It was really close but so much fun With the right team the game is incredible. But somehow I still get matched with a lot of morons...for every match my team wins I get 3-4 with horrible teammates. It will probably be even worse once competitive play launches. The good players will most likely switch to that while I don't really like competitive and get stuck with noobs in quick play
-
I'll probably miss that, too, because it's my girlfriend's great aunt's birthday and we're invited. I think I'll just turn on the TV...makes for a great first impression as I haven't met the lady's great aunt, yet By the way, just listen to this: Audio Icelandic commentator going wild on that 2:1 against Austria

I've just looked at the trophy list for the first time and my god...Rapid Discord... "Get 4 kills or assists with Zenyatta's Orb of Discord within 6 seconds in Quick or Competitive Play." I think it's nearly impossible without boosting beacause it's a) very situational and b) the Orb of Discord has a slow travel time, i.e. you need to be quite close to the 4 enemies but as we all know Zenyatta is squishy as fuck. If you want to boost it you need a lot of players... Really hope Blizzard will change that. Make it 3 in 6 seconds (or 3 in 8), or 4 with 6 seconds inbetween each kill/assist. Anyway, I'm not on a trophy hunt for Overwatch (yet) because I still can't keep track of everything at all times so there's no time for me to focus on certain activities Think I'll play this for a bit tonight

Wow, the last 8 matches have been disastrous for my points...my predictions were way off. And now that a lot of the bigger teams play against each other my predictions for the quarterfinals are also fucked...I will lose so many points Still, Hungary - Portugal was an incredible game. I wanted Portugal to lose, though... Two days without football...what am I to do with my life

Shuhei Yoshida claims the “new high-end PS4 is still PS4, so the life cycle is not going to be shorter.” Source - quote at minute 6:06 So it's as everybody on here says. Yoshida is also pleasantly surprised at Microsofts's Scorpio-announcement. "It's very very super interesting what they are doing." I like Yoshida and Spencer. They always find nice words for their "rival" companies.
