  1. Disney must be pissed at EA. The Star Wars brand is now being associated with shady practices in video games. Seeing it in headlines with "gambling", "dangerous for kids' mental health" in mainstream media isn't something you want to happen. As I've mentioned before: With loot boxes kids are introduced to gambling and I absolutely despise this practice. Here's hoping something significant will come out of this. It's the EU so it will probably take years If loot boxes will be banned we can be sure to see more DLC like "Weapon Pack 1", "Emotes", "Skin Pack 1", etc. in the future. It's the "better" practice but still bad.
  2. Yes. That is what I've been concerned about, as well. Really hope the ban will go through, but I'm not that optimistic.
  3. Got the game this morning. Spent most of the day in Skyrim It's quite addictive. Going for a Stealth/Battle Mage (Magic and One-Handed) build. Not sure how viable that is in the long run but I don't care. Stealth, Pickpocketing and Lockpicking is what I always go for in RPGs anyway. This time I wanted to try out some Magic, too. Have played this for a bit when it first released on PC years ago but never really delved into it. It was during the time I really moved away from PC gaming. This time I'll finish it
  4. Yeah, but not as twitch-reflex heavy as most twin stick shooters. It's also a rogue-like. Definitely recommended, but you know me...I see a rogue-like and I'm in love
  5. Ah I see, so it's as stupid as the movie's conclusion
  6. I don't understand...
  7. I just watched The Game and I have no idea how I feel about it. It has to be one of the best movies I've ever seen with quite possibly the worst conclusion to a story that I have ever experienced. I think I don't like it...and that's coming from a guy who likes mind fuck movies.
  8. It's on sale on Amazon.de. 18€. Because I don't have anything to play...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... Also bought the DLC for Darkest Dungeon for PS4/PSVita. I might finally dive into it. Already scared of the Black Friday sale that's inevitable for the PSN store on Friday...
  9. These two are supposed to be great JRPGs and since I'm a sucker for those I always wanted to play them. I bought Suikoden II for my Vita but never started it (also got the predecessor but the second installment is apparently far superior). Xenogears is quite expensive to obtain and sadly it hasn't been released on the PSN store, yet. Not sure if I'll ever going to play it unless I resort to some emulation magic. I really want to know what all the fuzz is about with this one It's crazy expensive these days, sadly...same with Xenogears, looks like some alternative means to play are necessary. I own the game but never played it. Really want to, though. It's supposed to be weird and I like weird stuff
  10. Gal Gadot is sexy as fuck. That's why. The movie was kinda lame, though.
  11. Jesus...the first experience I had with Xbox Live was Halo 3 on the 360 10 years ago...so many great moments with my mates back then. Oh boy...I'm getting old
  12. Battle Royale games have that thrill of you constantly being on your toes, checking every corner, being paranoid. Haven't played PUBG but you should give Fortnite Battle Royale a chance. It's free on PS4 and is a blast.
  13. No worries. I'm guilty of mixing both (microtransactions and DLC) from time to time, so I understand why you interpreted it that way. It should be, but I fear that this isn't the case. I can't base this on anything other than what I've seen from several kids and their parents in recent years, though.
  14. Have you tried turning it off and on again? In all seriousness, you should contact Sony. I've had good experiences with their support so far. Results may vary, though
  15. To me there's a difference between microtransactions and expansions/DLC. As I mentioned: The latter is fine if it's substantial and not vaguely described before release. As for microtransactions: They are shitty, in my opinion. No matter the game, no matter the implementation. Hearthstone, Awesomenauts, CoD, amiibo, various trading card games...This is just my opinion, though. But again, I don't really care. I hate that they made their way into many games but I ignore them in games I play. The biggest issue I have, as I've said a lot, is any kind of randomized system, i.e. loot boxes, card packs, etc. It enables gambling and with video games being easily available to kids I absolutely despise this approach to making money.
  16. So...Neogaf. What a shit show. Am I right?
  17. Boring awards. BotW will obviously win everything. NieR, as far as I've read around the internet, should've been nominated in more categories. PUBG should not have been nomainated at all because it's not a finished game, yet. These awards are stupid anyway because the most popular games will win as everybody is allowed to vote But it will be fun to read how fanboys defend their favourite game and talk shit about other games
  18. Never played Fire Emblem Heroes so I didn't know that. Well...they become shittier each day I'm very interested to see what the AC mobile game will be like. I fear the worst.
  19. I consider any kind of microtransaction, be it cosmetic only or game changing, shitty. And that's why Nintendo, in my opinion, is almost as bad as all the other devs who do this. As long as Nintendo doesn't include a mechanic that enables gambling (i.e. loot boxes) to kids they are slightly better And with a lot of DLC I don't have much of a problem. Most of the DLC I have bought was well worth the money I spent. I do, however, get all the information I need to gauge whether I should buy it or not before I actually make the purchase.
  20. I know I might get some heated responses but to be honest...Nintendo is almost as bad. To me amiibo is only slightly less shitty than microtransactions in other games. The only thing amiibo have going for them is that they can be used with several games. And seeing season passes in Nintendo games makes me sad. I had the same thought. In recent months I've only paid full price for one game (Destiny 2). The others have been bought second hand or during a sale. And I don't regret it. I had a lot of fun (even with games that include microtransactions) but as you said: A lot of games just don't feel like they are made with the thought in mind to bring joy to gamers. With many games I've played this year it felt like it was me who had to change how I play a game to make it fun, instead of the game just being fun on its own...if that makes any sense...it's difficult for me to describe these thoughts in English. The absolute most fun I've had in recent years was with Titanfall 2. The campaign was brilliant and with every mechanic I could feel how the developers intended it to be fun. Fun to play, fun to experience, fun to get wrecked on higher difficulties, fun to wreck on the easiest difficulty. Everything was enjoyable from start to finish. It's sad that this has become a rarity. Then there's Destiny 2. What I've played I've enjoyed. The shooting is great, the campaign was cool, but everything else...it was simply a matter of: Can I make it work? Can I get enough people together to take on the Raid? Can I manage to get this one weapon even though I don't need it? I set out goals for myself which isn't necessarily a bad thing but when you had to keep doing this for years now...it's getting stale. However, if a game is particularly great I do like setting out goals/create challenges. Most of the time this only happens with classics, though... I'm anticipating the relase of the next 8Bitdo controller so I can finally put my Raspberry Pi to good use. I've also set up my SNES again and played through DKC and Super Mario World...the good old times.
  21. This made me chuckle
  22. Same with Doom. On their own the games look kinda fine but compared to the other versions they look pretty bad. But it's 60fps so that's cool. How this is not available in the game at release is beyond me. It's basically the reason to play the game. Match-up with friends and play against randoms...they better patch it in a couple of days after release...
