  1. Still got the receipt for this and haven't registered with Microsoft so not to worry about the warranty.

Basically, I bought this for FIFA 10, which I'm now bored of... And for GTA 4 for an essay on cultural representations of America and have recently finished it. Plus, I have no where near enough time to play it, so it's up for sale because I have no job and neeeed money.

So I'm looking for about £150 (collected or +P&P) for the mint, boxed, console + all standard accessories. As a bonus it comes packaged with official Microsoft HDMI lead w/audio adapter and SOLD TO EDDAGE!.

    - FIFA 10 £25

I have feedback on ebay as nicklone86 and would be willing to meet in Leeds, York or somewhere close by if it makes things easier.

  2. Hi guys,

I know this isn't really a game that is "hot in the news" but I've recently picked it up again.

I found a good character-kart combination for me which makes races a bit easier. I usually go for King Boo with the Offroader. Great handling and still good drifting. Plus the fact that King Boo is a heavyweight (you got to explain to me how a floating ghost is a heavyweight but ehh) makes him less easily tossed off the track by other carts.

I really like King Boo :)

Anyways, my real problem are those @! blue shells. I played a cup on 100Cc yesterday and I got 5 (!) blue shells in my face in one damn race! I admit it doesn't happen often. I usually 'only' get 2 or 3 of those but damn... 100Cc... 5 blue shells!

I'm trying to get all cups on 150Cc, but I'm currently stuck. I keep getting bombed. It usually goes like this: I'm doing fine for the whole race, usually on the first or second place. Then, when there is half a lap left and I'm on the first place, I get bombed by a series of items. Blue shell, then when I barely landed back from the explosion, I get red shelled, then smashed around by bypassing carts and OH LOOK! I'm last! And with barely half a lap left, I can't get back in front unless a miracle happens.

is there a certain style of driving that can reduce this? I mean I know blue shells, lightning, pow blocks and stuff can't be dodged but is there a certain tactic or driving style to avoid getting struck so much by these? Like being second all the time and try to get to the first position right before the finish? I donno.

Don't get me wrong though: I still love this game and I prefer this than a piss easy racing game. Though I miss the coop possibility like in MKDD, this Mario Kart game is my second favorite. I just wish there was a normal Boo as a lightweight :) And I wish there was the possibility to choose to race alone, or in pairs like in MKDD.

I know this isn't 'hot in the news' but there is a search button located at at the bottom of the topic list. Search for Mario Kart Wii and place all discussion in there,

Plus King Boo is crap, it's all about Petey Piranha.

  3. Well, I've put some serious hours in today, spent nearly 3 hours online this aft and am about a third into the single player. I would definetely say the visuals on the Wii version don't hurt it. If you're happy with your Wii then you'll be happy with this, it's one of the best looking games on the Wii.

I think the experience is down to what you want from it. I think the gameplay, especially the online, is far faster and more fluid on the Wii.

I don't think this will seem tame at all. The online multi is much faster and more hectic on the Wii because of the nature of the controls. I got to level 55 online with MW on the 360 and on the Wii it feels very different.

I've also got MW2 but haven't put it in yet, I'm literally too engrossed in this :)

The lack of Wii Speak doesn't hurt it at all for me. I played online with two of my friends and we just chatted over Skype. Plus, when I play online I usually just play alone against randoms.

I think when we all get online with this, it might be a good idea to use Skype or Party Chat (for all those sexy xbox owners). Especially if we have weekly meets.

Personally I love this more than the Conduit, had a mess around on Single Player and Multi and I'm finding the controls amazing. They seem to be more intuitive than the Conduit and feel more natural to me (the Red Steel veteran :P)

Buy it everyone, best FPS on Wii! See you online!

  4. The PAL version has been leaked online (0____o)

But it aint running for haxxers :D. It has some kind of new IOS on the disk which is making it crash constantly for those running it from a burned DVD. Furthermore it won't run off USB loaders.

A win for Nintendo or only a matter of time before it is patched? Happy to see it being a tough nut to crack. It's about time Nintendo upped their anti-piracy measures.

By all accounts the leaked version is a fake, I would wait until after release before we know for sure whether or not Nintendo has upped their game...

As for NSMB Wii itself, I must say I'm really not looking forward to it. :/

The DS version was comparatively poor to 4 of my favourite games as a child and failed to capture the magic that 1,2,3 and World brought me. Add that to the fact that I never, ever play local multiplayer and this game just gives me an overwhelming 'meh' feeling. I'll probably pick it up cheap or sencond hand and bash through the single player, but I doubt I'll enjoy it as much as a certain 2D side-scrolling game featuring a blob and some kid.

  5. Judging from the lack of bumping I guess no one else picked this up? Criminal!

I have just started it this morning and im already in love with it. It has to be one of the most charming and relaxing games not just on the Wii but on any console. The art style used is fantastic and it goes to show that 2D gaming when done right can still outdo 3D games in terms of visuals. The animation used on the enemies and the boy are also top notch which help bring this 2D world alive. Add into the mix a very touching and soothing soundtrack and you have an amazing game on your hands.

I can see this bombing at retail but having a cult status much like DeBlob. I cant praise the game enough and I know a few members who would love it.;)

*points finger at Dazzy, Tapedeck, RedShell, Darksnowman and Flinky*

I also picked this up, and while I've played it very little due to other commitments I can tell it's going to be great. The art style is up there with the best on Wii and it's a great tribute to some of the great 2D platformers of the past. Can't wait to get some free time and sink my teeth into it but I urge everyone to pick it up, especially if you're a fan of 2D gaming.

  6. Smackdown VS Raw 2010 on Wii is bloody brilliant. Gave it a whirl tonight and just couldn't put it down. Classic/cube controls are good too. :-D

Yeah I got it the other day and it's the best 'rasslin game on the Wii by a mile. Ironically it's mainly because it does away with motion controls and is a straight PS2 port...

Still, much fun to play and I'm looking forward to getting a few friends round to enjoy this one to the extreme.

  7. To be fair it was a bit of a bullying session and I agree with the sentiments of Jayseven. Instead of trying to constantly quote him down or murk him on the points he made, actually countering them (which isn't hard, and often they didn't do it) would have been more effective and credible. But, as it was, he is such an incomprehensibly large tool that he still managed to flake and divulge over points like a school girl choosing her hairstyle on the first day of term, that he went into minus points on the credibility counter. It was great TV and the woman on the right was pure genius, her lols per minute ratio would put even the mighty ReZ to shame. Jack Straw was a bumbling idiot most of the time, particularly on Labour related issues. The others were non-features really.

It was a little too BNP-related for a topical politics discussion, but in the end, I think it served a valuable purpose and exposed who the BNP are to a wide number of people. I sincerely doubt it convinced people who didn't vote for them before to vote for them. If it convinced one person who voted BNP before, to change, then a positive outcome can be measured. I think giving them the platform to debate politics was the best thing to do because quite simply, they just don't have any. Just gratuitous amounts of HATRED.

  8. This looks ABYSMAL. It's a dreadful effort by the team. Sure graphics aren't everything but when they detract from the experience then it's time to ask questions. This isn't 1998, and there really is no excuse.

On the other hand, was funny seeing Crofty and Anthony Davidson join the long list of 'look how much fun we're having' Wii-celebrity line-up.

  9. Why this game is going to a) sell big and b) be as frickin' awesome as the first game.

Looking for instant gratification and stress relief? Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games: Nothing in this life comes close to the extraordinary amount of pleasure that is brought on by beating that idiotic hedgehog in a 100m sprint with a short, fat, middle aged Italian bloke.

Unlike typical video gaming fare (where killing is often the goal) instead of terminating the blue rat's existence, you are adding to his humiliation of not only living out his remaining years starring in dreadful, dreadful 'video games,' but you are now stripping away the one thing he was ever good at 15 years ago - Speed.

You can then rest, safe in the knowledge that he has done nothing semi-decent since the Dreamcast days and now he's just a washed up has been that gets his name dragged through the mud. He will probably die cold, sad and alone harking back to the days when he was once, the king of speed, but little all else. Now those days are over, he'll probably turn to heroin and every Sega fan boy will die inside a little too.

*The above statement glosses over the fact that all Sega fan boys are probably dead inside anyway*

    1st day purchase.

  10. This is how I do it:

In Vista, open Windows Media Player.

Press alt to bring up the menu, then tools > options.

Click Library tab then "Configure Sharing".

Tick the box "Share my Media" then OK.

A white box should appear with a list of devices in your network, if your 360 is on it will appear, click on it and click allow. In settings make sure it is set to share all your music. By default this will share everything in your Vista "Music" folder but you can choose other folders to monitor in the library tab.

It's OK, I've downloaded Tversity which is compatible with the 360 and now it's sorted it all for me, don't need to faff around with Windows settings.

    Thanks for your quick responses.!

  11. I have a question...

I'm trying to stream videos and music from my Laptop's external HDD to my Xbox. The only problem is I can't figure out how to get Vista to share the files on my HDD so the Xbox can see them and I have to copy them to my C drive to run them on my Xbox.

Is there anyway to get the Xbox to see my HDD at all???

P.S. I've tried plugging it directly in to the Xbox with no luck.. It's NTFS formatted not FAT32 :(

  12. I hate porn. I honestly can't stand it. It shows a very unrealistic view of sex, and sadly that is what young people start to think sex should be like. There is never any affection in there, just close-ups of the guy's penis entering whatever hole is available (often they don't even show the guy's face).

I honestly can't watch porn because I find it disgusting and a huge turn off. I've tried watching amateur porn hoping they would show a bit more love in there, but the ones I found tried to imitate the pornvideos from the big industry, so no luck there.

I agree with Eenuh. Although I do occasionally watch it, it has shattered what the 'reality' of sex is. Which is rather depressing...

  13. Really is a poor effort!

My love for F1 means I havn't totally gone off this game, but I think I'll probably just wait for the 2010 HD version for ultimate experience!

Agreed, so disappointing. Looks like Dirt 2 on Wii and will probably play like it too. I think it's time to accept that if people want to play die-hard racers they will need a 360 or PS3 which really is a shame...

  14. ALONSO TO FERRARI CONFIRMED FOR 3 YEARS!

Ferrari have announced that double world champion Fernando Alonso will join them for 2010 from Renault, replacing Kimi Raikkonen.

Ferrari said the Spaniard had signed a three-year contract and that he would partner Brazilian Felipe Massa.

Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali described Alonso, world champion in 2005-6, as an "amazing talent".

Raikkonen said: "I am very sad to be leaving a team with which I have spent three fantastic years."

The Finn, who won the drivers' title in his first year at Ferrari in 2007, is tipped to be join McLaren.

As part of the cascade of driver moves that will follow Alonso's switch, Pole Robert Kubica is understood to have already signed a contract to replace Alonso at Renault.

The 28-year-old's switch to Ferrari has been an open secret in F1 for weeks and BBC Sport understands he signed his contract as long ago as July 2008.

A Ferrari source says there are options to extend Alonso's deal, and that he will be earning an annual salary in the region of 19-25 million euros (£17.3-22.8m).

Raikkonen had a contract with Ferrari until the end of 2010, but the team have negotiated an early release. Italian Giancarlo Fisichella will be Ferrari's reserve driver.

Domenicali said: "Of course, we wish to thank Kimi for everything he has done during his time with Ferrari.

"In his first year with us, he managed to win the drivers' title, thus making his contribution to Ferrari's history and he played a vital role in our taking of the constructors' title in 2007 and 2008.

"Even during a difficult season like this one, he has demonstrated his great talent, with several good results, including a great win in Spa and we are sure that we can share more good times together in the final three races of this season."

Raikkonen added: "With common consent, we have agreed to terminate the contract binding me to Ferrari to the end of 2010, one year ahead of schedule.

"I have always felt at home with everyone here and I will have many happy memories of my time with the team."

Ferrari's statement did not include any remarks from Alonso, who is in Japan ahead of this weekend's grand prix.

The most successful active driver in F1, Alonso signed his Ferrari contract as long ago as July 2008, according to sources close to the team.

Ferrari had been planning to announce it at the end of the season, but it had become such common knowledge that the Italian team have decided to bring that forward.

The move brings to an end Alonso's relationship with the Renault team, for whom he has driven in all but two of his eight years in F1.

He was cleared of any involvement in the recent race-fixing scandal, in which Renault were found to have asked his team-mate Nelson Piquet Jr to crash at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix to aid Alonso's chances of victory.

Team boss Flavio Briatore and engineering director Pat Symonds left the team in the wake of Renault's decision not to contest the charges.

But an investigation by governing body the FIA found no evidence that Alonso, who did go on to win the race, knew of the conspiracy.

Alonso made his F1 debut for Minardi in 2001, moved to Renault as their test driver in 2002 and was promoted to their race team in 2003.

He became the youngest race-winner in F1 history when he won the 2003 Hungarian Grand Prix, and its youngest world champion when he won his first drivers' title in 2005.

He has since lost those two records to Sebastian Vettel, who broke the win mark in Italy in 2008, and Lewis Hamilton when he became world champion last year.

Alonso went on to win a second consecutive championship in 2006, beating Ferrari's Michael Schumacher in a straight fight, before moving to McLaren as Lewis Hamilton's team-mate in 2007.

Alonso signed a three-year contract with McLaren, but he left after one season following a tempestuous relationship with the team. Hamilton and Alonso finished the season tied on points just a point behind the champion, Raikkonen.

Alonso rejoined Renault for 2008, winning in Singapore and, with one of his best performances, the following race in Japan, but the team have been uncompetitive this season.

    Let the floodgates open!

    Edit:

    According to Autosport.com...

    Barrichello > Williams (in talks)

    Rosberg > Brawn

    Raikkonen > McLaren

I hope that Glock, Kubica and Sutil all have drives next year because they are all highly talented young drivers that more than deserve a drive at a good team. It seems as though Sutil will be staying with Force India.

    Rumours are that new Team Lotus will sign Alex Yoong or at least one Malaysian driver;

Toro Roso will be keeping the same line up of Alguesuari and Buemi

Toyota will probably pull out of the sport in the next few weeks :(

  15. Here's an interesting point of discussion...

On 22nd of October 2009, Leader of the BNP Nick Griffin will appear on Question Time. The other confirmed guest is Jack Straw (Labour counciller for Blackburn, an area where the BNP support is fairly strong). This signifies a significant u-turn by both the Labour Party and BBC who previously had refused to engage with the BNP, however after their recent electoral success they perhaps feel they cannot ignore them, a view I personally share.

So in your view, are the BBC right to let the leader of the BNP have a legitimate platform to speak, despite his obvious views?

Should they allow such an inherrently racist orginaisation to promote their views on national television?

Does freedom of speech mean they have a right to say whatever they want?

I welcome Nick Griffin to Question Time because given the chance to speak and be questioned on the spot (hopefully by some good panel members as well as the audience) will expose him for the person he is. Silencing the BNP and shutting them out is in itself a form of facism and if they were given the chance to open their mouths people would soon realise who they were. It's happened on TV before, Griffin is not an intelligent man and cannot keep up his 'family-friendly' image very consistantly. People who believe what he says and go out and vote for him are clearly openly racist or too stupid/ignorant to see the truth and maybe this will convince some people who have voted in the past that it was a mistake. I am pretty confident that if the BBC cleverly selects the other guests he will make a complete and total tit of himself in front of a few million people.

The only thing that could be better than this is if Mark Collett was representing the BNP because he is so stupid, he would be guaranteed to embarrass himself and the BNP. Even Russell Brand made him nearly cry once.
