  1. Anyway. PR? Going to happen or not do you think?

In the name of common sense and democracy. I certainly hope so.

And Ganepark, you are completely right  I just get too involved and passionate when debating with Tories, when really, all Marxism has taught me is that they can't be reasoned with...

Oh well, back to planning the revolution ;)

    I provided evidence of how Labour wasted money;

That's a whole different argument, one I will gladly take part in. Can't stand labour and everything they stand for, their nanny state approach to governance is almost (but not quite), sorry, ignore that... it's effectively as bad as the Conservatives love affair with un-restricted free market economics.

  2. Doesn't matter. Minority means that those views will never materialise; any party may have members that suddenly say something out of the blue, but as long as there's sense the ideas won't come to light.

Bull-fucking-shit. Your whole argument is basically posting links to online articles that you've mindlessly absorbed; no doubt you'll do something else now, but just because I can't be bothered this Friday night to counter with some links doesn't make you correct.

Ha, you expect me to spend half an hour watching this at 10PM on a Friday? You're off your fucking nut, son.

Attacking your choice of constantly changing words isn't good enough? What, you want me to insult your appearance instead? Give me a photo then, I'll see what I can do.

Off the top of my head, wasting money on pointless ID cards has been one way that Labour has stupidly blown money.

    Well we'll see.

Yawn. Still no evidence and now I'm "off my fucking nut."

Stop being narrow minded, come back with something to say that isn't an attack and if you want evidence that I haven't 'mindlessly absorbed' then I'm happy to provide it... oh wait. I did, but it's 10pm on a Friday and you can't be arsed... :/ It's always excuses with the Tory party isn't it...

You're not even worth arguing with.

  3. Like you said, small minority. Therefore, never going to happen.

Well well, the opposition had something bad to say? I'll never.

So where do the Tory's plan to raise extra money from then? Businesses? Young people? Single people? The poor?

As it's factually and obviously not married couples or the millionaires.

And even if it is a small minority, it doesn't hide the fact that people in the party hold those views and would be prepared to argue for them.

Well done in regurgitating the word of others and trying to pass it off as your own opinion (sure sign of a media brainwashed person).

Sorry, I'll reserve judgement until I hold a PhD in economics next time. Yes, it is my own opinion that has been influenced by what others have said, by what I have learned at university and what I have come to understand from reading academic, non-academic and media publications. Not simply reading the guardian and going 'OH YEAH THAT'S RIGHT!' They were merely easy accessible reference points, something, once again you've failed to produce...

Btw - there are many ways to go about making money go further rather than taxing people more just because you think you can (borderline communism here). Blowing money on stupid things is not one of them.

Evidence? Ideas? Theories? Or is this just your own opinion?

You know, just like the Conservatives, if you shout it enough times with nothing grounded in fact to back it up, it doesn't make it true.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00scbd2/HARDtalk_David_Harvey_Marxist_Academic/

If you've got half an hour to spare, there's a world renowned economic expert who gives a good description of what a Conservative approach to economics means. Maybe watch that, come back with something that counters it, maybe. I don't know a plan from the Conservatives which shows what they ACTUALLY plan to do, because I'm pretty bored of replying to nothing now.

Could you sound any more pretentious right now if you tried?

Defining a word for me that undoubtedly I already knew. But my point still stands.

Could you contribute something concrete and non-condescending to the discussion, please? Attacking my choice of words isn't really moving the discussion forward. I'll make it clear for you..

The NHS would be much worse off (under funded) under the conservatives than it is now.

  4. You said public services would be destroyed, not worsened. So, yeah.

They would be effectively destroyed, they NHS is already in a mess. The simple fact is many of them don't care about these sorts of things. The Mining Industry and the Train services were two examples of services that needed investment and reorganisation, but instead they sold them off to line their own pockets. And if there wasn't a big revolt some of them (granted a small minority) would try and sell off the NHS in favour of an American style system, look up Daniel Hannan.

I warn you not to have an urgent need for the NHS. Sure, the Tories say they've ringfenced health spending, but check the small print. They plan to drop Labour's guarantee on waiting times. No longer will any patient be sure to see a cancer specialist within two weeks: under the Tories, that decision will be left to the consultant. Fine for the sharp-elbowed middle class, who are used to barging their way to the front of the queue. Not so good for the poorest who, all the data shows, struggle to get the most from public services.

Well I'm sure you can add up better than economic experts. They should have you on board.

Very fucking clever. I'm not adding up better than experts, I'm merely repeating what Alistair Darling, Gordon Brown and Vince Cable have already said. If you cant understand that less tax = service cuts then it's you that can't add up.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/personal-view/5570754/Tory-plans-to-cut-inheritance-tax-send-the-wrong-message.html

    http://www.general-election-2010.co.uk/uk-party-political-news/tory-inheritance-tax-cut-costs-6bn-%E2%80%93-cable

Wake up to the facts. They only benefit the rich at the expense of everyone else. Same. Old. Tories.

Don't bother replying if you're just going to insult me. Back it up with some evidence.

  5. I strongly doubt that. So what you're saying is that in 2 years time, if the Conservatives had been in power for a while, you wouldn't be able to call an ambulance if you'd hurt yourself or a fire engine if your house is on fire?

I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying public funding would be CUT not removed. The health service and education would be stretched. Prices on public transport would undoubtedly rise.

Really, that's one of those statements that you can't really disprove since it requires a lot of time to pass, therefore it's hard to call you out on it. But we all know that's bullshit; if that ever happened, Conservatives would never be voted in ever again.

No, it's simple economic and mathematics. Cut taxes = less money to spend which = spending cut.

It's not hard to call me out on it, it's a simple premise. They haven't published figures because it doesn't add up. What is the actual point in increasing the inheritance tax threshold to 1 million pounds? Affects a tiny minority of people and creates a huge black hole in gained tax, drastically affecting how much they can then spend.

    Same Tories. Same useless policies.

  6. I'm a bit worried for Nico... :hmm:

Do you think Mercedes have completely built this new car for Schumacher?... I think they would and I'm pretty put out by that.

ALOT has changed on that car and suddenly Schumi is 0.5 quicker than Nico.

And considering Schumacher has been 0.5 slower up until now... what... he's suddenly found 1 second!

Yes it's only practice, but still!

Yeah, I'm also suspicious but I'm sure Nico will still do well and prove he has exceptional talent.

As for Schumacher, I just desperately want one more epic performance, it would cement him in my mind as a legend.

  7. Doesn't matter what you say, your post was still just silly bullshit.

Actually it was a joke, intended to humour people. Sorry for failing so epically. I'll try harder next time.

You can't deny, however that the conservative party haven't changed. Their policy on taxation is completely laughable and will comprehensively destroy the public services many people rely on.

I respect someone who voted for a right wing candidate because they actually looked at the policies of the candidate, ect. and did some research far more than someone who voted for a left wing candidate simply because someone (or an organization) told them they should. It works both ways obviously though.

I heavily researched all the left wing candidates and I thought the green party by far had the fairest policy which I thought would be most beneficial to society, the economy and the environment.

  8. Some papers suggested Lib Dems and Labour. Does that mean the people who voted for them are brainless zombies

Besides, the people we're voting for are all bullshitters and don't follow through with most of what they promised.

I don't read newspapers and I voted Green.

  9. It's great to see regurgitated media/word of mouth opinion. Lemme guess; they eat poor people, amirite? Course they do. Your father says so.

My father has voted conservative for 30 years. As did his father. Does my opinion mean I must be a poor person because I hate the Tories... amirite?

Well I'll be damned if If I've formed my own opinion after going through higher education. It was just a stereotypical rant, and the Tory policies prove they just haven't changed what so ever.

  10. Hi, I'm a Tory. I piss on the poor to maintain a better life for myself. I don't believe in a strong tax system because I drive a car and can afford Bupa healthcare. I don't feel like I should prop up state schools because I already pay £20K a year in private education fees. I know that crime may rise under a conservative government but I've heard great things about gated communities - so when I buy a house there and tune into Sky News I won't even have to acknowledge the poor's existence, except when my maid comes every Tuesday to iron my long-johns. I know I'll be safe in my middle management job in the financial sector because the poor are only really employed in the service sector or in industry. And if the worst does come to the worst, I'll have my inheritance and estate to fall back on.

Oh what's that, a different opinion? Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of Fox-hunting being legalised. My erection and subsequent smug sense of self superiority has now been exponentially increased because I can go out and ravage some innocent foxes for a lol and destroy the local countryside. Tally-ho eh, what.

    I am, so awesome.

...Rant over. So glad these twats didn't win the election outright.

  11. Harrogate is now a tories zone....wtf....we've been Liberal since forever...fuckers.

To be fair, it fits the bill of Tory town pretty well, I was surprised it wasn't already. Every time I've been there the impressing I always come away with is "oh, what a bunch of stuck up tossers" before childishly referring to the place to 'Harro-gay.'

Have you also noticed how everyone in Yorkshire calls it "Harro-gut" to rhyme with "surrogate" but everyone from the place calls it "Harrow-gate."

To me, that says it all.

  12. I'm going with Labour, as it's the only party in my constituency that can beat the Tories. Voting for Lib Dem here is like pissing into the wind. Hung parliament may be mighty interesting...

    You're voting twice? Confused face!

I have a voting card in Leeds (uni) and York (home) so I'm going to use both of them. I'm just as confused as you but I find it best to just ignore it in the hope that no-one will notice

  13. E I E I E I O!

Up the football league we go!

If we win promotion, this is what we'll sing:

We are Oxford! We are Oxford! Wilder is our king!

    *ahem*

I'm going to Wembley! I can't wait, I haven't been to Wembley before. I went to the Emirates a couple of years ago and the atmosphere was immense, but this should be much better. I'm nervous though, York City have done very well to topple Luton and they are an excellent team worthy of league football.

I've seen pictures of the Luton game on Sky and I can't say I'm too surprised. Every club in the country has a minority of idiot fans but Luton have a sizable minority and have caused trouble in many away matches this season. This incident and yesterday's incident at Hillsborough just reminds you that hooliganism isn't dead and I guess the FA will be very worried, especially with the World Cup mere weeks away.

Boooooooo!!! Oxford are rubbish, we beat Luton and we will beat you, hahaha! I'm also going to Wembley, at the other end of course. I'm sure whoever wins it will be a great day.

A few of my friends were at the game yesterday, one of them got hit by a coin and has a bit of a gash on his head. I think it's disgraceful that Luton fans behaved in this way, they should be fined, docked points or kicked out the league. Nothing justifies forcing the opposing team to hide amongst their own fans and run out with jackets over their heads when they should be celebrating. Apparently there were some EDL chants going around as well which just make things worse. Glad I didn't go now, I don't want to see scenes like that at a football game.

  14. Picked it up. Loved the demo and love a good world cup experience. It plays far better than FIFA 10. The player movement off the ball is sorted. Crossing the ball/the flight of the ball is now spot on and the keepers close the angle rather than rush off their lines.

I love the broadcast elements too (which can be turned off if you wish). Overall it's possibly the best worldcup game I've played in years. :-)

Been playing the world cup mode today and a score update from the other group game came up to say how that would affect the group. I then had to win so changed the formation etc and went for it (only to succumb to a counter attack). Wasn't bothered though as it made it all the more realistic.

Great how the golden boot/player of the tournament is in there too. It's all integrated really well with real pictures of your team in a web-page layout. EA have gone the extra mile with this and it's about time. Still loving it and yet to find any consistant gameplay sweet spots.

As soon as I can find it cheap, I will buy. Sounds great, thanks.

  15. I think out of the three, Nick Clegg has the best policies;

His policy for illegal immigration (a much bigger socio-economic problem than legal immigration) is sensible as it will disrupt well established networks by offering amnesty to some who can work in co-operation with the police to weed out the real offenders and end mass illegal immigration. Labour and Conservatives offer nothing on illegal immigrants because they simply don't know how to find them. Cameron proved he had no idea when he wouldn't answer yes or no to "does the Tory's plans for a budget cap matter when 80% of all immigration is from the EU, which is uncappable." Much to my sheeeer ANGER he refused (again) to answer a simple question. Lib Dems also want to regionalise immigration to stop large groups of immigrants going to one place, and to help direct the flow of jobs where immigrant labour is needed.

On trident, they don't support (what I see as wasting) spending £100m on restoring cold-war Nuclear deterrents, instead wanting to find better, cheaper and more modern alternatives.

They are by far the most 'green' of the big three and are much more committed to reducing carbon emissions and creating a sustainable Britain (as a geography student, I am concerned about climate change :P ) They support (non-nuclear) renewable energy and will invest in this area heavily and are willing to help Britain's poorest fight against rising 'fuel poverty' by subsiding home efficiency schemes.

They want to re-organise the tax system (god bless 'Cable so able' and his PhD in economics ) to create a much fairer system where no-one will pay tax on the first £10,000 of their income and to counter this they will shift the majority of this burden to the very rich and close offshore tax loopholes (about bloody time!). I think they said anyone earning under £50,000 would be better off under the Lib Dems which is probably a good 3/4 of the population...

Following on from this they want to abolish council tax and create a local income tax which will judge how much you pay based on your household income, again this shifts the heavier burden to the rich, but the tax cuts in other areas should mean that people earning under £50k still pay less overall.

They will also scrap heath targets, giving local people more control over health boards. The sack you MP scheme, where if they prove themselves to be corrupt, lazy or utterly useless you can give them the boot. They want to (slowly) scrap tuition fees, starting by removing them for final year students. They also want to cut class sizes and get more one-to-one time with students and teachers.

So while all of this (to me at least) seems good, they, just like the other two parties. Are pussy footing around spending cuts. It's no secret that public services would likely suffer under any government but in this sense, I think Labour are the most committed to this sector. I've read numerous reports saying Clegg will cut deeper than Thatcher which I'm extremely wary of.

Just like the other three they are big proponents of the free-market economy, something which I feel is really starting to have a detrimental effect on society. They support integration in Europe (which is a haven of neo-liberal, free-market individuals) even though they protest they will 'shake it up' and change it for the better, I'm still very sceptical. Especially after the mess Greece has ended up in, that country is going to be hit very, very hard by economic reforms in the next 12 months and don't be surprised if all hell breaks loose.

The crux of it though comes down to personal choice, on the one hand, they have the power to shake things up a bit, a hung-parliament would hopefully result in reform leading to proportional representation (fairer) style of democracy in the UK and put and end to this nonsense of "vote x to keep y out." I would definitely rather have Vince Cable PhD in Economics in charge of.. *ahem* The ECONOMY as opposed to Darling, who hasn't got a clue or that Grade A Cuntbag George Osbourne.

In the end though it all comes down to personal choice. My opinion is Lib Dems won't do enough to tackle the problems that got the country in such a mess, the whole neo-liberal economic system and with this regard, they are just another 4 more years of "the same, but slightly different." which is why I'm saying screw you all, I'm voting Green. Even if it is a waste.

  16. Anyone got this or played the demo yet?

And one more thing for anyone who's got it... "whoa oh oh oh woa, whoaoaoao oh oh oh oh". That's going to be stuck in my head all afternoon.

Haha, YES! That song drove me in.sane.

Quite like the game though, the demo plays like FIFA but it feels a bit more arcadey. They've definitely tweaked little things but exactly what I couldn't tell you... Didn't put much time into it.

I love the fact that there is pretty much every national team on the game, that there are about 50 stadiums and the beautiful, beautiful road to the world cup mode is back. I was in love with FIFA '98. The prospect of taking Eastern European minnows to world cup glory excites me in ways it shouldn't.

There's also a scenario mode which will be updated with new challenges (free DLC) during and after the world cup proper. There are classic scenario's and classic teams. All in all it looks like a decent package, and I'll probably pick it up, for a decent price.

  17. How is there another weekend of no F1 coming up? I am not happy about this! I thought for sure it was time for some F1.

Anyone planning on going to any of the races this year? I've been looking into it and should be going to the final race in Dubai so long as I can get a ticket for the race. Also hoping to do Korea if the track is sorted out in time.

I am poor and have no money :P

I'm glad of the break to be honest. My dissertation is in the day before Barcelona weekend kicks off so now I'm cracking on with work and ignoring checking websites for news.

  18. I am regretting putting £20 on Mass for the driver's title. Stupid decision. Alonso is in another league, when Rob Smedley had to tell him what line to take in Australia I knew it was over. Weird because he seemed so good in 2008, maybe the crash had quite a big impact on him.
