  1. To be fair most of the group on Facebook is filled with trollers and it's one hell of a LOL reading some of the stuff they come out with, I honestly believe it was set up and joined by people taking the piss. I think the ACTUAL number of 'people' that supported him are less than 1% of the number of people in the group, most people probably joined it for a laugh or to take the piss, which is not good, no, but it's certainly not as bad as supporting the deranged so-and-so. Also, ReZ, LOL.

  2. Karma is a bitch Sebastian... I really hope Webber wins the Driver's Championship now.

Really enjoyed today's Race, new Silverstone was a success!! Great performance by Rubens and Kobayashi, Button drove a great race and strategy. Kudos to Hamilton for pegging Webber for most of the race and good to see Roseberg back on the podium. Felt sorry for Alonso today, the penalty was too harsh, especially considering the safety car came out.

  3. The idiocy spouted by some on these forums is so funny. To even contemplate communism as a workable alternative is laughable, but very dangerous.

Of course it is workable, but requires a global context which will never be achieved in our lifetimes. When it is up against a system which promises more, even if most can never achieve it then people will always want what they cant have. We live in a material world, where everything is given a value and until this system is overhauled communism is impossible to achieve. Until we put the value in people and society over money and 'stuff' we will be stuck in this state until we all kill each other.

  4. How the hell can you make that happen?!??

It's almost impossible but there's a clever way to do it on Mario Circuit 2 in the mushroom cup. It's all about learning the line the CPU takes on the track.

Yes, when I was a child I had far too much time on my hands... I still love this game though, it's great. I'm stuck in 150cc, much harder than I remember.

  5. Communism in most forms led to pre assigned jobs, and no elections. Communism was not a benefit to our world. Neither is the American capatlist approach. I truly believe neither works

Communism has never been embraced or experienced by this world, as many of us have already stated, only twisted forms of it usually achieved by military coups.

  6. I would say it's the reverse - since joining the EU the fuckers have been swimming in money. Places like Lithuania actually rank higher than the UK when it comes to standard of living for some ridiculous reason!

Wrong. A few people got richer. The majority got a hell of a lot poorer and most fled to the UK / France / Spain etc. My girlfriend is from Latvia and the country is a mess. There are literally NO jobs in the Baltic region and the region is still hella poor. All that joining the EU did was free up access to the Eastern European markets for Western Europe and it has done very little for the average person.

I did my dissertation on the Soviet collapse and the general consensus among my tutors and the reading material that shaped my final piece was that communism > capitalism. But because of Stalin's brutality and general idiocy he destroyed it from the outset to the point that it could never, ever be what it wanted to be or even professed to be. It was nothing close to communism, however the ideas implemented by both Khrushchev and Gorbachev respectively were admirable in what they attempted to achieve. Ironically by allowing greater freedom in the USSR, it was in fact these two, Gorbachev in particular, which eventually brought it crashing to the ground because once the Soviet's learned what had happened in the past they decided that this system was wrong for them (i.e. crushing of freedom in the past, Stalin's brutality). Couple that with some corrupt high ranking government officials who knew they could get very, very rich by tearing down communism putting the pressure on to end it and the results are written in history.

If you go to Russia today, very little has changed. People are a hell of a lot poorer and the FSB are essentially the new KGB. The was of life has changed very, very little, it is still one of the most 'un-free' countries in the Western world. All that's changed is a few oligarchs have made a killing in the tele-communications, oil and finance industries and instead of living expenses being 2.5% of the average income, they are above 50% and instead of a job being a RIGHT, unemployment is around 10% (13 million).

    Capitalism roooolez.

I'm assuming you're referring to Stalin's Russia there? Don't tar an entire movement with the acts of a paranoid Dictator. Stalin did what he did because he believed it to be the only way to keep Russia strong enough to see off any direct attack by the US. He was probably right.

Ninja edit = correct. It is truly ASTOUNDING how Stalin transformed Russia from an agricultural mess, sparsely populated with peasants into a global superpower in just 20 years.

Final point on this: The USSR could never ever prosper or achieve what it set out to achieve because of the truly MASSIVE amount it had to spend on the arms race with the US, because the US was paranoid that communism would take over the world and un-seat them as the global leaders. Check out the videos on Youtube for the 'bay of pigs' to get an understanding of the paranoia and stupidity of the US at this time. Also the Afghanistan war 1970-79... The USSR tried to support a communist uprising, the US gave weapons, arms and funding to the people trying to stop it... The Taliban ;) Oh history, you are so cruel.

  7. Now that this is out and everyone has downloaded it and not using it on homebrew I thought I would set this amusing challenge, which is as follows...

Win a GP on 50 or 100cc where EVERY character scores at least 1 point over the course of the five races in your chosen cup.

A lot harder than you might think. Strictly f0r t3h 4@rdc000000rzz!!11one1

  8. I don't own an Xbox and have never played COD, it just doesn't interest me, but this smacks of arrogance and exemplifies why I despise Activision...

Activision has said that 60% of Xbox Live subscriptions are due to the Call Of Duty franchise.

CEO Bobby Kotick used the figure to explain how it is unfair that third-party publishers don't gain anything financially from the fee.

"We've heard that 60% of [Microsoft’s] subscribers are principally on Live because of Call Of Duty," he told the Financial Times.

"We don’t really participate financially in that income stream. We would really like to be able to provide much more value to those millions of players playing on Live, but it’s not our network."

Kotick said that a solution would be the PCs plugged into televisions, as opposed to the "walled gardens" of consoles, which the publisher would "aggressively" support.

"We have always been platform agnostic. [Consoles] do a very good job of supporting the gamer. If we are going to broaden our audiences, we are going to need to have other devices."

Last month, the publisher expressed interest in a subscription model for Call Of Duty.

Next they'll be complaining that they aren't making any money from Guitar Hero, oh wait...

  9. Here's Jock Clear ripping me to pieces at the FOTA Fan Forum...

EDIT - I want to defend my question. What I was getting at was the fact that as the sport has developed we have seen the introduction of many things to aid the drivers... radio technology, telemetry, semi-automatic gears, carbon brake discs, traction control... the list is endless. In 'the good old days' the drivers had to work a hell of a lot harder to achieve the desired results. Messrs Mansell, Senna, Stewart and Prost, hell even Fangio and Moss had only a fraction of the driver aids today's crop have. So my argument centred around less room for error leading to the fact that the sport is PERCEIVED as boring. Jock basically told me I was talking out of my arse, while I respect what he says and believe he is right in some degree the drivers that win championships are the best, I can't help but feel he kind of missed my point a bit.

It was a really, really good day! Lasted 2 whole hours and we got through lots of questions. I was really pleased with the responses everyone gave, a lot of variation and they all had an open mind as to the direction the sport should take. Check out the other videos, they offer some really good insight into the varying opinions of those that matter in F1.

  10. I was surprised today, this was a fantastic race! My heart was in my mouth when Webber crashed, but I was so happy when he threw the steering wheel out and was obviously ok.

Great race, tense throughout, and Koba was amazing at the end. I'm really thoroughly enjoying this season.

I am so disappointed at the complete idiots on the Autosport forums, some of the comments over there are disgusting, regarding Hamilton/Alonso and Charlie Whiting. Funny how gamers don't descend into mindless xenophobic bollocks but 'grown adults' on a motor racing forum do... much love to N.E.

EDIT: The 9 drivers under investigation for pit-lane speeding have been awarded 5-second penalties, which means the final result is as follows...

    1. Vettel

    2. Hamilton

    3. Button

    4. Barichello

    5. Kubica

    6. Sutil

    7. Kobayashi

    8. Alonso

    9. Buemi

    10. Rosberg

Alonso moves ahead of Buemi and Rosberg jumps De La Rosa for the final points position.

  11. I never mentioned in my previous post but on Thursday I'm going to the FOTA fans forum in London! :D I can't wait, won my place on James Allen's website.

It's a 90-minute Question Time style set-up which includes Martin Whitmarsh (McLaren Boss), Tony Fernandes (Lotus Boss), Jock Clear (Mercedes race engineer), Luca Colajanni (Ferrari press officer) and Paul Di Resta (Force India reserve driver).

The question I got selected on is Has the modern advancements in technology taken an element of driver skill away from the sport, or has Formula one always been technologically driven, with driver skill taking a back seat to modern advancements? Well, that wasn't the exact wording, but it was along those lines!

I hope enough people at the forum voice their negative views on adjustable rear wings, the last thing I want to see next year is easy overtaking for the overtaking's sake. I think the removal of the DDD and wing regulations should be given a chance first, especially with KERS coming back. I think ARWs will make it impossible for drivers to defend a position and could damage the competitive nature of the sport, but I guess time will tell.

  12. Jenson Button?

And tbh Retro, Mark has always been stupidly quick. I remember at Minardi when he got a 5th place for Minardi in his first race! He's been unfortunate and always ended up at the wrong team. In 2005 he went to Williams who were poor for a couple seasons and he was also at Jaguar at one point (who were a joke), when he instead had an offer at Renault but chose Williams instead. His career would have been far different apart from this. He did wonders with that Williams car too, and the jag too.

I agree, I've always rated Webber, I think he's very quick and is probably faster than Vettel overall. He is a bit inconsistent (Australian GP), but in general I think he's found the car in which he can showcase his talents. He's certainly not at the level of Hamilton or Alonso, however I think he can mix it with the best and if he won the title this year, he'd be deserving of it - For me his drive at Nurburgring last year, and Monaco this year really showcased his raw speed and talent, which lead me to this conclusion.

  13. Good qualifying session. Bit disappointing from Kubica and Button though.

If Sebastian Vettel pointed that finger near me, I'd snap it off. Does he realise how much of a prick he looks like when he does that, I hope his car fails tomorrow and shuts him up, or even better, Webber beats him into turn 1 fair and square to win the race...

I complained about Legard to the BBC today, he made FAR too many mistakes in qualifying, he's a dreadful commentator.

...back to the slippers and pipe. :)

  14. No problem! Like I said VGP sent mine Friday by DHL and it came Monday! Superb service from DHL there! :)

I'm still waiting from Play Asia. Will probably be here next week, and I go on holiday for 2 weeks next weds >.< Enjoy it though, I am truly envious.

  15. GetAttachmentaspx.jpg

I have NEVER illegally downloaded games...i've paid for all my games thankyou.

How did you get it so quick? I have a US Wii and I'm still waiting...

EDIT: Sorry for being an assuming prick :)

  16. Hmm... yes and no.

Yes Malaysia and Turkey are great tracks.

But I don't see how the location of the other tracks (other than Valencia which is of course restricted), has a baring on the design of the circuit, and the fact they have been poorl designed for overtaking.

It doesn't always have to be about attractive scenery, and level changes, so long as the races are exciting... and a number of key track design principles seem to always be missing from Tilke's tracks of late.

He could have done literally ANYTHING to showcase F1 in Abu Dhabi... they certainly had the budget and space... he could have even created artificial levels or bankings... but ultimately we got another floored race track!

I agree entirely with what you're saying, but I do think it's harsh to lay the blame squarely on him. Yes, it's easy to be critical of 'Tilke-dromes' (love that word) but, I do think there are a lot of other factors that play a decisive role in the overall crap-ness of the tracks.

Personally for me the biggest offence was on Hockenhem. That was an amazing track (arguably the best), unique and full of character, and they completely destroyed it making it a dull, generic, mess.
