  1. We are Leeds. :bouncy:

    /Thread.

I went to watch them play Accrington two weeks ago in the JPT and even though they won 2-0 they were absolutely abysmal and Accrington fully deserved to win... Today though, I think that was the best Leeds performance in the last 5 years! We were the better team and our guys played thier hearts out. We fully deserved the win and were unlucky to not be further ahead. I can't wait for the next game at Spurs.

  2. I was in a cottage in a very snowy Inverness with my mum, dad, 2 younger brothers, my best friends and their families. We spent a week playing Mario Golf 64, Jet Force Gemini and going sledging. £100 worth of fireworks for the millenium and about 300 sheep for company. One of the best holidays I ever had, it was amazing.

  3. Next season is shaping up to be great. Even though I am saddened by the loss of Kimi, Schumacher's return makes up for it... slightly. :p

I think it has the potential to be the most competitive season in recent memory and there are 4 or 5 teams / 10 driverscthat could possibly walk away with the titles this year, which is great!!

Here's how I see the driver line-up shaping up this season... bold are confirmed.

    McLaren–Mercedes

    1. Jenson Button

    2. Lewis Hamilton

I think Jenson, sadly, is going to get trounced by Lewis this year. If McLaren's car is as good as it was at the end of '09, Lewis has a great chance to win the championship this year. They need to get off to a strong start and build from a better base than last years mess.

    Mercedes

    3. Michael Schumacher - As good as confirmed

    4. Nico Rosberg

One lesson I have learned as an F1 fan is never rule out Ross Brawn, last year proved that in many ways, now that he's back with his old pal I expect much of the same. I do however expect Rosberg to give 41-year-old Schumi a run for his money and a years worth of experience with someone as experienced and succesful and Michael will have an immense effect on Rosberg, who I believe is a future WDC

    Red Bull–Renault

    5. Sebastian Vettel

    6. Mark Webber

With little change to the aero-regs this year I can see Red Bull probably lying a bit behind Maccas, Mercs and Ferrari's, but it's up to them to prove last year wasn't a fluke and if Vettel is on form again, there's no reason why they cant go one step further and win either championship. They should have got a better (more reliable) engine contract though because that really hampered them last year and if reliability is an issue again, this season will be another missed oppertunity. Webber has to perform like he did in Germany this year - if Red Bull push for the title and he isn't strong he could be replaced for 2011.

    Ferrari

    7. Felipe Massa

    8. Fernando Alonso

On paper, I think Ferrari have the strongest driver line-up. They've offloaded unneccesary 'consultants' and should just concentrate on giving the two fastest drivers on the grid, the fastest car. If they do this, then I expect and incredible battle between Massa and Alonso for the championship. I'm also kind of hoping this is the case - I'm not particularly a Ferrari fan, I just think this is quite possibly the most fiery driver line-up of the past 10 years, both are heated competitors and seeing it explode in the last few races would make amazing viewing. I'm sure they will push each other beyond their limits if the WDC is at stake. I would really like to see Massa take the title this year, he outperfomed Kimi for the last 2 years and was desperatly unlucky in 2008. He is WDC material and it would be a shame if he didn't clinch one

    Williams–Cosworth

    9. Rubens Barrichello

    10. Nico Hulkenberg

After Rosberg's consistently good perfromances last year I'm expecting big things from Williams this year. I expect Barrichello will push and Hulkenburg will try to outdo his experienced team mate. The battle between them should be interesting and if the car is quick they should certainly be the 'best of the rest'

    Renault

    11. Robert Kubica

    12. Vitaly Petrov

I'm expecting Petrov to take the second seat because of his apparent connections with the new owners (Genii Capital or something....). I was really disappointed that Prodrive and Dave Richards didn't take over the 75% stake because they are a real racing team, interested in racing. Not like this profit driven corporation that has taken over. I feel sorry for Kubica and hopfully the surviving members of the Renualt team will have the passion to develop a good car and put to rest the unpleasent memories of the recent past, otherwise this could be another season to forget for Kubica.

    Force India–Mercedes

    14. Adrian Sutil

    15. Vitantonio Liuzzi

Force India have proved themsleves as serious points contenders in the past year and I hope Mallya and the rest of the team continue forward and set higher targets for this season. They have a operation capable of moving forward in a big way and two very competant (if a little inconsistant) drivers. I'm predicting a good haul of points, constrcuters finish of 7/8 and maybe a podium if they're lucky.

    STR–Ferrari

    16. Sebastien Buemi

    17. Jaime Alguersuari - As good as confirmed

Last season was quiet on the Toro Rosso front compared to 2008 and I'm expecting the same this year. Vettel was the exception in their maiden GP victory in 2008 and while Buemi is certainly one to watch he is still lacking in confidence to pull of anything close to what Vettel achieved with the team. Hopefully the development of the car will be more parallel to Red Bull as opposed to a few races behind because it would be intertesting to see the two young guys pushing for points. I hope Alguesuari gets the seat because he seems like a genuine chap and isn't a slow as some of the other young guys (Like Grosjean), I think he just did enough last year to win the seat.

    Lotus–Cosworth

    18. Jarno Trulli

    19. Heikki Kovalainen

Lotus are going to make an impact next season, in my opinion. They have chosen two experienced and talented drivers (if not 100% consistent). I do think the driver line-up compliments their ambitions and they seem to be the furthest along in development so hopefully they will be able to prove that come Bahrain and establish themseleves as the top of the new teams. With Mike Gascoyne on board, I can see this happening

    Campos Dallara–Cosworth

    20. ?

    21. Bruno Senna

All has been a little quite on the Campos front, I'm not entirely sure what to expect from them. I believe they wanted one experienced driver and one younger one so judging by their decision to hire Senna, they will likely try to acquire and experienced driver who has raced in F1, probably Pedro De La Rosa (as he is also spanish and brings in sponsership). I think this would be their wisest move as he isn't a bad driver, is very experienced and has raced for McLaren afetr Montoya left. Senna is one to watch for the future and I expect him to punch above the car's weight on a couple of occasions.

    US F1–Cosworth

    22. Alex Wurz ?

    23. ?

A lot of talk on Autosport and from Bernie suggests that USF1 won't even make the grid. I don't want to be pessimist and I think they will be there. Apparently development is coming along well and they are currently molding the chassis to accomadate the Cosworth engine. On the driver front I am expecting Alex Wurz to sign up as many rumblings have pointed in this direction. Also rumours suggest they want an American driver or 'one with American experience.' Hopefully this suggests good old Jacques Villeneuve could join as he has been in talks with teams... 5 WDCs in one season would be a tasty prospect!! I wouldn't rule out Bourdais for this role or other 'high-profile' Indy car racers. I do however expect USF1 to be bringing up ther rear next year, but I do hope they see the entire season out.

    Virgin–Cosworth

    24. Timo Glock

    25. Lucas Di Grassi

I don't really know what to make of Virgin, they seem to mean business and I certainly expect them to fare better than Campos and USF1, but I am unsure as to whether or not their technological approach to design will be succesful. Using a computer to design a race car without using a wind-tunnel (Branson has a point, it's expensive, very expensive) is thus far unproven and I really hope that Virgin prove that it's NOT neccesary but I'm not holding my breath. Timo is a good driver, deserves a seat in F1 and I hope this move doesn't wreck his career. As for a team-mate, he is a proven force in GP2 and I hope he makes the transistion to F1 in a similar vain that his team-mate did.

    Sauber–Ferrari

    26. Nick Heidfeld - 99% Likely IMO.

    27. Kamui Kobayashi

I am so pleased to see Sauber back on the grid! Now that Schumi's gone to Merc I'm certain they'll snap up Heidfeld and I desperaty hope he can pick up a race win just to prove the doubters wrong. He is fast, he is VERY consistent and I feel as though had Jesus' second coming not occured he would have been more than worthy of the Merc seat. As for his team-mate, well who ISN'T a fan of Kamikaze-Kobayashi?! I'm so pleased he secured a seat and he rounds of what is a very exciting looking grid for 2010.

  4. @ those guys using a HDD...

What make and model are you using. I bought a 500gb Seagate one and it wouldn't format in WBFS. There's a couple of cheap WD Passport ones and I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they're Wii compatible?? Don't wanna waste my money, see?

  5. My one complaint about FIFA '10 is that the ball often gets lost in the middle of the field and it's very difficult to attack or build up play on the wings, leading to many goals being scored in a 1-on-1 situation. But, the mechanics behind FIFA are constantly improving whereas PES has become a bit more stagnant in recent years. I do however appreciate that PES still plays a quality game of football and set-pieces and wing play on PES still wipes the floor with FIFA. The gameplay is certainly more 'arcadey' on PES and it's always more fun in multiplayer. But there are areas in which FIFA is innovating that PES could look to.

It's just immensely frustrating as a football fan to have PES, the 'heart and soul' of football games to have a severely hampered license and, recently, a lack of innovation, maybe even in some respects, a real lack of passion, which there always was in a PES game during the PS2 era. Alternatively, FIFA has got the money, the presentation, the graphics, the licenses and in contrast to recent years, the real motivation for innovation and passion for re-creating the game of football. It seems to me though that Canadian based EA just don't understand the real beauty of football, and this is why FIFA doesn't quite drum up the same emotion, passion and fun that a PES game can.

It's obvious when playing PES that the developers have/had a passion for the sport but have neither the funds (license), skills or the technological know-how to really re-create the game the way that they potentially could. And while the developers at EA are incredibly talented, artistically and technologically they can't programme the game to run like a real game of football and instead end up with similar yearly problems and complaints, despite also listening to the fans and desperately striving towards innovation. The fact that the same age old problems with FIFA, (ping pong in the middle of the park) despite building an excellent new engine for the next-gen consoles, just shows that they don't understand the game enough to make it recreate it in the way Konami can. At least having 2 games the developers can push each other to make a better game, although Konami don't seem to be taking much notice, which is the biggest shame.

  6. Hmmm - maybe my TV ain't accepting widescreen mode. Maybe it's forced?

I'm not sure but it's definitely widescreen on mine. Small, inch-wide borders are present on each side, so it's not "true" widescreen, but it's also not stretched from 4:3.

I must admit after playing FIFA 2010 (on Xbox 360) for the past 4-5 weeks it's amazing how much of a step backwards this feels. As some of you may know FIFA '10 features '360 dribbling' which means the players aren't locked to 8-direction movement. I can't believe how much of a difference this makes to the free flowing nature of the game. I know many people on here are Wii only owners and it may be a fairly irrelevant point but it's a massive step forward in the gameplay of football games, one that it's difficult to adjust back from. As good as the Wii controls may be, I think this year's edition of FIFA is the best football game ever made.

Don't think I'm hating on the game though, PES 2010 still plays a solid game of football; with classic controllers it's still the classic PS2-era PES every football fan knows and loves. Only, on the Wii, there is of course Champions Road mode as well as an excellent, deep and comprehensive training mode and of course the option of the Wii-exclusive controls.

Unfortunately, it's just the same old story: Updated squads, a few new additions and exactly the same gameplay as 2008/9. When FIFA is drastically improving every year (okay, so maybe not on the Wii) and PES' next gen big brother going backwards year after year, it's hard to fall in love with PES 2010.

  7. I agree with pretty much everything Tapedeck says. Not a huge improvement on 2009.

There are a few new teams though, especially in International mode, which is very welcome. Plays exactly the same as '09 with a more fleshed out menu system and a 'team points' thing I don't really understand... Don't think it's really worth the update though.

The game does run in widescreen though, even if the graphics are abysmal.

  8. Well. It's out today, and I've been very surprised to see there's not a single review anywhere. Did anyone here get it? Is it much different to last years? Let us know.

    Please! :D

I'll post thoughts later tonight when I've had a bash on it. Won't be using Wii controls though, classic for me... ;)

  9. Gpupdate.net are reporting Kimi will NOT be going to Brawn in 2010 :weep:

    Räikkönen: No talks with Brawn

Kimi Räikkönen has said that he will only be returning to Formula One should a competitive car be at his disposal in 2011. With McLaren negotiations having failed and seemingly no negotiations taking place with Brawn GP, the Finn will now take at least one year off from Formula One after joining the field with Sauber in 2001.

With Fernando Alonso joining Ferrari due to Räikkönen agreeing to terminate his contract a year early, the Finn admits that McLaren was the only real option.

"I felt that McLaren offered the best opportunity to win races and challenge for the Drivers' Championship and if that would not work the one-year break is the result," he explained to the official F1 website after confirming his sabbatical, "and to be honest, I will only return in 2011 if a competitive drive is available."

Considering the option of rallying for next year and with the possibility that a competitive car may not be on offer to him for 2011, does Kimi feel that he will drive in an F1 race again?

"As I said, I will only return in 2011 if I can drive a competitive car," the 2007 Champion reiterated. "I do not want to race just to make up the numbers, that doesn't interest me, but there's a lot of time until then so let's wait and see what happens in the months ahead."

Räikkönen added that 'certain issues could not be resolved' with McLaren but did not explain whether or not this referred to financial arrangements. The Espoo man also feels that, contrary to the feelings of Manager Steve Robertson, a place at the Mercedes (née Brawn) team is no alternative. "I have not held talks with Brawn," he revealed. "I feel they will run two German drivers next year, now that Mercedes are involved."

  10. IGN UK Review - 7.4

    http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/104/1046039p1.html

Seems a very generous score considering the many negatives, however they say they've nailed the racing aspect!

I guess at the end of the day that's what's important. I'm gonna keep an eye on this now.

Delicious handling and a palpable sense of speed combine to make a game that's unique on the Wii, and while there's a feeling of an opportunity missed with the licence, for fans of the sport deprived of an F1 game for so many years this does just enough to satiate the thirst.

Sounds alright to me. I still play F1 WGP on N64 and that have a similar graphical style ;)

  11. Oh well at least I got CODMW2OPS3FFTW*.

*Guess the acronym, "winner" gets an exclusive original ReZourceman joke posted to their profile, to do with what they see fit. As long as it doesn't breach my personal copy right.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on Playstation 3 ? for the win.

One assumes it could be.. the above for the f-ing win, with a typo? ;)

  12. I would be interested in this but I have literally no money either at the moment. Also: your price is a little high in my opinion. On Amazon at the moment you can get an Elite, wireless entertainment pack (incl a wireless pad and two poor games) plus one other game (inc. fifa, forza etc) for £200. So although its a really good deal for those looking for just an Elite for less than £190, if you want games too it would be better going to amazon.

Anyway, that's just my opinion :) as I say I'd be interested if I had any money but I just really don't :(

I'm bundling mine with an official HDMI cable and official Audio adapter (worth about £15-£20), that's why the price is a bit higher. New elites only come with the composite out now, not even a component cable...

It's essentially an new console and has a warranty and everything that's why it's priced the way it is. Obviously I've offered a decent price on the whole package which includes that ridiculous wireless adapter. I'm in no rush to sell and will certainly listen to sensible offers.
