  1. If anything, actually doing work once a week will snap people out of 'lax' mode that can settle in, when you don't do any work for a long period of time. That, and the work would be fairly crap and underpaid so that they'd want to find a real job.
  2. Maybe people aren't sat in one place all the time (ie. non sad bastards)...or maybe people like having all their music organised into one compact device? And maybe, just maybe...people prefer to use headphones or earphones...because the sound quality is great.
  3. That's an insanely ridiculous type of MP3 player. Can you imagine selling that to Dragon's Den?
  4. Yeah. It really is. People seem to be echoing the sentiment 'sometimes you need a treat; being jobless can be harrowing'. They're completely missing the point that, whether they'd like a treat or not, it shouldn't be up to other unrelated members of society to provide them with this treat. People used to be far more hard-working when there wasn't such a lax safety net, and more importantly; they survived. I think JSA should work in two ways...either it can be accepted in the form of credit towards bills, food, clothing, etc., or a system where money is paid on the condition that some work is actually done. Like danny said - a day's community work would be great. Then everyone would be happy, and there'd be far greater motivation for some members of society (a fair chunk, but not all) to actually try get a job.
  5. Actually, this whole notion of 'I will pay tax so I can use taxpayer money to spend on iPods' is bollocks. Really; absolute bollocks. By the same merit, MPs are free to claim huge expenses; taxpayer money, because they pay tax, right? Wrong. Tax you will pay will cover lots of things... education for your kids (should you choose to have them), your safety and healthcare to name a few. Ergo, people shouldn't be expecting other things like iPods on the side, too. Well that's simple...the JSA isn't a charity case. If you're actually suffering from clinical depression then there's no problem with claiming such benefits, as with anyone who is actually disadvantaged/disabled in some way. At the end of the day, though, the JSA is really there to see you through and I think danny made an excellent point with the possibility of a day's community service each week to pay the wage.
  6. Well, no...that's a loan. You'll be paying that back, and then some. :p
  7. 1. Can't say I ever have. 2. Whatever the students take out, they pay back. It's a loan. JSA isn't. It's bleeding obvious that free money from the taxpayer shouldn't be spent on leisurely purchases. JSA is a privilege and hasn't existed for all that long...it is by no means a right. When people start getting comfortable and are able to buy things that they would with job money, see how quickly motivation to find a job can wane. Yes, a lot of people aren't happy just not working and on JSA, yet a lot in this country are (think scrounger chavs). JSA should really be there to just allow people to continue their living while they look for a job.
  8. Exactly...survive. We all survived before iPods were made.
  9. lol - that is actually disgusting. There should surely be systems in place to stop JSA being spent on non-essentials or things unrelated to helping you get a job.
  10. I honestly don't think this is anyone's fault. I think that men and women are more inclined to pursue different careers, just because of the differences in how and men naturally think and perceive the world. On the same note, there's far fewer male nurses, and probably fewer male hairdressers. Since there's more male politicians, there's an increased likeliness of the best candidate out of a pool of applicants being male (simply due to being more of them). To artificially slap people in places to tick boxes is just silliness. To be honest, we shouldn't care what the gender of the people in power is. The people in power are there to run the country...their status, including their gender, sexuality and religion should not matter in the slightest. If they do a good job, and have worked hard to acquire their job, irrelevant factors should have no importance.

    PSP Go

You're not even able to understand the point that was being made. Follow the conversation or just don't bother. Here was the point being made - You can buy cheap games in shops, but you cannot ever get them this cheap for the PSP Go. This is because Sony set their prices for games online. Again, you're being a prize timewaster. Completely missed the point of that statement. The point about giving Sony more money is in regard to buying a different model PSP; where you could pick up preowned games for far cheaper, as well as a reasonably similar model for much cheaper, too. Seriously. Do you even read posts before replying to them? You just waste everyone's time.

    PSP Go

Go into any gamestation and you'll find most PSP games over a year and a half old being sold at £7.99. Easily proves what I've been getting at. Basically buy the PSP Go to give Sony more money, while costing yourself loads more.

    PSP Go

K I'll entertain you for a bit here. Even though it sounds like you have more money than sense... Never. Sony determine prices; no second hand trade-ins. You can pick up PS1 games for 99p these days...can you ever imagine Sony selling proper full games willingly for this these days? The only exception is super rare games; which won't even be that rare in disc form once you can download it anyway. Most good games on PSP aren't super rare anyway. Since good phones double up as MP3 players much better than this energy guzzling rich boy tosh, you'd be much wiser to buy either an MP3 player or a phone/MP3 player combo. Most phones accept similar memory sticks, anyhow. Whoever keeps using the DSi as a comparison is being silly... you can get the DS Lite (which is practically the SAME as the DSi apart from not having a shitty camera and the 'ability' to download some mini games; and the ability to play far better GBA games instead) for £80 new. Compare with that. Justify why you should buy this POS for a price that could buy 2.5 clones of an awesome handheld. I don't care if the add ons to the PSP Go are similar to the add ons added on the DSi. I just want to know why anyone should pay so much more for a PSP Go than a DS Lite.
  14. Yep, gamecube version is the worst simply because it freezes sometimes. And it will most likely happen a few times in one playthrough of the game. You might have 2-3 hours of play erased this way (or, if you're lucky, not much at all).
  15. This is something that benefits the company and not the consumer (said that before). It's all to easy to put it on the DS because it sells more...to be honest Square Enix are god damn rich and DQ is famous enough (esp. in Japan) to make a huge profit whatever system it's on. But for the consumer...it's much better to have what you could have plus more!
  16. It's different people who think different things. Some people see being single as something great, but some people don't. I'm one of the latter. Love is such a great thing, and it's terrible to only get it from your family (and a completely different kind of love, mind you)!
  17. The British spelling that cropped up in Nature articles was always diarrhoea...Americans always seem to go with diarrhea.
  18. Yeah, but those guys tend to be really stupid. Wait... :P
  19. I'll give you three guesses as to which member, if any, will get banned. P.S. You could probably guess it in 1.
  20. I find people using 'gay' as an insult not just offensive, but retarded.
  21. That game is made of win. Seriously jam packed with fun!
  22. I think I'd be like Kuja. I'd have the ability to mass obliterate a planet, but then die really quickly. Burn brightly, extinguish quickly. Aww yeah.
  23. lol, like he had any to begin with.
  24. That story creeped me out a bit, actually. You painted the picture quite well... I don't really have any creepy things that happened to me. Except when I was near my grandma's house one time and there were young boys (10 or so years old) carrying around real axes in order to 'cut wood' (yet were the biggest chavs you could ever imagine).
