Could Nintendo Survive Going 3rd Party?
Sheikah replied to Sheikah's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I'm sure Nintendo sells enough copies of most of its killer titles, of which there are many, that would far outsell many other third party titles and therefore be profitable enough to make. I'm also only suggesting they only drop their home console - something that has lost a lot of interest within the last 5 or so years. I mean, what 'profit' are they really reaping from the WiiU? Just wondering. -

What exactly is your point with Sega? If Sega remain profitable and people still follow their games after losing their console, surely that suggests Nintendo can do too. In fact they'd be in a much stronger position on account of having better software that can really sell copies. If Nintendo continue with a poorly selling console then can't you see how it would make sense to deliver their games to other platforms? -

I don't think it's short sighted at all. Sega went down a route of making 3D Sonic games that were pale imitations of what they did best, and had nowhere near the same sort of roster of games Nintendo has. So that's not really a good comparison; you're basically extrapolating one incident and trying to suggest that everything else would be doomed to fail if it did the same. Which really, just doesn't make sense. Nintendo hardware is woefully under-impressive compared to its competitors and long they have struggled with producing a console that can attract good third party software. Not only would putting their software onto multiple devices increase the number of potential customers, it'd mean I wouldn't have to buy hardware just to run a few games that I actually want. I'm talking about their home consoles here rather than handhelds. I actually don't mind if Persona went PS3/Xbox/PC multiformat. So long as it's not a Nintendo exclusive I'd be happy enough. Games like Dark Souls show that excellent presentation and online features can be maintained across these platforms. Assuming they made the next Persona game exactly as they intended regardless of which platform it went on, a WiiU version would be exactly the same as a PS4 version but more limited in how technically impressive they could make it. It's kinda like how I was really happy that Ni no Kuni went to the PS3 and not the Wii, even though I had both consoles. -

Then why split the vote on him? -

Glad you saw sense in the end in not splitting the vote. @Jonnas I'm pretty sure that's majority reached. Majority is already reached. -
I don't want Persona on a Nintendo console primarily because Nintendo hardware and online infrastructure is sub par. It doesn't do an awesome title justice. I would be quite happy if Nintendo became a software developer and handheld console manufacturer only. If they can't make a home console people want because it is technically unimpressive and has few good games, I'd be mighty pissed off at the thought of having to buy one just to play one awesome game. That is really bad for the consumer and really only good for Nintendo.

Gentlemen's Mafia III - The Court of Miracles

So you freely admit this is all basically conjecture, yet split the vote over it? Why do something so silly? If I wanted his lynch for nefarious reasons I would have voted for him yesterday, especially when it was clear his so called 'inevitable' lynch wasn't going to happen by the end of the day. I think your comment about most people knowing Diageo's role is ludicrous. He was going down, and no one stepped in to say - "hang on! This guy isn't a knife wielding maniac targeting the wrong kind of people, he's a protector!" If I wanted his lynch for Mafia reasons, why would I have done this? Why wouldn't I have left it be, or added my vote, when there were votes piling up? This guy is the queen. Peeps doesn't give a fuck who he votes for, he's neutral. But what you're doing is just silly, danny. -

Then I'll repeat it again tomorrow. I think you're forgetting quite a lot about what I've been doing in this game - I've roleblocked the Mafia before, and I pointed out that Diageo might have actually been protecting people rather than screwing with them before which seemed to stop an early lynch before we knew everything about him. If you're now saying that my goal is to get him lynched, why would I have done that before? I didn't even have my vote on him yesterday because I was more convinced of Eenuh. -

Then lie detect me and prove me right. Somebody ordered me to target Zell, and I'm guessing Diageo. If he's the queen then it would make bloody good sense that he can order people to do things. You can also detect me to prove I'm telling the truth when I say that I previously roleblocked ReZ, a confirmed Mafioso. -

If Diageo is the one who targeted me then he must be Mafia. Last night I wanted to target Eenuh again on account of last night's no kill, but I was ordered to target Zell by an assertive figure instead. I've been totally open all game and revealed my targets since the very early days. My role PM clearly states I am evil and win once the Queen's allies are eradicated. I don't mind if you lie detect me to confirm this, but I think there are better targets. Vote: Diageo -

I think I'll just build more projects if that's what the complaint is. Will see how it goes anyway...

I chopped a couple of trees but I still had loads. She complained about it being a bit barren but then I replanted and she no longer complained. They've since grown fully back. Plus she is only mentioning that I need more public works, and they've only been added to. And I haven't built any so rumoured 'bad' works.

I roleblocked Eenuh last night and there was no kill. Unless we can find out who else has roleblocked who, I'd say it's a pretty good lead. Just saw this and ca'maan...this is me! I thought it had been said quite a few times now that this is my method. -
So my insanely used launch phat PS3 had gotten to the point where the fan switched to the loudest setting for most of the time it was on, some googling indicated that it probably wouldn't be long before it would YLOD. So I used this series of video guides to disassemble the PS3 completely, clean it out, and most importantly add new thermal paste. What a difference, it's now pretty much silent again. It's actually really satisfying to take it apart and made me appreciate how well engineered it is. The thermal paste had gone bone dry and mostly disappeared though, definitely needed a redo.

I like the idea that I can stream a game's audio and video to the Vita, it makes gaming a lot more flexible. Other than that, I'm not really bothered.

Awesome, I love VX Ace. Was making a Mafia on it a while back, kinda put it on hold but really love using the program.

On the first Saturday you meet KK you don't get a choice on the first song he sings (which is the song you get a copy of). The next Saturday after that you can request at the very beginning and you get to keep the song.

Pretty clear cut then, pretty crap that you've been outed though. Wasn't there someone else who said they didn't have an invitation? Vote: Diageo -
Hmm, I'm not getting this, what's so bad about Yahoo? I've done quite a few searches in it so far and they're as accurate/producing as relevant results as when I use Google. This isn't another of those 'once was true' things about Yahoo, right? Like the people who still say you can't get mobile reception on Three (despite it having better coverage than most networks and the fastest 3G).
-
Oh well, I missed out on that 50p. :p Yeah the search limit is one verified search every 2 minutes (I think that means only searches at least 2 minutes apart count, rather than it takes 2 minutes to verify your searches). There's also a toolbar, but I bloody hate toolbars.
-
ha. Yeah, I have to say though it seems to be finding results just as good as google for me. Only downside is it can sometimes hang for a second before the search goes through.

I'm not sure if this will be of any interest, but I thought it was pretty cool. Basically there is a search engine called Search Lotto that uses Yahoo to search; the selling point is that for every 25 searches you are awarded one entry into either the National Lottery or the Euro millions (your choice). The limitations are that you share your ticket with 9 others (National Lottery) or 19 others (Euro millions) so if the jackpot was miraculously won you'd be looking at hundreds of thousands rather than millions. Also you're limited to a maximum of 2 entries into the lottery a week, and only the first 10 searches in a day count. I'd never enter the lottery normally given it'd be pissing money into the wind, but given it costs nothing and there's the very, very slim chance of winning big, why the hell not? Oh and I'm pretty sure this is UK only. It definitely seems legit; they appear to be making revenue through adverts on the search engine.
