  1. Pokemon sunbro or moonface. Which to pick?
  2. This game looks incredible. Like a cut above anything else we've seen so far this generation.
  3. This looks really cool. Might wait to see if it comes to Plus free but still looks like the kind of game I'd enjoy.
  4. After the success of the Wii it's not hard to imagine that people thought they would score again. Surely they would not think it would have crashed and burned like it did...else why back it? I don't think anyone could have realised how little the public would care about Nintendo's new gamepad. As well as that, did EA know how much they would sell it for (ie. a lot), or that Nintendo themselves would not support the gamepad properly? Points 1 and 3 are down to the spec of the console (cost too much because of the spec, and didn't appeal because of the spec itself - a gamepad), which is why I said the spec was a major reason for its failure. Again...who would buy the Wii U version and not instead buy it for a competitor console, with fleshed out online infrastructure and existing pools of friends? I'll bet some people...but not that many.
  5. If there was good money to be made porting titles over the Wii U then I believe EA would have done it. I don't believe that soured relations are the reason why EA stopped doing it. If relations were that soured then I don't see why they are on board now for NX. You have to look at the initial 300 quid cost of the console with last gen specs as a major reason (among others) why not many people picked up the console. It was...unexciting, and for the price, undesirable. The kinds of people who want to play EA games also often have a MS/Sony console anyway (and would probably prefer to buy it on those consoles for the online functionality; a spec of those consoles in itself), so I doubt there was much incentive for them to continue to bring their games to Wii U. Their initial run of ports that they did probably told them all they wanted to know.
  6. Cool, 10 PM UK time then.
  7. I think it makes a big difference. Companies like EA left Wii U development because of the kind of spec console it was (low power, online capabilities, expensive because of gamepad, the gamepad itself; and the effect these had on its image). If Nintendo have not met certain standards this time then it stands to reason that developers might be less enthusiastic about pitching a new idea to them. Nintendo should let them known more about their new consoles as an advertisement for themselves, if anything.
  8. I suppose. Looking at the 360 though, it's around £18-30 sale value on CEX now (model dependent) and even then backwards compatibility only works with so many games. Wouldn't surprise me if the Wii U was worth similar money by the point its successor had formidable BC. Don't get me wrong, I get it has utility but don't get the excitement some have for it. It's surely one of the best things to sacrifice if it means making a better console in other areas.
  9. Can't help but agree with this. Literally can't understand the fuss about Red Dead Redemption compatibility. On the off chance I wanted to replay if I would just boot up my PS3.
  10. Impressed by that price point. Not that it would be a viable thing for over 95% of us, financially, for a generation or so probably.
  11. So very sorry to hear this. Since reading this post about an hour ago I've just been sitting here in shock, so I can't even imagine what this must be like for you. You've always been a great person to have on these forums and I am genuinely very upset to hear this. To have it so together like you have right now is inspiring. Much love MadDog.
  12. Good times.
  13. Yeah, I get that. It's not for everyone, but I can easily understand it being high up the list. It's such a massive game that has taken the world by storm - it has crazy amounts of potential and appeals to young and old alike. I personally love it and think it makes for a great creative and social experience. A lot of other games on that list I would just play and enjoy, then shelve. Minecraft is a game I've always come back to.
  14. Minecraft should beat almost anything put out...it's just an incredible game that you only see once in a while. Its impact on the gaming world has been unbelievable.
  15. It's Nintendo's social media thing where you can post game pictures, doodles and comments, and can see what other pictures and comments other people post. Like its own Facebook but for games.
  16. Well done on putting this together, I think it's a really good idea. I realise this is a Nintendo forum but I thought it was cool when you referenced the popularity of the Destiny topic in terms of a broader discussion of Nintendo and this forum. Referencing the forum and its members (maybe even a little off-topic bants) as well as Nintendo is a surefire way of getting more people here to tune in every episode (ie. not just hardcore Nintendo fans). Well done!
  17. Eh man, can't tell with you when you're taking the biscuit or not. If that was genuine then don't worry about it, I wasn't really annoyed about it. I actually find this discussion quite interesting in terms of seeing who prefers which features.
  18. Must you be so incessantly melodramatic? I don't see any problem with people referencing someone else and relating their own opinions to it. Nobody is calling anyone else a dickhead.
  19. Since people said what features they want in the new update, which naturally leads to comparisons.
  20. Now now, I clearly addressed my comment towards notifications rather than the system OS at a whole. That said...what you said is really not far from the truth. I find it a little funny that you're trying to compare the features of two OS when you clearly didn't know the core features of the PS4 OS. Maybe do a little research before you throw out snarky comments like this?
  21. You can't get pop up notifications of people messaging/inviting you on Wii U so as far as I'm concerned it has no useful notification system. You literally can't matchmake, which is the main reason you even need notifications. We can't seriously be recommending the PS4 take a leaf out of Wii U's book regarding notifications? Regarding the activity log - I'm not sure I ever really checked this or found a need for it on the 3DS. I suppose you would call this information mildly interesting. The activity log is recapitulated within many games themselves anyway, either on save states or a stats page (ie. "total hours played").
  22. Like others say, rest mode. Literally the quickest way to get back into a game - you press the PS button, see the PS logo on the screen, then straight into the game/app.
  23. There is an activity log (in terms of who played what and when) but no friend login notifications (just joining party notifications). They had friend login notifications on PS3 but not on PS4...it's weird. I don't get the need for a home screen redesign though, nor have I heard many people crying out for a redesign. For the vast majority of people it's setup exactly how it is needed - for quick access to the last 4-5 games you played.
  24. They need to add a proper friend list system - I only care when certain people join a party (or come online). Favourite groups just don't really work. Folders is so far down the list of being useful to me - I only play a few games at a time so the current display works well for my uses.
