If you find it painful then why don't you put those people on your ignore list, or just skip past the posts? I don't know why you put so much effort into complaining about this all the time? You also complained about the PS4 a lot. No less than the particular NX complaints that have just surfaced.
-
A couple of points on this... You have gone into the PS4 topic saying on multiple occasions how bad things are about the system. And it doesn't get deleted. In fact, I can very much remember shortly after you bought your PS4 that you were complaining about the whole system suggesting it wasn't for you, and had no games, even after people suggested that perhaps you shouldn't buy it. I don't understand how you can be so consistently hypocritical and seemingly not be aware of it. You complain that people waste all this effort posting here... the thing is, you waste all this effort making these completely senseless complaints over and over again, instead of putting the people that are apparently boring you on your ignore list. At least when people post negatively about consoles they are making a point, and contributing to discussion, and it's usually on topic. This is just mindless complaining about people with opinions you don't like.

Am I missing something - how was what Rummy said dull? Or does "dull" have some hip new meaning that I am not aware of? Judging by the responses we saw, it was anything but dull.

Why wouldn't Sony be happy with them? They have sold god knows how many copies and made Sony a lot of money. All that from a small team with a very modest budget. The amount of people who will actually get a PSN refund is going to be a drop in the ocean. It's a massive commercial success.
-
Yeah because that's totally what Majora's Mask came across as. Not like the best Zelda game or anything. Reusing the engine/assets probably let them very easily carry over what worked while having a lot more time to work on the details and environments.

I'm not quite sure I agree that 'power' (polygons/processing) is the only factor to consider when judging the spec of the machine. When the Wii wasn't HD, didn't that factor into the mindset that is was old tech/last gen? It's the same thing here - 720p was the reserve of the 360 and PS3.

Nintendo's next device needs to be more than adequate right now though, given their need to sell the device into the 2020s. They could also really do with shaking off the annoying impression that they are always a generation behind. And really, a screen that is just on par with the 2011 Vita is not very impressive - they could do much better!
-
Why not instead tolerate other viewpoints instead of making posts like this? If people have a negative opinion about something Nintendo related, Iet them voice it. As far as I am aware, these particular hardware rumours have not come to light before so this is new discussion; so I don't particularly see this as dull. Regardless, neither you nor any other fan on here should be calling to suppress negative discussion surrounding Nintendo. Some people expect certain hardware from Nintendo and others don't. Saying you can't believe a particular discussion is taking place just makes you sound dismissive and rude. Just because you think some form of discussion is dull, it doesn't mean other people do. Or even that they should care if their comments entertain you or not.

Somewhat related - with the 7 inch Nexus 7 which had a 1080p screen I saw a very big difference over the old 2012 model which was just above 720p; even on that screen size. Remember that phones have been doing way above 720p/540p for over 5 years now so there's no excuse why they can't go considerably higher and still have a decent battery life.

Most likely the Scorpio will get some games/features that the previous one can't do (e.g. VR compatible) but that's not much different to the situation the DSi had going. Eventually the One support may be dropped but I doubt this would be before the One had a 'good run'. In other words I can see the traditional generation system being dropped similar to with iOS, where old model support is dropped after a reasonable period of time. Anyway - puhlease. Developers will he pissed off that they are developing console games for 2 models? You do realise developers make their games for PC, and must therefore function on a wide variety of hardware? Think about what you're saying man. Also, why does this matter in any way to us when assessing how great the refreshes are?
-
So your argument is that it's fine for Nintendo because Nintendo's mid-gen refresh was pretty crap by comparison. As soon as the competition makes a great mid-gen refresh it's a problem because you might actually want to buy it and therefore it costs you more money? Here's an idea - if you don't want to spend more money, don't upgrade? Scorpio and One are confirmed to play the same games anyway so you don't really have a point.
-
No I don't see the point in them doing a 600 DPI screen either (that would be prohibitively expensive and a massive drain on battery life). That said, the DPI rumoured for the NX is still very low for a device coming out in 2017. People are used to much higher and it would be like going back in time 6 years. I also strongly contest that most people don't see the difference - we're talking about essentially the difference between 720p and 4K TVs here, in terms of the rumoured NX DPI versus modern phones.

You're like a broken record Ronnie. The ins and outs of the Neo have been discussed with you at length before (and this really isn't the topic for bringing this up anyhow). The conclusion being that it's optional and you can continue playing at the original spec for the whole generation as always if you wish to spend nothing more. As for the 'more for your money' argument - you literally have no point. You show me one person who wouldn't rather get more for their money on a hardware revision than less. The N3DS is ultimately the same price as the last 3DS but gives you a very modest spec boost (although it brings a stabilised 3D feature and second nub that makes you still want to upgrade). You show me one person that wouldn't have also liked a higher resolution screen or a considerable processing boost thrown in (in this scenario old 3DS owners could still play the same games). I'm saying nothing about the feasibility of this demand, just that you literally have no compelling argument against what the Neo is offering. You're coming across as very bitter here.
-
I would prefer that to the current system of releasing a barely upgraded model every few years at full price any day of the week. More for your money.
-
Well I was commenting on part of that rumoured spec, which tbh is poor for a 2017 launching handheld.
-
I realise that there is battery and expense to consider, but like I mentioned, the budget 2012 Nexus 4 was doing 320 DPI with rather good battery life. By today's standards, I don't see why they couldn't at least achieve the same DPI but with an even lower power consumption due to more efficient components. We can hope that those spec have been updated I guess. Another thing to mention is that this will come out in 2017 and will probably be expected to last another 5-6 years. So we could be into the 2020s and still looking at this screen. I think Nintendo would do well to up their game and not aim so low, if they want to give the machine legs and not continue their reputation of delivering low spec machines.

Of course DPI means shit! The reason your plasma is so low DPI is because you sit a mile away from it!! For a device right in front of your nose it it immediately noticeable if you roll back to something so low DPI. In fact, I just came back from holiday where I used my old Nexus 4 (hence me mentioning it) since for some reason my LG G4 would not work with the 3 sim I got that has data I can use abroad. After just getting back from holiday it is night and day after switching back to my LG G4. Absolutely night and day - so to argue that DPI means nothing is just crazy. I'm genuinely shocked that you think you'd have to be a 'pixel counting jackass' to notice this, and that it's 'marketing bullshit'. Have you ever looked at the screen of an old phone and a relatively new one? Honestly one of the strangest posts I have seen on the forum in a whole - made stranger still by the people thanking you! Beyond a certain point you could argue it's bullshit and diminishing returns to keep pushing resolution. But they are by no means anywhere near that point with the spec listed. Having used a 320 DPI screen phone on holiday for the last week and a half or so and it is very clearly noticeable when I go back to my LG G4 which is over 500 DPI. So to have a device coming next year that is considerably lower than the 2012 phone seems odd to me. As I say, consumers today are used to their phones and for the NX to be so low, I feel it would again create the impression of a cheap product like how the gamepad felt. I hope they improve this because it surely can't be that expensive to aim higher.
-
It better be crisper than that as that's a pretty shite spec screen (237 DPI). For reference, the budget Nexus 4 phone released 4 years ago had a 320 DPI screen. Nintendo again risk making tech outdated way before its time if they go down the ultra cheap route. People nowadays are used to 500+ DPI screens so such poor screens will look jarring. I literally never use the gamepad as a screen for the reason that games look utterly gash on it.
-
Yeah same. It came out very late into the life of the system and I was already playing other games by then.
-
FFXIII was great. It got a bad reputation for various reasons, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. XIII-2 was also great.
-
Nah they're definitely doing something - they make a big deal of select Wii U titles entering their 'classics' range after a couple of years, which means they drop to £20. Meanwhile, most PS4 games can be got for less than £20 after a much shorter period of time (sometimes after just a few months). You can usually pick up new PS4 games for £35-40 on release as well if you shop around or place preorders when sites have coupons running (which I did for Deus ex).

Loved watching this, very nice guys. -
It looks very legit. Interested to see Neo's reveal now.

Exactly what they said about Pillars of Eternity which thrived off Baldur's Gate nostalgia and had 74,000 backers. Around Feb they said they sold 700,000 copies. So around 90% of their sales came after release and not kickstarter. Meanwhile Yooka Laylee got 73,000 backers. I can easily see it selling a lot more post launch.

Haha. I'd love to agree based on how poor their service is, but in actual fact they have copied a lot of basic features. On the subject of shameless Nintendo steals, here's a pretty obvious one:
