So I'm very tempted - but I still don't know anything really about the game. Sell it to me, people! Give me a gist and why I should buy it
-
Though if you have the option of the 3DS/MM3D remake I'd recommend that, not specifically for the 3D itself but it's quite nice to see it looking so crisp with its graphical update. Probably a bit more of a financial commitment/barrier however.
-
So I don't know much about this but seen y'all talking about it and recommending in the General thread - I haven't been gaming much lately but looking to get back into it so wondering if I should pick this up. My only question is does anyone know a good place/deal for it? Once I know a price I can look to get some extra dime to cover it, but given someone compared it to TF2 in that you can play how you sort of choose I'm slightly tempted by it...
-
Can't express how much I loved this. Heard the music and everything in my head.
-
I'd need to look at travel/accommodation prices etc but I'd be keen on attending and helping out on the staffing side if useful. I'm apparently an old and tired man so not sure I'll commit fully to a 24hr gaming sesh(would still come up for the time itself) but really wouldn't mind be involved in any way I can given the cause.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

I don't know if it's the GIF qualities or just the general nature but I do feel a little like when seeing them as if the game's sort of...'over-bloomed'? Like, I had the same issue with WWHD when I saw its pics/footage(and whilst playing) and realise that if I look closer at the detail(something I'm not 100% sure I'll do all the time whilst playing) that it looks almost that the bloom(is that the right word?? I'm such graphics/art noob) or brightness if not or whatever it is seems so dialed up that it excuses the lack of constant detail. Almost cartooning it up to account. As I said I dunno if I'll notice it constantly whilst playing but I can see it being something that might come to annoy me - but that might be because most of what I'm seeing at the moment are screens or looped gifs rather than 1:1 footage capture. -
Forgive me for asking, but did this start off as your dad offering you a lift somewhere and you have somehow turned it around to you giving him a lift instead?
-
Ahh not too bad! Haven't fired up the 3DS in ages but I think I might give it a punt at that price. Just gotta find the charger and see if it's all still working...

Whilst I'd agree and have to admit I'm still following it, the story is still quite current news. I don't think it's fair to tie it in any way to the In/Out referendum nor this thread. Acts and behaviour like that are purely abhorrent and nothing to do with debates like this, despite what anyone might insist or associate with them. EDIT: Sorry should have said this isn't a post to dismiss your views, opinions, or feelings Dog-amoto. Just that if we were to do so I think it would warrant another thread on the separate topic of however one would opt to classify these acts. It's a dangerous topic of conversation with all the recent politics around it, but I don't wish to pre-emptively shut it down if people wish to discuss those issues sensible.

Never played the originally but caught this on some of the treehouse stuff I had on. Looks good/interesting, fresh too. Not a title that blows me away, but that's just me personally, there's some interesting things in there from what is arguably quite a simple mechanic though. May be tempted to get the original in its sale depending on the price and if that offer's over here too(out of interest if it is does anyone know what price?).

But I think you're on the wrong lines if you like the look of this game so far Ronnie. You want a great storyline? This game potentially doesn't even have one, depending on how you play, apparently. It isn't on a set path or line, it's your choice, your adventure. As such, I'm not asking for anyone to be 'shoehorned in' - but I want characters to be there, present. Regardless of whether I ever see them or not. You never had to talk to everyone in Market Town or Karkariko in OoT...but I'd bet most folks did. I'd dare say there's even at least one person out there who never went down the back alleys of Market town, simply because they didn't realise they existed. A lot of characters mentioned in my previous post weren't necessities, they were just there. I'd call them options, but it devalues that existence of them being there in themselves and you just going along your way and business of saving the world. I think for this game to take the huge open world approach it's taking, again akin to what TP sort of attempted, they need to ensure that they put enough into it for it to feel like that. 'Shoehorning' characters isn't the way either, you can make a ton of bland/generic characters to fill space - but what I'm saying that I want and what I think this game truly needs to be a 'Zelda' game is the presence of such characters and uniqueness to them all. -
Hi Ashley, welcome to the forum! (awkward greeting of when you meet somebody and they clearly had no fucking clue what was said) EDIT: Normal response. When I meet new people I will tend to shake their hand if the opportunity is there, I won't force it but I will offer if possible. Sometimes I meet people sitting down/engaged in something, so that's off. It's gender-neutral. Some people go for the hug, if they do, I reciprocate. Some don't, some don't even like a handshake. Usually though I'll go for a good handshake or have it in mind, but gauge the person's reaction. Dude greetings tend to start with a handshake. Lady greetings are always mixed depending on the lady (first time greetings I refer to). Work meeting/greeting is always a handshake. Closer colleagues occasionally get a hug, but rarely. My ultimate goal however is, to one day, hug my boss. I say ultimate, it's a musing I just came up with, but it's nothing something she does lol. I think if anyone can I can though. I'd probably have to throw a handshake in their for prosperity's sake though. Hugging - I love a hug. It never used to be the done thing when I was younger and in the late 90s, I feel it came up a bit more in the early 00s. I adopted it as a teen and kept with it. Again - generally gender neutral, but it's person dependant. I think I hug most dudes I know these days, usually on a goodbye rather than a hello, and most dudettes get a hug too. I've currently only got a specific greeting/goodbye handshake with one dude, iirc. I'm currently making a bit of a point of not hugging a guy mate though(GF's cousin). He hugged me goodbye as getting off a bus a few months back and smashed me into the fucking pole thingy, fucked a rib completely. He's very insistent on hugs, so I like to make the joke about the rib now. It's not quite a unique handshake, but it's a little joke for me and him(he still wants da hugs tho). When I meet a new person, whilst starting with a handshake, I do find sometimes it will be a goodbye with a hug. I tend, again, to go for it with verbal warning, and people don't necessarily object. I think I just prefer a hug, even if it's a manly bro-hug.

But if you knew your Zelda, you'd know they're all characters from the entire series that have stayed with me, and no doubt countless others, despite just being some side people in your story, or you in theirs. They're only a handful of all of the ones I remember, and I felt I should stop the list. That's what I mean when I talk about it's charm. There's some I even forget, but all of those were off the top of my head and there's many more I could list if I continued. The charm of Zelda hasn't necessarily been its wealth of characters, but each and every one's uniqueness. They all exist in your adventure, but also too in just their own lives. You aren't really anything to them, but you meet them and they're part of YOUR story, even if you're not part of theirs. I don't know if I can say or think of any other game series that has or does the same for me. For many you don't even ever get to know their names. You can only recall or describe them by their stories, but what little you know of them. Whilst I'm very keen on what the new Zelda is doing with gameplay - I want/need it to be a game that captures all of that for me. Tbh I think that essence is something that makes MM one of my favourite games, because it really, really, REALLY, captured the fact that all these people exist. With all their own little quirks and charms, and went about their day without a clue that you were essentially saving their world, and yet they all helped you along your way. -

Personally I don't notice too much. I think it looks good, but not remarkable. I think the art style allows and adds to its movement, possibly similar to how Wind Waker would have at the time. I do feel it looks a bit to Skyward Sword-esque, and hoped for something a bit more different - but ultimately I've always generally been a gameplay over graphics kind of man. I think that did shift somewhat since getting a HDTV after having my 360, but I think really it looks nice/acceptable enough for me. Again, for me and Zelda, it comes down to charm. Things look good so far, I like what seems to be new iterations of classic enemies, I'm hoping we'll equally get some quirky looking NPCs etc too. One thing I will give TP, is that hilarious little midget Malo. I want that. I want so much more of that. I want the jugglers/circus folks. I want an old lady who loves her fucking dog. I want Ingo/Gormans. I want Gorons of all shapes and sizes. I want a kid with a drippy fucking nose. I want little pigs that fart out green gas when they're scared. I want a guy who scratches himself and loses his hair. I want a grown man who thinks he's a fairy. I want a poor little girl who's just scared about the aliens coming to town that wants to be saved by her grasshopper. I want a big mean man in black with a smokers lung. I want a mysterious old man. I want some kid who doesn't think I'm hard enough because I don't have a sword and shield. I want someone who likes to rave to a hot hot beat. I want a princess who's in love with me, even if she can't have me. I want a kid who's still the same kid, who sees a man but can't quite figure out why he remembers him. I want a kid, lost and alone in the forest for years, alone and scared and just looking for friends. I want a creepy old dude with an unhealthy mask fetish. I want a local gang of do-gooding kids. I want to meow when I've never seen a cat in my life. I want a teacher who's adored. I want a father who's embarrassed. I want a mother who misses her son. I want a woman who misses her fiance. I want a dude with a stutter who's just trying to get into his room. I want a mayor, overwhelmed by the requests of his people. I want a guard who thinks he's invisible. I want a girl who just loves her brother. I want a bird lady who's happy to go on an adventure. I want a big tree and all his children. I want a pirate! And her merry men! I want a man who likes to drive trains. I want a man who's going to sell me things in his boat. I want a man who wears a silly helmet, but still sells me things from his boat. I want a big fairy lady who doesn't wear enough and has a cackle that'll scare the shit out of a child. I want an uncle who wants me to stay in bed. I want a princess who just wants to escape. I want to see a horned bully beating on some poor little ball. I want a monkey who'll show me the way, if the price is right. I want an old man, hiding in the desert. I want a girl, who I mistake for my princess. I want a goat who just wants a hibiscus. I want a mother and father who are just trying to raise their baby right. I want a man who loves his vases. I want a scarecrow in a field, who just loves a hard tune. I want a kangaroo, a dodongo, a flying bear, to be my friend. I want to save a princess, and meet all these people on the way. I want the charm of their characters and their existence, beyond and without me. Simple, and easy. I want a dancing goddess, an angel with a harp. I want them, and all the rest too. I just want it to have some fucking character, or maybe even a few more, and I'm really worried that it won't. I want to meet them all on my adventure. That's Zelda, truly, for me. -
I did find it/them somewhat annoying last year, but there was more content appealing to me there that I really didn't mind it as much. In terms of a list for E3 the above does look somewhat paltry, but I also haven't put focus anywhere else for a good comparison either. I was trying to get what I could with Nintendo and treehouse but just found too much Zelda and the videos didn't seem to be timestamped/gamemarked at all. Not sure anything from the above list jumps out barring Zelda and *maybe* Paper Mario(tired/wary of that, somewhat) but I'll try and check them out at some point later on. I'm sure there was also some whatever SMT x FE is now called too? I did catch a brief bit of what I presumed to be that on Treehouse, but again I've kinda gone off it since when I first saw it. Don't know if it'll be something I get into enough now, I feel like my general gaming time/passion has diminished on the whole tbh.

Sorry I'll just wait for the entire future to occur and put my life on hold in the meantime before saying or doing anything instead. BRB going to burrito in my quilt for 50 years. -
I've run out of thanks but I do appreciate the thought :p Tbh I'm not sure why - I think it's both that most people do, but also that when I was younger on the internet I never knew if it should really be Spider-Man or Spider-man or Spiderman or whatevs and I used to use Spidey a lot more but then the wrong capitalisation with the hyphen bothered me so much that I knew if I made it all just one word I would be fine without worrying instead(espesh as comics tend to be all caps anyhow). You've made me might curious as to whether there's a solidly accurate official naming convention on it now though...

Spiddermin! Iirc it wasn't 2 that did it to me, it was having played another one or two afterwards. I don't even remember what ones, because I probably hit the franchise similar to yourself! I think one was Web of Shadows or something. Venom spawn/symbiotes seemed to be quite a thing in it. Haven't played any since for fear of getting instantly bored, but very tempted to jump back in for this one. Also I don't know where I saw it but I'm sure something's said that the footage in the show wasn't pre-cut, but rather in-game engine, which is also kind of reassuring(though tbh I assumed that when watching).

Can anyone hit me with a summary of what Nintendo's actually put out? I've tried over the last few days to have treehouse streams on in the background(non-live) but more often than not it's just more and more Zelda footage. I don't know when/where to find the other stuff. Also adding to the Not-a-fan-of-Audrey camp. Can't believe they brought her back this year. Just almost glad they don't have as much going on so I didn't have to see/hear her as much!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Rummy replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I know you don't like to hear it Ronnie, and I'm very glad and appreciative of this potential Zelda direction as it's right up my street, as TP would have been, as long as they manage to capture the charm of the game that tends to be in the things we haven't actually seen. Whilst that's a very positive article for this one game - my concern is still that this is just one game. Is this Nintendo now? A one-trick-pony heavily built on a single game to satiate their current users and somehow encourage adopters of their next system? I know it's an old argument, but how many people are actually going to pick up or buy this game from the general population? How much is it going to bring in for Nintendo? If it isn't some overwhelming success, if it doesn't bring in a ton of new users, what happens then to both the future of Nintendo, and importantly, this franchise too? No matter how good this one game is? Telling me there's a huge queue to play the next game in one of the biggest series franchises of all time really just does not say enough about the future to me. It tells me that Zelda was, is, and possibly still will be great. But my concern is whether that in itself is enough. Would you be the same if it was an article about the queues worldwide for games like GTA, CoD, or FIFA? I'm not so sure. -
How did you know my reasons?!?! Nah but seriously I'm in. Mostly because I think Out is gonna really hurt our economy and a lot of the promises being made by the campaigners aren't actually currently feasible promises(lack of power to promise/make those decisions, uncertainties etc). Immigration doesn't come onto my radar with it at all, I'm just very scared for our economy if we're out. I think the NHS is in jeopardy either way, but I think even more so if we leave, too. I have friends voting Leave though. Whilst I can disagree and I have had discussions with some of them, I fully respect that we've all been given a vote and they're free to exercise and use that(I am tempted to remind them if it goes shit, though). I'm still going to use mine, but personally I really don't think this should have been something left in the hands of the British public, in such a short time frame, with such little education provided. I think it's all just far too complex a picture for us all as armchair politicians to decide upon. The betting bug has bitten me recently. I'm very tempted to vote Leave(though odds are shortening) just so I get some small satisfaction even though it isn't the true outcome I want. EU sanctions on thankings and politeness I'm afraid. Soon you're not even going to be allowed to say sorry even when someone else bumps into you. the above is just a little joke please don't get upset or think I'm mocking anyone's views for being Leave, I'm not OMG ARE WE GOING TO BECOME N-UK?!?! Again, this isn't an attack on those wanting to Leave(I personally can see legit arguments for both sides but feel, for me, the balance of probabilities re benefit are on those of Remain) but someone shared this this morning and I just found it unbelievable. I used to like Boris but this kinda thing quite scares me now.

Always been a big Spidey and subsequent Marvel fan, and I was ever so pleasantly surprised when I discovered the spiderman games on I think my Xbox?? Think I had Spiderman 2, and was very suitably impressed with it at the time. Played a few more since, but eventually I got one problem; I found them repetitive. I know it's a problem you're likely to get with open-world/free roam style things, where there's just not an easy way to balance a large/vast world for exploring with sub-activities that are varied enough, but that'd be my main concern with this too. Having said that - I definitely took note after seeing it in the Sony conf. The previously titles have, as I said, very much impressed me with their general conduct and movement etc. it's only the repetitiveness that got me so I'd certainly be keeping an eye out for this at the £30ish mark or so, or even sooner depending on user feedback once it's out!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Rummy replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Tbh I don't think that's really particular news. It's always worked for the DS due to the proximity of screens, but that extra few split seconds dashing your eyes up and down and re-adjusting with the game pad doesn't come anywhere near acceptable. I'm sure there was something I played on WiiU before that made me think the same, but I can't recall what now. Also whilst this is looking good - I'm still wondering about this NX dual-release and delay. I'm not planning to get an NX after my personal experience with WiiU - but I wonder; would it be a good idea to allow a crossbuy/free upgrade to any WiiU owners of this for NX? Like if I bought this at first and change my mind down the line and do end up with an NX. -

Watched a few little bits and read @Murr's Nintendo summation on his page. It's very different(and sadly seems quite heavily focused) to what I'd expect of a Zelda, but it looks good and I'm enjoying the approach it's taken so far. I'm still upset about the delay and the dual-release, but from the little bits I'm seeing coming out of this and what people are talking to me about it's certainly a game I'd think about picking up on release now. -
Tried to watch/catch-up this morning. I enjoyed it, I guess, but I wasn't too focused. I liked their approach of just letting the games speak for them rather than people, but not sure how much many of them spoke to me. I'm sure many more little tidbits and smaller games will come out of things(probably already have) and they're probably likely to be the ones that appeal more to me.
