Whilst I don't agree with liger's points I don't think it's an entirely unreasonable post given there certainly IS mixed reaction. I found out this weekend that my mate and his son just traded their copies in for Overwatch as they just weren't feeling it. I however agree that on a larger scale it looks like NMS has been a pretty good success in terms of sales. I personally never had any hype etc as I didn't follow it and I still don't own it but I'm still here posting in the thread too! I guess part of my motivation to post re: this was just given it's come up elsewhere about people almost telling people what they can and can't post(not saying you were doing that, though). As said I'm not fussed/complaining though - I'm hoping it's going to lead to a rather swifter than expected price drop Personally I see myself, having seen impressions and reports here, being one of the sort of people who'll enjoy it when I get round to it. If anything lack of multiplayer is a bonus on that front as it should mean my experience is still fairly the same! YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH, WHORE! (jk please dont hate me <3)

I'm still behind! Caught up on Episode 5 on Sunday(tho I think I've still missed one along the way) - really liked that kid who was basically entirely self-taught. Some interesting ideas and design, shows what can happen when you aren't conventional/traditional I guess. Glad he got his wins - gonna try and catch up on the final sometime this week(missed it because I was catching up on work, and I'm posting at 3.14am because...I'm currently catching up on the work I didn't catch up enough on :p)

I want to address this though - in case my enlargened and emboldened post was missed - let's not get to the point of telling people what they can and cannot talk about. Can't understand why people post what they do? That's fine, that's you - but let it be posted and move on past it. Can't stand someone's posts? Add them to your ignore list and if they provoke you intentionally after that then raise it with us. (not understanding and not agreeing are two different things) ^ It really is that simple. Anyone who's here and not breaking rules has every right to post their thoughts - regardless of whether it's positive, negative, neutral, or just general speculation and so forth.

Chill out @dazzybee, it was simply a throwback to an old joke I made once in response to similar sentiments

Used it BEFORE thoroughly looking around(ie not just google shoppping comparison) but I'm PS+'d up for another year now nonetheless. For anyone else - Argos have a 365 day membership card for £30, as opposed to more for the 12 month card(but I believe both are exactly the same right?). May still buy and resell an Argos one or just keep it in the bag for next year. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9099005.htm

Interesting thoughts on them actually selling it as a two-piece optional! What happens if you decide post-purchase to get a dock - is it a little pricier or same price? Does it open up the future to iterative dock upgrades?

As EEVIL says they'd probably have to be things you do yourself - though you could see if given the fall through and the issues if there's any money you can get off; but I'd say it's unlikely. I had Homebuyers Reports done on two houses, one I didn't end up with(had a number of 2s/3s though, notably evidence of prevous woodworm which I almost got a further survey out of) and the one I did end up with(still had 2s/3s but less so) - I've been here 2 and a half years now and I've not done any of them. House is still ticking over fine. Houses are old, they're not perfect, I'd be interesting in seeing what the general average stats are of HBRs on the whole. I think sometimes the HBR was just another way to be creating some business and work and ticking boxes - no Surveyor will err on the side of caution due to liability, and everyone seems to 'highly encourage' you to do one but really you can't seem to enforce much out of one unless there's a super terrible problem - or at least that's my opinion anyway. BUT - in no way take my word as gospel. I only had 2 HBRs done, I've only owned one property. I can't really say it's a full position to judge, but I know that if I buy again in future I probably won't care quite as much now.

1. Yes but maybe late september after Neo/Scorpio news. 2. I wish but probably not. 3. I'd have to say sadly quite likely. 4. No, but Mario and a possibly a new gimmick will 5. Yes, aiming for WW release, but it may get delayed in territories come time. 6. I thought it was but definitely so. 7. Not yet but I think they'll talk about Miiverse. 8. Not yet, possibly down the line post release. (EDIT: Forgot to say most of this was probably more my wishful thinking that actual predicted outcomes - they seem sensible/rational to me, but you sometimes just never know what Nintendo are going to do!)

Yeah I was gonna put 1080p in my list there but I thought it was being said that the chip might not be as capable - I'm not even sure I'd notice the difference tbh. Isn't there issues around the XBone doing 1080p across the board or am I confusing something there? I also don't really understand the whole upscaling thing too much either(like what the 'cost' is). Don't get me wrong, I do agree with the point that it should be 1080p at home if it's a system to last; I'm just not sure how much it will fuss me personally if it isn't. I was happy enough with how most of the stuff looked on the WiiU from what I recall. So there was actually nothing wrong with the Wii U then, it was just crap yeah :p?

I think you've completely missed or ignored most of his points there, Ronnie. Anyhow I wanted to come back to some of this display stuff - if it's hybrid what's the odds of there being given options on what handheld mode might be able to display? A bit like 3DS where you can have it on but have less battery life - maybe you can have 480/540/720p options but obviously the latter on the go may cause a bigger drain/strain on the console. However at home with the dock(extra-powered) you can easily have the 720p for the TV? Some might be happy with that, and it can help address those battery concerns, and it gives the people who aren't TOO bothered about the extra to use what works well enough for them?

Certainly an interesting idea. I think MM worked so well because they were re-using assets it made them have to think more about how to really make the game different - and they really did. I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of that on occasion, but as long as it doesn't become a regular occurrence to prevent burnout/franchise fatigue and sub-par offerings. I'd really still like to see them try and remake a 2D game in 3D though(so like maybe a 3D LttP).
-
Not sure I enjoyed that as much as the previous but I think it's maybe just because MM's design just doesn't quite mesh with the series' focus as well. The wealth of its content is really outside of dungeons and dungeon design, and there's mini-dungeons as mentioned which aren't delved into. The well would have been an interesting focus in its nature of paying the Gibdo's for passage between doors as an alternative form of keys, whilst also recognising that much of the items required for said passage are actually very interestingly available within said mini-dungeon too. There are some barriers there admittedly but in my repeated playthroughs I think I recall thinking that I could find stuff if I had paid attention.

Hmm. Ok. I can see this potentially getting a bit messy/heated on the present situation. Let's try to keep it NX/system related - yes there are issues and certain people don't necessarily mesh with other people - but let's not get to a point of telling people what they can or cannot talk about(not a new issue, either). Can't understand why people post what they do? That's fine, that's you - but let it be posted and move on past it. Can't stand someone's posts? Add them to your ignore list and if they provoke you intentionally after that then raise it with us. No debate or discussion is ever going to be one-sided really - it defeats its nature. To expect that is foolish. I realise all of this isn't helped by the limited amount of information we actually have on the NX as Ashley mentions - but please let's just try to remember that everyone's opinion should be equally valid and they should be allowed to express it.

Sorry Sir, I forgot the party line. Nintendo is good. Nintendo is God. (I'M STILL WATCHING YOU @drahkon)

Still not an owner of the game but I found that pretty amusing. Was constantly waiting for Columbo to ask him just one more thing though Has anyone gotten bored/burnt out yet? I'm wondering with these mixed reactions if it's the sort of game that might see a lot of abandonment/trade-ins and price drops within a few months - I think I do wanna pick it up at some point but might wait for dat price point and when I've got a bit more time on my hands.
-
I do think they need to announce it at a show or something for hands on from other media(and preferably sooner rather than later); but I also think it'd be really nice if they have a surprise Direct at the same time to bring it to people at home as best they can in addition to it - just builds up the interest a bit more imo.

What's the latest/up and coming in battery tech? Is it possible that NX might even use a new form? I didn't know what was and wasn't feasible presently and for future, but had a quick google and have ended up nerding out a little bit over an article about various recent innovations in battery tech - maybe others will enjoy too: http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/130380-future-batteries-coming-soon-charge-in-seconds-last-months-and-power-over-the-air

I've thought about this before, and had the conversation with a fair few people(me and a lady at work sometimes talk about what we'd do with our big lottery wins...despite the fact neither of us actually play it :p) and I'm not going to lie - I imagine I'd be quite boring about it. Try and put that million into some sort of safe investment with a semi-decent return(a plan I made when interest was more around the 3%+ mark) and continue working and then just live off the combined earnings. At 4% it's already a 40 grand a year income, supplement it with a job and I'd be happy knowing I'm essentially going to have that forever - ofc, again, rates withstanding. Over time you'd still be able to save and end up with even more on the end of it! Maybe use some of the extra to speculate on a few things, see if there are greater returns etc. but just always keep that base million there to build off of. I'd probably like to think I'd spend the first few months being a little mental with it, then calm down for a few years and start giving some of the extra I can afford back to people in my life etc. Silly to think though - how easy it can be to make money simply by having it.

My first hands-on with a Wii U was a mate's before I had mine - I recall trying some NSMBU off-screen play whilst playing around and seeing what the thing could do etc. Sitting a normal distance from the console - I noticed artifacting or something on Mario just at that; it did put me off a bit. Of course I was still interested in the WiiU, thinking that off-TV wouldn't be something I'd use, and was expecting lots of asymmetrical gaming experiences that I still bought the console when I saw it on a good deal/price - but I was rather disappointed and essentially put off of Off-TV play after that experience(and also the gamepad's incredibly poor range). Btw I've seen the 3DS mentioned in terms of all this DPI/screen stuff - I recall again playing my mate's 3DSXL and found the screen on that a bit shitter feeling than the original 3DS's screen. Seemed a bit 'brighter'(like, whiter/lighter as happens when you up brightness on a TV) and that also put me off getting a 3DSXL - felt that the original 3DS screen offered a more vibrant experience.

Gaming Podcasts: A Thread about Listening to Others

Whole-heartedly agree that Rare could have brought those to the table - but only in the form they were before the decision forthat transaction(which I guess, is obvious in itself). The Stampers looked like they wanted out; they asked Ninty for a price that they weren't prepared to pay and then it ended up with Microsoft and Ninty selling their ends for a nice cash injection. I do think it would have been good for them to try and keep Rare, but not at literally any cost. There's opportunity costs in everything and who knows, maybe it could have been the best thing they ever did had they taken Rare when the offer was there - but I still stand by that having seen the results since they haven't had to face the potentially stiff competition they would have from Rare otherwise. I do, in someways, believe Nintendo and Rare were a strangely beautiful synergy that was based on a legacy and time, one that wouldn't have been fully respected by anyone new coming in. It's a grand shame, but I honestly sometimes wonder whether Rare could have been any better than they were, as they were, with Nintendo back in the N64 days. It's almost the perfect formula - any change was bound to mess it up. -

I haven't listened to the podcast but I do think Nintendo were right to sell Rare, given the turn of events since. I'm also aware of a lot of the stuff you mentioned, compared to what people tend to generally believe. Rare had already lost key members before the sale, and it seemed as if they might lose more after - what's the point buying a studio just for its name alone if all the talent's jumping ship? Obvs as you say some of the charm remained but their output wasn't quite the same after(Viva Pinata was a great IP tho, enjoyed it for a little while at least). Definitely agree they certainly didn't need babysitting either, as you've said Rare pretty much held up the N64 alongside Nintendo - I'd say they're one of the reasons the console saw the success it did - that's why I'm quite excited for Playtonic now. -
The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts New Book
Rummy replied to Ike's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Ahhh, had a little look - only a few pic but it's kinda what I was expecting/hoping for. I used to love a lot of the official art they did to accompany the games, I recall the Prima guides tended to feature bits in them too which I really enjoyed(had one for Oracles games). It's interesting seeing them do so much more around the game than needed, don't feel like that's something that really occurs much anymore. -
Then you'd think you'd have fucking learned them by now, wouldn't you!! Just seems like typical Reggie PR speak to me too, everything they've done before being done again. I'll believe the product when I see it.

Revivial - Ahhhh! I second these! Would definitely take a proper new 3D Mario with an excellent hub world and more open nature, with secrets and options etc as Shorty mentions. Failing Mario I'd go for a new 3D Metroid ala Metroid Prime. Orrrr....something ExciteBots-esque in the modern vibe. Crossover - Hmm. I'm not really sure on this one tbh. I feel like I want something a bit Animal Crossingy but with more to it- maybe a bit of that+a bit of the HM vibes? Could it work? I dunno. Exclusive - This would have to be a new Monster Hunter for me. Whilst I've not played tons of Monster Hunter, I do think with the NX console/handheld nature this would be perfect. Meet people out and about and go on little local hunts together - become friends and go on hunts online at home too. Maybe you get access to bigger/different locations in Home/docked mode than you just as a handheld.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

I can hear it now... Brrrrrtickitickeechickarrrr-brrrrrtickitickeechickarrrr-open yo' eyes Brrrrrtickitickeechickarrrr-brrrrrtickitickeechickarrrr-Wake 'hup, Link! It's more D'n'B and Pokemon than dubstep zelda(which I have some of somewhere) but I'd meant to post this ages ago in response. Unironically actually quite like this(like, not all the time though).
