I'm a PS4 lad @flameboy and I'd be interested depending when it is etc if it's for the MM. I'm still trying to figure out atm if I can make it up to Manc for the event the guys are doing up there too tho.

I tried getting into it again on Monday, just decided to faff with bounties and kill some taken invasions/champions on Venus - using 3oCs etc and the FUCKING THING disconnected me just after like an hour or two as a champion/ultra was done and I think I saw an exotic engram drop and I just decided to ragequit the whole thing but yeah - are server issues common now or anything? I, strangely, found it a bit weird/clunky/slow going back to. I dunno if that's just cos the only other thing I've played recently is overwatch or what but hmm. Not sure if I'll get back into the Destiny slog at the current price without mates planning to do the same. Also, no matter how hard I google or try to find the answer I just simply cannot - if I do NOT purchase RoI but try to decrypt engrams etc(such as blues) without RoI will they decrypt as before or will they be likely to decrypt higher with the new stuff? Everything just exclusively references RoI but I dunno if that's because it hasn't been tested/tried without or what and it's really annoying me cos I don't wanna waste time trying if it's not gonna do anything for me! (basically I wanna play and up my light a bit to see if I'm happy to get back into it without actually buying RoI first. Current thinking is wait a few months and buy it for maybe half price in a sale at xmas or some shit iono)

Don't matter none without the camera though, I take it? I'll have to try and pick it up next time I actually go down CEX way.

No worries! I just wasn't sure if you'd looked into the adapter side of things, besides which I never knew it'd be as easy on 10 as Londragon said! I'd probably suggest ebay or so for the Bluetooth adapter - but may be worth checking with @londragon on his advice?

Niiice! Think I'll download/take for a spin tonight! Anyone know how big the demo is?

Not 100% but saw that advert on the TV so it's gotta be coming sometime not too far away I imagine. I had a quick Wiki perusal that suggested it's coming to the UK late this year(we're pretty much there now) and to the US early 2017. Also I do believe that Trinity from The Matrix is in the new season. Other than that I've not read or looked into much as I don't want to accidentally spoil myself or anything. Very excited though. Whilst reading I saw that it was apparently Channel 4's highest viewed show since 1992, too!

Thanks @Glen\-i(actually can't thank atm for some reason). I think what I'll try to do is see if I can re-play Xenoblade but with cheats or something to blitz it and refresh it in my head as I can't face the grindy times of it(not that it was particularly grindy, mind, but I don't know when/where I'll find the time otherwise) and then see about maybe jumping onto XCX if I find it at an acceptable price. I did find myself doing a lot of exploring/sidequesting collections in Xenoblade but I suppose it might be a little different being forced to do it, rather than just happening to otherwise. Thanks again for the views!

But what about the butter??

As far as I'm aware "this message board's definition" doesn't exist in such a context and has led to this current discussion as the point/view was trying to be clarified. I think as time has shown, the definition of the lines of hardcore/casual etc have been and probably always will be rather blurred especially in a constantly changing landscape of gaming. Plus a lack of any solid or official decision - what authority exists to make it? Mostly due to all of that, I don't like the terms of words. They do have a place sometimes, but often it's a difficult line to draw. Would I consider someone who's playing 100+ hours of Candy Crush a month on a consistent basis casual? Probably not. Someone who's playing something closer to 10-30 hours? Maybe so. I don't think the game in particular should matter, rather more the gamer's intents and passions etc. Yet whilst I say that - Candy Crush does pop into my head as more 'casual' than most things you'd find on a console. Would this have been the same 10, 20, 30 years ago? Was there a point where the real hardcore would have been PC gamers as opposed to console gamers, or handheld gamers? Inb4 PCMR. What of someone putting in the same amount of time as the 'hardcore' candy crusher; but across 10-20 different games? Of course Ronnie did address that earlier in calling them 'hardcore' in terms of the games, but casual on the more general level - but that's exactly the problem really. It's saying they're essentially both and keeping them lines blurred! Saying GAF's hardcore; does that imply we are or we aren't? It's all just too binary. (Also totes for the record if this was anywhere else I'd be saying for it to be getting more back on topic than it currently is - but with lack of NX news for discussion it's a bit difficult and I can see a tangential relevance to it in terms of market etc; depending on how/where it goes)
-
I think ultimately it's very clear that you're just exceptionally hardcore at being casual @Pestneb. Or maybe exceptionally casual at being hardcore? Either way, it's very clear. VERY. CLEAR. (also that totes made me think of this webcomic about type As and Bs)

Absolutely fair enough, just wasn't sure if you'd look into the other ways. Ignore me!

Don't hold me to this(especially as I don't know Windows 10) but I believe the devices are just bluetooth and with a cheap bluetooth dongle/adapter(or, if you already have bluetooth, just that) you should be able to find something out there to make the pads work with the computer. Is it a PC or laptop as the latter is likely to already have a bluetooth adapter in it?
-
And of course only part quoted my point and ignored the 5 examples of non-regular N-E members I mentioned, as well as discounting himself. I think it's clear where this 'conversation' is going - pretty much nowhere and yet wildly off the already off topic as half the points are ignored Didn't we have some sort of casual vs hardcore thread somewhere before anyway?
-
There's a definite nostalgic Rare feel to this and the voices. The possibilities of modern tech in the hands of devs like that makes me very excited for this - I think it's going to be huger than we might expect.

It's always fun to see speculative claims from you - but what do you base them on? A discrepancy between two different pieces of hardware released at different times that should somehow be relatable because they're from the same manufacturer? Of course this goes into my previous of being in little echo chambers - but the majority of people I know on here didn't buy a PS4 for Fifa or CoD, nor do I see many of the people on my friendslist playing them. Outside of these forums alone I can think of 5 people I know who have PS4s and definitely didn't buy them for Fifa or CoD - 6 or even 7 counting me and then you. Where's the line between casual and hardcore then? What's it make us on here if GAFs of such relevance? Are any of us not hardcore gamers for not being on GAF? Are we casual? But we care about the NX? Seems like rather blurred lines to me.

Is the Slim actually out already? I was seeing adverts on the side of some buses a week or two ago!

Dat FFX laugh doh. Interesting thoughts on XCX @Glen\-i - I loved Xenoblade Chronicles a lot despite never finishing it(still need to actually re-blitz it at some point if I can, just for the story etc). I never picked up XCX because I just wasn't sure about it and it took a bit longer than I'd hoped and my hype died. Hearing your thoughts makes me glad, though the hoarding buyer in me feels like I should still attempt to get it even though I know I'll probably do exactly what you suggest and fall off of it. How much of it would you say you finished? Just story? Lots of collecting/exploring? How many hours would you say it all took you?

Soz man I thought I had actually replied to this! He said it was that sort of thing for a few quids of the amazon - he feels like it did as good as a component does, so...that's the best I can give you in absence of any other comments here! Any real surprise? It's too late in the dead console's life to be trying to get system sellers espesh with NX round the corner - besides which I'd daresay BotW's already done as much system selling as it was going to with what's happened to it(I bought the Wii U knowing I'd get Smash, Zelda, and possibly another Xenoblade even though I never actually bought XCX). I really fucking hope there's a decent print of BotW on Wii U though. If that becomes hard to find too fast people are going to be far more pissed off than I think they'll expect.

Only has to be as awkward as you make it. It sounds like it's not a possibility right now so write it off and carry on as usual. A couple of my good female friends now are actually girls I asked out at some point even if nothing came of it. If anything it makes everything even easier as the awkwardness of not knowing is all out of the way! Don't mention it, don't apologise - just don't think of it as a possibility and carry on as normal. As for not doing it if you didn't think there was a chance - kinda as above sometimes just do it anyway to get it out of the way(obvs don't neccessarily just ask out every girl you meet, but like...if there's any interest on your part do it and get it over with sort of thing).

Is your photobucket broken or something? Just noticed yours and Phube's sigs are displaying photo not found error photo?
-
Yeah, as it was a point being made that they have mindshare - but you have to think that we're in little echo chambers and are far more likely to be following and paying attention to these things than many more people at large. To base too much on GAF is very silly as both Glen-I and Serebii have said, and tbh even basing things on us here is still going to be pretty unrepresentative of what I believe to be the gaming market at large.

I had at least 3 gamers that I considered as more traditionally Nintendo gamers asking me about when the WiiU was happening after it was already released. That really opened my eyes to some more of what Nintendo dropped the ball on at the time. Re: pricing, they gotta go low now imo. £200-250 at most; PS4s will be posing some competition with xmas, new models, and price cuts on old ones etc. EDIT: Ha! I see @killthenet already basically said the same but better, great minds ! The only other alternative if the price is high as far as I can see is to really push the angle of this being both a console to play at home(and why you should do so) AND a console to play on the go(and why that's better than your phone 3ds etc).

Think one of the Zelda pages I follow on facebook shared it, actually chuckled out loud when I saw it because of the Mario connection and obvious current frustration. One positive to take at least is that some of these pics/gifs arising are pretty amusing so at least we can still laugh while we're waiting endlessly for the news!
