Despite the lack of cut scenes (which is CRIMINAL as they're probably the best cut scenes I've ever seen, I just love the style of them and the animation is soooo beautiful) I've not had this much fun with a game for a long time. Infact it's been a long time indeed since i've been sat up past midnight just plugging away on one game.

Command & Conquer Tiberium Wars Wii Bound?
Zechs Merquise replied to SINFIELD's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Although C&C is is one of my all time favorite games, I adore it and have every gamne and every expansio pack, but It'll never make it to Wii. -
I was looking forward to this review. It just reinforces what I'd thought all along. I would like to see the option of the traditional control method in games as well as the Wii-mote control. I think it will be quite a while before developers really get to grips with the new control method, and until then things will feel a little off in many 3rd party titles. I don't see why FPS controls on the Wii can't simply be look/turn with the analogue stick on the nunchuck, move forward and back and side step with the D-Pad and then simply use the pointer to point at you enemies and lock on? I think it will be extremely hard for developers to get it right when using the Wii-mote to turn by pointing it to the edge of an imaginary bounding box. Just a thought, but that's how i'd design the controls. (I'd also make then reversible, so you could look/turn with the D-pad and run/side step with the analogue on the nunchuck)

For once I completely agree with you!

I agree fully!

HAHAHA, yeah it does sound like an M&S advert. I think they should do a Zelda advert like this with a massive orchestral score like the one from the original trailer when it was first unveiled.

Hey people, it's FIFA, it's a football game, they change the stats every year - get over it. Hey people, it's Madden, it's an American football game, they change the stats every year - get over it. Hey people, it's Tony Hawks, they slightly refine the concept each time, oh but we give that a perfect 10 because we're wankers.

Well, I saw the advert for Gears of War last night on channel 4 during Lord of the Rings, wow is all I can say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wcc-ERAEwA I just thought this was amazing, I really hope Wii can have such evocotive ads.

Oh come on, how many games are revolutionary these days? Most games are now are EVOLUTIONARY, ie evolved forms of existing franchises and genres. Take for example Wolfenstein and DOOM, they were revolutionary games, they changed the way we played, but since then the genre has just evolved. Sometimes it has evolved in great leaps and bounds, but have we really seen a revolutionary FPS since then that has changed the way we play? Look at games like FIFA and Madden - they simply evolve in very small increments everytime, but they are still polished and payable games (I realise that is a matter of opinion, and although I choose not to play those games, many do and I believe they are still polished titles). Mario 64 was REVOLUTIONARY, Zelda OOT was REVOLUTIONARY as was Tetris and Super Mario Bros. Now when looking at the Gamespot score it simply doesn't make sense to knock this game for simply being and evolution of Zelda. Gamespot score Tont Hawks 3 as the best game of all time well that is strange, as that game is clearly an example of EVOLUTION in gaming, but still it scores a perfect 10 - and by the same reviewer. How bizarre!

LoL, Yes Gamespot are UTTER dicks, according to their top games of all time, Tony Hawks reigns supreme and SSX Tricky is better than Twilight Princess. MMM quality reviewing there!

I don't know, it's too early to tell as of yet. No one saw the PS1 beating the N64, and no one saw the DS beating the PSP. We could easily see the less powerful system dominate. However there are a lot of variables, Microsoft has a 7 million lead for a start. I think the Wii will either be a success on a massive scale, or simply flop. I don;t believe there will be an inbetween.

ooooh Wii outselling PS3? Hmmm we will see! But I hope it's true! http://www.nextgenireland.citymax.com/salesfigures.html Clickable link!

Wifi Worries, How can Wii get ourselves online?
Zechs Merquise replied to dannbrownn's topic in Nintendo Gaming
So you can't just plug your broadband into it via USB or ethernet connection? -
I think what that fat **** did was sad. He's simply tried to knock the game to generate hits for Gamespot. They've basically been knocking the Wii and I think being anti-Nintendo. I said before this game came out that there would be some reviewers who would try to make a name for themselves by knocking this game - Jeff is one of them. If every score had come back in that region, then it would be fair, but for just one review to come back like that suggests they got it wrong, now that's fine. But when it is one of the two BIG internet gaming sites (IGN & GAMESPOT) that gets it wrong then you start to wonder. Also, when a game like this comes along, a game surrounded by so much hype and part of one the most beloved series of games of all time, reviewers are supposed to choose their scores even more carefully - to really make sure they get it right. In this case I don't believe Jeff did get it right, and I believe he KNOWS he didn't score it right - he did it for attention. For me, I think Gamespot have been very anti-Wii, overly so, and to the point of looking biased. This is just the latest in their long line of ridiculous review scores. I just sincerely hope they lose readers over this issue.

It did top the all format charts in the US on it's release though. Just goes to show what a big name license can do for sales, even when the ovrall product is crap.
-
True, but's good to see Link winning the greatest game character of all time every year
-
What a stupid idea.
-
Very well said.
-
The big shock there comes from Rainbow Six Vegas, IGN gave it 9.3!
-
Great stuff, thanks Dante, I love the boxart pic too!
-
Lol, as ever Dante flys in with the knowledge that counts, in this case photographic proof that 'Jeff' is a retard!
-
Sonic has NEVER worked in 3D, and this game looks to continue the tradition. I think they need to re-evaluate Sonic.
-
I getting this, and the Wii version, but i'm looking forward to this one far far more. I much prefer the idea of classic controls.
-
Too right, this isn't the first time a games website or mag has done some thing like this for attention.
-
I don't think they're inconsistent, I think Gamespot is very harsh to Nintendo games in general. They always seem to bash Nintendo stuff, and this is no different. But they will always go crazy over the latest graphically beautiful FPS. In my opinion Gamespot have done this to get noticed, and they've suceeded.
