Happenstance

Bought the complete series of Star Trek Picard last night on iTunes after it went on sale. Just don't trust streaming services to keep shows anymore, especially after what happened with Prodigy given Paramount Plus felt like the safe service given they own the shows.

Thinking about doing a few more upgrades to my PC at some point. I'd quite like to move on from my 3060 ti and could probably use a new CPU. Also wouldn't say no to some quieter cooling if I get a chance. I'll probably wait until the 5000 series comes out for the graphics card but I could be swayed by a 4000 if a good sale came along.

I remember once when I was still at school our Head mistress used to play a classical piece of music each week in assembly and I was one of the few kids who noticed she snuck the Voyager theme in one week.

For me an open world is exactly the type of world I would want for a Monster Hunter game.

Gonna try and finally play through Nier Automata as it was on sale this week. I played the demo when it came out and loved it but when I went to play the full game at launch it didn't grab me so I'm hoping I'll have better luck this time. Also bought the Command & Conquer bundle on Steam. Hoping as it's been re-released that it got patched to handle newer systems better. Few years ago a lot of them were just unplayable and as that's one of my favourite series I'd love to be able to start playing them again.

Spent some time with the monitor this weekend and I'm liking it. Good size (although I probably could have gone bigger, so glad I didn't go with the 27" like I originally planned) and everything is looking great on it. I haven't bothered over clocking it to 180hz yet as 165hz seems plenty smooth already. I'll be hooking it up to my work laptop tomorrow so we'll see how it does on that front. It's going to be nice to actually be able to share my screen on Teams calls without getting black bars for everyone else from the ultrawide. I may have gone a bit overboard with the purchases to go with it, buying a new headset, keyboard, webcam, desk mat and usb switcher but it's always nice to give everything a revamp every once in a while, especially if I want to be using it all a lot more. Need some new games to play now. I've downloaded a load I already owned for testing but I need something new to get me hooked. That was gonna be Dragon's Dogma 2 but I'm still not sure on it.

Tempted to pick this up today as it'd probably be a good one to play while messing about with the new monitor.

Been wanting to spend a bit more time gaming on my desktop pc so decided to take advantage of the sales going on at the moment and get a new monitor and swap out my old ultrawide. Didn't feel the need to go all the way up to 4k so this LG 1440p seemed to review well everywhere. Need to have a think what to download to test on it

Not yet. I'm in London for the next few days so I'll watch them this weekend.

Just got done watching Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One. I'm not a massive fan of the series but for the most part I think they're ok (except 1 which I think is great) but I thought this was one of the weaker ones. The threat was ill defined and left no real tension. Stakes at times felt very forced and the new bad guy from Ethan's past crested for this movie felt pointless. I swear it's not the Marvel fan in me but the only two I really enjoyed were Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff.

Nail biting match tonight. Hope Liverpool and sneak through a win.

Bought Green Wing on Apple TV yesterday as it's been years since I last watched it. I remember this show being funny but I guess I'd forgotten just how funny. Holds up so well.

Happy to see Godzilla Minus One got it's Oscar for best visual effects. Got to admit I wasn't actually expecting it to win.
