  1. Thrip, chips are a sidedish to sandwiches not an ingredient.
  2. IRRELEVANT Chips Crisps Fries (your chips) don't go on Sandwiches!
  3. Well....for the second one, it's really just a focused campaign about the Space Marines. You follow through their story and can choose to go to different places on the planet and do the mission. Multiplayer on the other hand I think is just Space Marines, Eldar, and Orkz. There is also a sort of Horde mode called The Last Stand which also allows choice of those 3. Chaos rising adds in Tyrannids and Chaos Marines for multiplayer and The Last Stand, I'm not sure if Nids and Chaos Marines are added into Last Stand if you don't have Chaos Rising, but I don't think so. The campaign is also similar except you with good/bad added into it like Mass Effect or Kotor. Retribution however has announced campaigns for Eldar, Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Chaos Space Marines, Orks and Tyranids. So if you don't mind only playing as Space Marines go for DoW2, if you want a few choices, wait for Retribution.
  4. You just have to poison the competition. Then you'll win for sure.
  5. Metro 2033 is good, but worth waiting for the price to drop. STALKER as a series is like Metro but much more open, and with exception of the latest game very very buggy. Though for the most part it's been patched fairly well. STALKER is one of my favorite games though, but it's really not for everyone. Unless you don't mind spending the little bit it costs to give one of the games a try I'd suggest waiting for a deal on the games. Same for Crysis (though it's not one of my favorites). Dawn of War 2 is fan-bloody-tastic though. It removes the tedium of base building from the RTS structure, and adds in leveling up your characters and giving them better weapons. IIRC the upcoming expansion (Retribution) brings back bases, which in the first DoW they handled bases pretty well actually. Has co-op btw. That's pretty much my 2 cents. Though, keep in mind that most of these will be unplayable until your PC arrives. Like, World of Goo I think might be the only one that might run on a netbook. Edit: Civilization isn't really like SimCity or StarCraft. It is it's own genre basically...hmmm think Settlers of Catan but with more politics resources technology and fighting your neighbors. If you haven't played Settlers of Catan....I can't think of another suitable comparison. Double Edit, There is a demo of Civ 5. Try it out when your Desktop arrives.
  6. http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/2007/08/03/team-north-america/ I'd say you could compete with those. I know the guy who did the second one (Fulgrim), he basically modifies the models until they're practically different models then does a great job painting them. That's all it takes. You could even win the Golden Demon or Slayer Sword.
  7. BC2 32 slot rush is just amazing really.
  8. Welcomes to our abode. I'm one of the few peeps from the US, it's like a foreign exchange program....except no one gets anything out of it.
  9. Well, just because a model has different CPUs doesn't mean they aren't soldered to the motherboard. Look on youtube for some videos of your laptop model being taken apart, you may be able to tell how the CPU is secured from one of those. The real problem is that laptop CPUs aren't really widely available for purchase, you'd likely have to get one off of ebay or the like. If it is soldered in, you could still probably purchase a whole motherboard of the higher spec version of your model. Of course that's never a cheap option. Also of note, the Core i3 isn't really a bad processor at all. It should be plenty snappy for you.
  10. Sucks just to live on this planet really. It's going downhill. On the other hand, the alternative is cable which is plenty fast.
  11. Fiber Optic is barely available last I checked, and where it is available it is grossly overpriced for the service delivered.
  12. And yet we still bitch about prices here being high. I like the tag, Topman. It's like wearing that sweater means you're a man...a man on top. Or something like that.
  13. I put $48 dollars into my truck today to fill it up. Approximately 16 gallons (60.5 Liters), though I have a 19 gallon tank (71.92 liters) which would be about an even $60 to fill from empty. Which, is less than what R_A put into her 35 liter tank. Bleh you're prices are high. Though I'm in a lower priced area of the country here, well sort of. Michigan is about 20 cents higher than Ohio and I'm right on the border. And I get the higher octane gas at that.
  14. Through use of New Posts, I don't know which threads are in which boards. I can't tell which posters only stay in specific areas.
  15. Considering my lack of artistic talent I'm quite pleased with this...other than the stupid red thing which was the start (along with the purple crap added for color). The perspective is also rather....crap. You people are all too depressing with your lack of colors except for red for dramatic/depressing effect. Except mjc_metroid who used some green. Oh and my name is in there actually, though completely illegible.
  16. Bleh 'Nids. Great paint jobs/color scheme though. Ever enter any comps?
  17. That Core i7 you selected is a Sandy Bridge. 8GB of RAM is quite a lot, but I really don't have the knowledge to know if that's overkill for Video Editing. You can probably get by with 4GB and 1333 for speed instead of 1600. That could certainly help save some money pounds.
  18. I wouldn't say that's quite right. One could easily stay as anonymous in General as they are here. General can be to music and films what this board is to games. I understand that not everyone wants to talk about or is even interested in those topics though, but it's not like posting little things on General is in line with the personal aspects of twitter or facebook. I just use the New Posts button (like everyone should really) and click on the threads that interest me (like everyone should). (Seriously, doing that you could still end up staying out of General completely.
  19. A 1GB version is worth the extra, but the SE version is slightly weaker. It has fewer shaders and a lower clock. In terms of gaming, it's not that much slower than the 768MB version, but it is slower. This varies from game to game and on occasion it'll even be slightly faster (these instances are when the extra memory is more useful than shading power). http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gainward/GeForce_GTX_460_SE/ http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-pny-gtx-460-3600mhz-gddr5-gpu-675mhz-shader-clock-1350mhz-336-cores-2-x-dl-dvi-i-mini-hdmi That Zotac 460SE has a incorrect description. It clearly states being 680 (which is higher than a regular 460 core clock) and it says it has the full suite of 336 cores. It's a sad thing the SE came out really. Before it did, the 460 series had much lower prices, it seems that SE drove them back upto MSRP. Edit, Yes it is possible to have 2 GPUs working in tandem. AMD/ATI have Crossfire and Nvidia calls it SLI. However while there are performance gains this setup can come with it's own set of problems. Sometimes worse performance, up to the game not running. In a case, large (at least mid tower preferably full tower) good airflow (read reviews to determine that), dust filters, and a bottom mounted PSU. Having the PSU on the bottom keeps the weight on the bottom and helps to lower the center of gravity which is generally nice. If you don't mind spending more on the GPU, certainly look into what is certain to not be a SE version of the 460. Alternatively aroudn the same performance is the AMD 6850. The two really are neck and neck and the cheapest is what I'd say go for.
  20. More or less to an extent. Things like RAM or GPU are simply slotting them into the correct slots. The CPU has a few more steps. Mainly that you'll have to apply thermal compound in an even layer for better heat conductivity to the heatsink. There is also mounting heatsink and motherboard itself. The truly hardest bit is cable management. Keeping them nice and neat looking or hidden, also having the occasional head scratch as to where a particular cable is meant to go. Have a look on youtube though, loads of good tutorial videos. Watch those and see if you can handle it yourself.
  21. Should be imminent. All the various sites have posted their reviews, which doesn't happen until the chips are about to release. In fact, they're for sale already in the US so the UK can't be far behind if they aren't already being sold. Sandy Bridge being identified as Core i5 2300-2500 and Core i7 2600. There are variations within the models some have letters, the letters mean something but I don't know what.
  22. His edit means that Intel is about to release their new Processors know by their Sandy Bridge codename. They're set to release at a good price for the amount of performance they give, which is excellent performance.
  23. That's subjective though. Personally I'd prefer a clean look where it makes sense rather than fog for the sake of fog.
  24. In the given examples...I don't think the fog was atmospheric. In a volcano....I doubt there would really be enough moisture for fog. Furthermore, in the process of creating atmosphere, in both versions of Ghoma's lair there is fog hanging on the ground. And as pointed out Kokiri Village has fog as well. Obviously the designers are still striving for atmosphere but they're more able to pick and choose the atmosphere rather than forcing it on the player in an effort to make the game run. If anything this should make it a better experience.
  25. I actually just got the Seagate Momentus XT which is a hybrid drive incorporating 4GB of read only flash in it. It intelligently determines my most used whatever and speeds those up. Mostly it just sped up my boot time by a good margin.
