  1. The real question is, how much will the PS6 cost at launch? They took the PS4 Pro off the market before the PS5 came out and I expect they'll do the same here so they will be able to offer the PS6 at a cheaper price it they can but does this £700 RRP set a new precedent? Could they charge even more for the next console?
  2. The difference in fidelity and fluidity was definitely noticeable, even watching the presentation on my phone, but £700 without a disc drive is a hard sell considering most of the target audience for this will likely be physical collectors. Would be very surprised if this gets anywhere near the ratio that PS4 Pro had versus the base PS4.
  3. I could be wrong but with the way they have been raising prices of their current models and accessories they are clearly struggling to balance the books as it is with mainstream products so I can't imagine they will sell a niche, low volume product like the Pro for a loss at launch - they will want to be making a profit on it. $600 seems like the bare minimum to me, but I think it could end up being $700 or so without a disc drive. Whatever it comes out at I think it's going to be the console with the highest launch price to date - the £1000 smartphone has become commonplace, consumers have gradually been conditioned to accept it over the last 15 years so it doesn't seem too outlandish to me that the RRP for the Pro will be significantly higher than anything that's gone before
  4. I've got a feeling it'll be even more expensive than $599
  5. I think that tweet about the manufacturer having such a big expenditure this quarter is the biggest indication that a reveal isn't too far away. As @Hero-of-Time mentioned Nintendo will want to get ahead of any leaks and once a product is in production it's hard to contain it - Sony fell foul of that again this week with the PS5 Pro design making the rounds on Twitter. I'll be pretty happy to finally see something, whenever we do get to see it, speculation and uncertainty is fun for a while but this thing has been talked about so much it's getting pretty tired. It's time to see some games!
  6. Good news but I'm usually out of the house at 3pm, couldn't they delay it a couple of hours at least? Will probably just have to catch up after the fact and try to avoid reading about any announcements. I assume the only Nintendo stuff that will show up will be games like Echoes of Wisdom and Emio: The Smiling Man, things that have already been announced or are coming out soon. Otherwise I don't really have any expectations, it's interesting that they're mashing two types of Direct together, not sure they've ever done that before
  7. the question is will the switch version come out then too - i'd imagine we'll be waiting a little longer for that one to come out
  8. The fucking Americans again. I'm so gutted for Hudson Smith, he didn't do anything wrong at all - just got pipped on the line.
  9. So Mario Kart 8 Deluxe shifted nearly another million copies, it's just never going to stop selling is it? Decent results for Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario too, and apparently Princess Peach Showtime is still selling at a steady pace. About 10 million away from DS' total lifetime sales now - could Switch nip in front this Christmas? Any sort of price cut and they would surely do it easily
  10. England brought it on themselves the way they just stopped playing as soon as they scored
  11. Fucking hell Palmer
  12. Seems like Spain will probably win this easy now, they're causing England all sorts of problems
  13. An Aston Villa player just scored the winner for England in the semi final of a major tournament - I am so fucking happy for Ollie Watkins! Love that guy so much, deserves all the praise he'll get over the next few days
  14. For fucks sake, now we have to endure another half hour of this shit
  15. Don't have much hope that England can turn it around though. What have they been doing in training? They look so clueless
  16. Yeah, it was shame Ukraine couldn't score - they were the only team trying to win that game. Austria and Spain are definitely the standout performers so far, most of the big hitters have been pretty poor really
  17. Worst group in the tournament, easily. Just dire. England will play either the Netherlands or whoever finishes 3rd in Belgium's group, can't see them getting through against any of those teams if they play the same way in the round of 16 - and with a potential QF against Italy if they do scrape through I can't see England getting to the semi finals.
  18. Why are we so shit? No urgency until stoppage time in a must win game, probably created one really good chance - just can't put in a proper performance when it matters. So frustrating to watch
  19. Feel like it's a bit too early to judge it either way. They've basically only shown off the opening section of the game - whatever there is that is new and unique will surely be revealed in the next trailer
  20. Playable Zelda and the glorious return of the Deku - it's like a dream come true.
  21. Fantastic direct, 2D Zelda lives! And she finally gets her own game, it looks fantastic. And September - only a couple of months away! There were a lot of surprises, new Mario & Luigi looks really cool and I'm glad I held off on playing the Wii version of Donkey Kong Country Returns with the HD version on the way (but we have to wait until January for it!). It moved along at such a good pace too, constant wave of announcements, I look forward to playing Turok on NSO. Although I had anticipated it potentially being here I was still quite surprised that Metroid Prime 4 finally showed up. It looks good but they obviously didn't show off too much of it, given the vague 2025 release date it has to be a cross gen release unless it comes out in Q1 or something and then the Switch 2 follows in the second half of the year. Lots to look forward to though, a very strong line up for the last year of a fantastic console
  22. Seems very short notice for such a big Direct. Looking forward to seeing what they have in store for the rest of the year - don't really have any big expectations besides the usual suspects (Prime 4 & Silksong) but it's been so long since we had an update on either of them that it's more a case of it'll be great if they're there but I won't be too downhearted if they aren't.
  23. England looked very fluid and exciting for the first half an hour or so but there wasn't much to shout about after that. Like you say plenty for them to work on before the Denmark game but at least they held on for the win. Seems like it's going to be quite a tough group, Slovenia looked brilliant in the second half - deserved to win the game really, so they'll definitely cause Serbia & England problems in their remaining group games. I had allowed myself to get excited about Scotland possibly getting out of the group in the lead up to the tournament but the performance on Friday night was so disappointing. The chances of getting anything against the host nation were always going to be low but from the first whistle Scotland didn't look up for it at all, no energy or effort, no real plan - they just let Germany run rampant. I'll still hold out faint hope of being able to finally get out of the group but the heavy defeat means they'll likely need to get 4pts to even have a hope of going through as one of the best third placed teams. Feels like goal difference is going to prove our Achilles heel yet again.
  24. I watched the show after it had finished and I don't know why I don't do that more often - was so refreshing to be able to skip the stuff that didn't interest me (which was actually quite a lot). Overall it didn't seem like that bad of a show but there weren't many standout announcements, for me it was pretty much just the new Sam Barlow game (a collaboration with Brandon Cronenberg which sounds exciting!) and Wanderstop that appealed. I'll probably watch the Xbox show live but the chances of Silksong seems to be lower, Jaso Schrier said it won't be showing up so that basically just leaves the Nintendo direct if the release really is imminent
  25. Don't have much faith in the remake really, it'll probably be a competent game but I don't think Bloober are going to be able to nail the narrative tone and atmosphere in the same way as the original. I'm glad they seem to have taken some feedback on board and have made some changes to James' face, he looked so dopey in the reveal trailer - reminding me of that old Nathan Drake PS3 meme - but he still doesn't look right to me. I'll reserve me judgement on the remake until people actually get their hands on it but it really wouldn't surprise me if the reception is very tepid. I'm more interested in the new stuff but The Short Message didn't exactly give any indication that Konami know what they're doing with the franchise - visually it was a nice looking game but the writing was so poor, lacking in any subtlety, and the gameplay went from tense to tedious pretty quickly with those repetitive chase sequences.
