The Grand Tour - Jeremy Clarkson's Amazon Prime Show
Julius replied to Julius's topic in General Chit Chat
I swear I'm going to remove autocorrect from this device. -_- At least there will be something to do come Autumn, though, I think that's what has me most excited. A lot of games aren't out until November/December, same with shows, and in terms of movies it's pretty much a blank slate for blockbusters between Suicide Squad and Doctor Strange (and then, obviously, Rogue One!). I cannot wait. I love cars, and these guys have some of the best comedic and presenting chops in the business (as divisive as they may sometimes be). -
After the AWFUL Top Gear episode that aired last night, the first since TG's return, I figured the only way to make up for it was to start talking about Jeremy Clarkson's Amazon Prime rebuttal: The Grand Tour. This show will star Jeremy Clarkson, along with his former Top Gear co-hosts and close friends, James May and Richard Hammond. The show will include JC's self proclaimed "most dangerous stunt I've ever done", the 918 vs laFerrari vs P1 duel we were all promised towards the end of their time on Top Gear (around Imola, no less), as well as being filmed in central London, the Middle East, France, and Germany so far. The Grand Tour will be aired on a weekly basis on Amazon Prime, as opposed to the typical "reveal all" basis of most original streaming shows, and is due for release in Autumn 2016. The show will consist of 12 shows in its first season, with 24 more being added over the next two years according to the contracts of the presenters, and will be presented in a giant tent. Autumn couldn't come soon enough...

Yes! That's the cartoon I grew up on!
-
Think it's gone without mention that the release date of this film has been bumped up three weeks to July 7th 2017.
-
Surprised no-one's mentioned the trailer for this beautiful looking movie. I feel an Oscar coming on.
-
Agreed. I think the main culprit is much of the Pokémon community who just assume "games conference where Nintendo is at" = "Sun and Moon info" and don't listen to the rest of the facts thrown out way. And I agree, if we're supposed to be getting something else at E3 then they've left it very late to start ramping up hype for it. Or letting us know that it exists, for that matter.
-
I genuinely don't think I've bought that many games over a period of about three months before. Have fun!
-
Wow, a busy few weeks! Congratulations! And a HIMYM reference! Woo!
-
Exactly. I mean, Star Wars is doing it with all of their trailers at the moment; they're constantly aware as to the size of the fan base.
-
I meant that I think it's great that we're getting it given to us regardless, not many businesses would do that. But I do agree. I miss UCL evenings.
-
Haven't seen anyone mention the fact that BT Sport are allowing both subscribers and non-subscribers access to watching the UEL and UCL finals live. I think it's great.

I remember them being annoyed (who wouldn't be?), but nowhere near as much as Fox who were absolutely livid. Wouldn't be surprised if they both were, though. Fox dropped out and so have Marvel, so this seems like the perfect chance for DC to step up to the plate.
-
I can't remember DC complaining too much other than releasing the Suicide Squad trailer because they wanted to give a fair reflection. I remember Fox were mad. DC has a pretty much open floor this SDC, they really need to make good use of it!
-
This reaffirms my excitement for the DCEU, though I think announcing a Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey film was done far too early. I'm just waiting for them to reveal that the October 5th 2018 slot is for The Batman at this point, a Wonder Woman trailer and another Suicide Squad trailer, the former two which I think we'll get at SDC.

Aaaaaaaand we're back. Today, Kikishima told Asahi Shimbun that Nintendo are indeed developing movies, and are in talks with partners about such a development. The CEO said that the company needs to invest in video production and wants to be successful on a global scale, and whilst discussions are believed to be in the early stages, Kimishima made it clear that he wanted films to be produced within the next five years. I know what your thinking: the Super Mario Bros movie, the universally scoffed at live action feature attempt by Nintendo in the 90's. But, perhaps you forget the 2006 success of the Animal Crossing animated adaptation in Japan? But alas, we can confirm that Nintendo plan to pursue alternatives to live-action adaptations, meaning either through animated or CGI means, and I have reason to believe the latter is true more so than the former. Kimishima also said that "we'd like to use IP that is popular with everyone. I can't say 'it'll be Mario' - just that we'll do things people are familiar with". So there we go. Anyone getting any pressing thoughts to share on the matter? My mind is buzzing with the possibility (for both success and failure!). EDIT: just had an idea; call the shared universe the Nintendo Expanded Story! you better get the reference! EDIT 2: the Nintendo answer to Pixar Shorts can be their very own Pikmin shorts

Just to clear things up. Tatsumi Kikishima: NX is not the successor to the Wii U or 3DS. Sorry, did I say clear things up? What I meant to say was have an absolutely mind f***** Nintendo Monday/Tuesday still having absolutely zero idea what their next console may or may not be, and good luck to N's competitors who are trying to figure out what they're up to (all the successing) Happy Monday guys -_-

Got my F011 Accounting exam, and blimey is revision going well! We have 30 to 35 minutes to do Q1, which is 35 to 45 marks. My attempt this morning got me a solid B, with 33/45 in 35 minutes. My attempt this afternoon? An A! 35/43! Now just need to nail the rest of the paper and every other subject :/ but happy Monday guys:)

Read about his bout of cancer, what, two days ago? So sad, gone so soon he shall be missed by the comic book world at large
-
Guess I'll just update this with what is currently essentially a rumour, so take your pinches of salt now. The NX will reportedly be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, which begins September 15th, along with the PS4 final cash grab Neo.
-
Rest in peace MadDog You will be missed

Yeah, Dan Brown books are the best! I see him as the Christopher Nolan of modern literature (as in...Nolan seems to be the best possible fit for one of his book to film adaptations, right?!). Strange too that Felicity Jones came to mind when reading the book...

Meh, looks okay. The closing shot looks like it was shot in IMAX? Could see that being their "bigger than life" movie shot/the money shot.

Great to see the hard work you guys have put in and seeing it paid off! Very, very inspirational stuff! Had to put my gym sessions on hold due to exam season, depending on the occasional run to both clear my mind and keep me fit. I cannot wait to get back in that gym. My goals are already set!

Battlefront II 2 4 2 next year, then!
