Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Thread
RedShell replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Cheers for the games yesterday @BowserBasher. I thought random select was going to give us the same character all the time, after the first couple of fights! You gonna be playing tonight too? 8pm, right @Glen-i? -

I’ll play for a bit if you wanna set up an arena. -
2 for the price of 1!: Great games everyone.

So I was just playing online when my Space Channel 5 custom stage got selected, and I was surprised to see Ulala not looking quite like she used to... What she looked like when I first made the stage is on the left, how she appeared a minute ago on the right: At first I was like, this must just be some weird glitch in this particular match, but I then went to check it out in the stage builder itself and sure enough it was still messed up! I wonder if this is due to the latest patch. None of my other stages (the one's I checked at least) seem to be affected though. Bizarre. Not to mention annoying.

You’ve clearly not seen my Smash abilities. Anyway, up to you. I’m cool with playing either. N-E Smash tomorrow evening then?
-
Game Freak aren't doing themselves any favours though by using such high poly models, it always seems to be one extreme or the other when it comes to 3D Pokémon titles: Not that they should go with super low poly Pokémon Ranch/Rumble style models for a mainline title like Sword & Shield, but there undoubtedly has to be some middle ground where performance isn't compromised and the character models still look good. Still quite a lot though, probably around 300 when you include all of the different wildlife that's in the game.

Out on June 20th:

Normally play Smash Bros. after Mario Kart League, but not sure if that's happening this week as @Glen-i (who usually organises it) isn't playing MK tonight. If there's no N-E Smash Bros. planned, I'll probably join you for some hunting.
-
Looks like I'll be getting back into Rocket League soon.
-
That or do some optimisation so they don’t actually need a more powerful console.
-
They sometimes email you in that case, yeah.
-
Awesome!! Holy shit, Knight Rider! This’ll be coming to the Switch version too, right?
-
Yeah, this looks really sluggish. And if they’re happy to show it with this level of performance, well it doesn’t bode well for the final product. Not that it matters so much considering the gameplay of Pokémon, but it would be nice to finally see Game Freak improve in that department.

You know me so well. Yep, I watched the trailer for this the other day when browsing the eShop and yeah, it went on the watch list soon after.

1. Another Nintendo/Ubisoft collaboration. Seeing as they've already worked with Mario and Star Fox I guess the next likely IP (if there really is another joint venture) would be Zelda, but because we've got the Link's Awakening remake and Cadence of Hyrule on the way as well, that might be a bit too much Zelda. If there isn't another crossover game on the way though, perhaps there will be some more DLC for the existing ones, in which case I reckon Samus and her Gunship would make for a cool addition to Starlink, and Wario would be perfect to join (and fart with) the Rabbids. 2. SNES games for Nintendo Switch Online. This is long overdue so I'd hope to see the first batch of titles become available directly after Nintendo's event. Perhaps they could also reveal the next system that will be joining the service in the future... GB, N64? I'd like to see SNES (and any future systems) get added to the existing Switch Online app, with an updated icon and menu system. Enabling online play with random players would be good too. 3. The next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate newcomer. As for predicting who it'll be, well that's a tough one. The only certainty is that it probably won't be a character I really care about. Banjo is a good shout, as is Erdrick. We shall see. As long as it's not Minecraft Steve, which would be a horrific waste of a character slot. ( @S.C.G, I really like your idea of him being a Mii costume.) I suppose we could see another new mode added to Smash too, like Home-Run Contest or Break the Targets, although I'm more than happy now that we have Stage Builder. 4. A Switch game from Toshihiro Nagoshi/Sega. He was at the Switch reveal event but as far as I know there's been nothing rumoured or announced since. Now that the Yakuza games have been heading to PC, I imagine a port of Zero or Kiwami is possible. Binary Domain too. Selfishly though (as I've played all of those already) I'd rather see a new Super Monkey Ball, an F-Zero GX port/sequel or just something entirely new. 5. New Switch hardware. If not the rumoured mini or Pro revisions then something else, like updated Joy-Cons (that don't have crappy analogue sticks) in new colours or game themed limited editions. Personally I'd love to see Nintendo announce a nice VR headset shell for the Switch, complete with a head strap and then continue to announce VR modes for existing and future titles, starting with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Anyway, It's been cool reading everyone's predictions ( @Mandalore, I'm especially liking "Nintendogs + cats + rabbits" and the "New Mode 7 F-Zero") here's to a fun E3 2019!

Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey gets Labo VR support

I imagine that is quite a faff, yeah. -

Yeah, despite being initially impressed with Zelda in VR, I found the performance is just too flaky to play it for long sessions without feeling motion sick. You check out Smash Bros. in VR yet? A much clearer and (more importantly) smoother experience than Zelda. -

I need to watch Beverly Hills Cop again now (for like the millionth time ) and I recommend everyone else do the same. What a movie. -
Thanks. Yeah, this is what I use: I imagine the Mario Maker one will be more or less the same thing.
-
A couple of pics from VR mode... Tingle makes his VR debut!: MK8DX has to be next for a VR update, surely: Come on, Nintendo! If you can get Smash working in VR, there's no way you can't do the same for Mario Kart.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas (do a barrel roll!)
RedShell replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Ended up biting at slightly over a tenner (£13) but figured if I don't play it now, I never will. Anyway, played for a few hours so far and I'm still not entirely sure what to make of it really. The Star Fox stuff is very cool indeed (that intro with Fox! ) but the Starlink stuff... not so much. And man, those have to be some of the most offensively bad character designs I've ever seen! Gameplay-wise it doesn't seem too bad though, albeit kinda grindy. Looks very nice at times too, although it's also the first game I've played on Switch to really make the system struggle! The fan certainly kicks in when playing this, thought I was on my PS4 for a while there! The model Arwing/attachments thing is cool, but TBH I only made use of it on my very first session and have stuck with playing digitally since. It just makes the controller unnecessarily heavy and awkward to use. -
So Cadence of Hyrule and My Friend Pedro are both releasing in June?! Damn, they'll probably be staying on the watch list for a while then... I'd somehow not seen that art game before (despite it having been available for some time now), looks cool though. Another one for the watch list.

Yeah, I had a quick go on the Pilotwings stage earlier, very cool. Now I want VR Pilotwings damnit! Anyway, uploaded my latest stages:

Great games yesterday, some moments... Breaking the camera: Shulk vs Pikachu: Possibly my favourite Sudden Death of all time!: Isabelle was such a genius addition to Smash. And last but not least, Little Mac's worst nightmare: -

Aren’t controls tied to usernames? No idea what else could cause them to suddenly be different when playing online.
