  1. Yeah, I've reviewed this for N-E (should be going up soon) and have to agree with @Mike, it does become very repetitive. I personally really enjoy it, but it's definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and anyone expecting the next Animal Crossing will probably be pretty disappointed.
  2. Yep, in system settings. The default is every hour, the max is 24 hours.
  3. Well, I've enabled standby mode... for now. Set it to check for stuff at 12 hour intervals. I suppose there's always a chance they might do something cool during E3.
  4. Yeah, and that kind of stuff is pretty cool. I dunno, think I've just been put off with Wii Connect 24 and SpotPass on 3DS, both of which never seemed to be worth leaving the system on standby for.
  5. It's a shame that you need to enable standby to make use of the quick start. I also never leave my Wii U on standby. That would've been amazing. Imagine being able to receive notifications from friends on the GamePad screen, even when your Wii U is off! :awesome: Yeah, it's definitely not the power consumption that stops me from using it, more the fact that there's just no point to leaving the system in standby. If Nintendo allowed for friend notifications in standby, then that would be a different story and I'd enable it straight away.
  6. I just lapped someone in the no items community. That's enough MK for me tonight I think.
  7. So I just spent an hour or so playing this online... In a NO ITEMS custom community. Now usually playing with no items in Mario Kart bores me to death, but it turns out that it's pretty damn fun in this version. MK8 is actually a fantastic pure racing game. :awesome: And it's not just a case of getting an early lead and your guaranteed to win either, there are still loads of aspects that can drastically change the flow of each race. Slipstreaming and Spin Turbos get taken to an entirely new level. And obviously there are still many course hazards that can mess you up too. One of the races I played on Rainbow Road was particularly awesome. I was knocked off the track right at the beginning and therefore in last place, but I managed to drive like a nutter and go on to win it, on the very last corner! :awesome: Exhilarating stuff I tells ya. Everyone should check it out. https://miiverse.nintendo.net/titles/14866558073268532636/14866558073301091646 It's a nice way to have a break from the insanity of worldwide, but also a great way to collect coins (you're basically guaranteed to finish each race with the full 10).
  8. It was actually full of fuck ups but never mind. Have a listen to this: What do you think of the E3 version now? The E3 rendition was always going to be a disaster because you basically have a couple of people who probably hadn't played the game much at all (not to mention have questionable rhythm ) doing a live performance. Anyone that has spent significant time with Wii Music will be able to tell you that pulling off something like that is incredibly difficult/borderline impossible. It can take hours of practice and overdubbing before you get results similar to those in the vid I posted above. People like to view Wii Music as this super simplistic piece of piss game, but the reality is it's an incredibly challenging and deep title.
  9. So yeah, my Pro Controller definitely didn't like the marathon MK8 session I've had this weekend, the left analog stick is now messed up. I started noticing that my kart would occasionally move to the side even though I wasn't trying to turn. It's absolutely fine when there's no input at all, but the slightest movement in any direction causes it to move left by itself. Tested it on the Wii U menu with the cursor too, if I push up (even slightly) the cursor starts drifting to the left. So I've now switched to the GamePad, not as comfy to hold, but at least I have precise control again. Might open up the Pro Controller soon, see if I can tinker with it.
  10. So it turns out that nobody can see or hear when you toot the horn while playing online. What in the actual hell? Making the other racers jump out of their kart is super entertaining. In other news, custom tournaments are officially useless for the League.
  11. Check this out:http://www.mariowiki.com/Mario_Kart_8#Driver_base_stats Hehehe! I'd forgotten about that. Anyway, found the green shell moment: : peace:
  12. I wasn't exactly karting at my usual standard either. It's a completely different ball game when playing this online, the hectic nature of 12 players makes it very difficult to play consistently well.
  13. Just had another awesome session playing online. This game is just as mental as MK Wii was online, perhaps even more so. The N-E League is certainly going to be interesting this time around, put it that way. And it looks like we're going to have another great player in the form of @Glen\-i.
  14. Ready to roll!: :awesome:
  15. Yeah, strange omission. It's my own recording. The slomo on the banana and Wario's weird air stunt was done on PC (forgot to use the MKTV one while capturing ) but the fastforward/slomo on the last part with my Mii was done using MKTV. The analog speed control you get in MKTV is incredible. :awesome: It is a shame it can only be used while viewing on Wii U though and not for YT uploads, but Nintendo like to keep things simple so it's not really surprising.
  16. Looks like it, yeah. I've 3 starred everything, 50cc, 100cc, 150cc and mirror, but no stars. Anyway, some of my MKTV highlights : MK8's game engine is just something else! Absolute wizardry.
  17. Hehehe. I captured all of those N-E races, will have to check out the footage. Definitely want to see a really long distance green shell hit that I somehow managed on @Sprout (Maidens) again. It doesn't look like it has finished loading in that screen though, I've noticed there can be a pretty big delay. Is the order not: worldwide top 10 closest 10 to your own time and then friend times? Also, I don't think you need to make a post whenever you upload a time/ghost data, you can just press B to do so without making a Miiverse post.
  18. Argh.. So many errors when playing online now. I thought the Wii U was failing, there shouldn't be any problems with too many players. *EDIT* Awesome games tonight, N-E. : peace: A lot of "This is my last game..." going on.
  19. I'm gonna need to get a hard drive.
  20. LOL.Can you then use all of those codes on the same Wii U though? Or would it also require setting up 3 different NNIDs?
  21. My limited edition didn't arrive from the Nintendo official UK store today either (not that I noticed ) and I've also been sent a download code! :awesome: This time tomorrow I'll have 3 copies of Mario Kart 8! Anyway, I think that was a brilliant move by the official UK store, good customer service that definitely get's them some brownie points with me.
  22. Yep. Sounds a lot like me.
  23. Yeah, this has basically been me all day: Won't go into details right now because it'll just annoy those that are still waiting for their copy, but let's just say this game is indeed a masterpiece. :awesome:
  24. Dispatched!
