  1. So I decided to get into this game now, rather than hold off until after Splatoon, and I'm seriously glad I did. Been having an absolute blast! So fun, and so damn adorable. The presentation is something else, I actually can't get my head around just how good the graphics are. Obviously this kind of visual style has been done several times in the past, but never as well as this. I mean it looks real! Kirby, the enemies, the environments, they all look like genuine handmade plasticine models. And yet they haven't just taken the easy route of digitizing real-life objects and then displaying them as 2D sprites, pretty much everything on screen appears to be rendered in 3D in real-time, as Kirby casts shadows and also deforms the terrain on contact. The attention to detail is astonishing, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful games ever made. And those diary paintings... Cuteness overload: You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse However, this makes playing it exclusively on the GamePad (and you really are forced to play it on the GamePad if you want to play it well) all the more frustrating. I was worried about this before getting the game, and sure enough the compression does damage the picture quality quite a bit. Kirby does indeed have fuzzy feet when viewed on the GamePad screen. You get used to it, but I just wish there was an alternative control option (other than playing as a Waddle Dee) that allowed you to play the game while looking at the TV screen. Wii Remote pointer controls for example, could have worked pretty well for this. Anyway, I got through the first world last night, and a bit of the second (Tank Kirby is hilarious! ) would've progressed further if it weren't for Challenge Mode, which is seriously addictive. :awesome: Did all of the challenges that were available to me, but looks like I need to collect some more gold medals in Story Mode now to unlock additional challenges. But yeah, super impressed with this game, in both presentation and gameplay.
  2. Woohoo! MK8 soundtrack! Really great how they're bringing back some of the older rewards + new stuff. Club Nintendo is going out in style.
  3. Nope, I also think this should've been released ages ago. Even when it was first revealed I was like "shut up and take my coins!" It blatantly hasn't just been a strategic delay for the anniversary though, I mean they have been adding quite a bit of content. But what with this new style (or new to Nintendo at least) of releasing games and then adding to them later via patches, I feel that they could've definitely released this earlier, and then just added extra stuff later on.
  4. Man, I'd already forgotten about that. Ah. Well that's an easy fix, just make it so that you always win at least once when actually paying for credits.
  5. What! We're talking about the same thing here, right? That claw crane game with the pink rabbit.
  6. I hope there won't be any!Really don't want to have to buy a N3DS. Bet they go and reveal WarioWare: D.I.Y. 2 as a N3DS exclusive now. Speaking of 3DS, I hope we'll finally be getting Collectible Badge Center in Europe.
  7. Nice idea, don't see it working out somehow though...
  8. Yep, awesome stuff. Surprising how the game is costing them more over there though! Not really been following prices recently, but aren't we usually the ones paying more for games?
  9. Don't think Microsoft were ever a good match for Rare (and possibly the reason why members of Playtonic left in the first place) so no, not really.I know which era of Rare I'd rather have been a part of, put it that way.
  10. Well, your needs. Not so much mine, but yeah. Indeed, don't reckon it'd be that straightforward in this particular situation though. Those guys seem to have a lot of love and respect for Nintendo, I imagine they'd actually love to work for them again.
  11. Don't think you got my point before then (despite disagreeing with it ), I'm saying Nintendo themselves shouldn't be trying to create those kind of games. Publishing them, fine. Funding them, fine. Getting 3rd parties (wherever they're from) to create them, fine. But as far as development is concerned, Nintendo should continue to do what they've always done and what they do best.
  12. Err... not one of those games was developed by Nintendo.
  13. Yeah, they shouldn't even attempt to go there I reckon. Keep trying (although perhaps a bit harder ) to get 3rd party developers to deliver that type of content, sure. But Nintendo themselves absolutely shouldn't change their established style.Bizarre, colourful and weird Nintendo for life! Or at least my life.
  14. Pretty sure it'll be a HDMI issue. Had the same thing happen with mine, switched to a different HDMI cable and it was sorted.
  15. Dammit, another update that isn't the MK8 CD! It says it features music in the description, so yeah.Is that theme new/exclusive to the Stars Catalogue though? Can't find it in the theme vids on Nintendo's JP youtube channel. I actually prefer themes to have background music, the Cat Mario one is my theme of choice. Love the look and music of the Hanafuda theme though, so will probably grab that one eventually.
  16. Clean version of the single player trailer theme!: Sensational. :awesome: Toru Minegishi has seriously delivered with this soundtrack.
  17. Managed to nab myself 2 platinum trophies this weekend, Driveclub and Guacamelee! Driveclub is definitely the easiest platinum I've ever got, there isn't really any difficulty involved at all, it's just a case of it taking ages due to all the leveling up needed. Guacamelee on the other hand is almost certainly the toughest (or at least tied with Resogun) man, they sure do make you work for that one. Hard mode can be absolutely brutal at times! Such a rewarding game to master though. :awesome:
  18. Not really, no. Plus, Squenix takes longer to type, and I be lazy.
  19. Oh yeah! I forgot about your love for the Final Fantasy franchise. Anyway, 'tis great that they're not going to clash now, not that I was bothered. Will still check out the SE conference for Just Cause 3 though. :awesome:
  20. Interesting... So amiibo that are sold out in the amiibo section of the Nintendo Store, suddenly aren't sold out if you buy 'em with Code Name S.T.E.A.M., ey?
  21. Indeed. However, if you're careful it is possible to do it without leaving any signs that it has been opened. It's impossible to tell that I opened mine, because I used a pen knife to remove all of the little stickers that cover up the tri-wing screw compartments, and then made sure to keep them clean so they stuck back perfectly afterwards.
  22. I said 12 months or so. Anyway, I'm just saying had there been less gaps (and especially no gargantuan 3+ month gaps ) in the release schedule, the Wii U would've been in much better shape right now.
  23. I only made the 1 vote too (before the first post was edited) so went for my overall fave, Mario Kart 8. :awesome: Otherwise I would've also voted for Smash Bros. and Mario 3D World. But yeah, all of those titles are great. The Wii U really does have an amazing collection of games now, it's just a shame it took 2 and a half years to reach this point. Imagine if all the games in the poll had been available within the first 12 months or so, would have been a very different story I reckon...
