All valid points, and some of them irritate me also. However then there's this point which personally nullify all the rest: 1. It's really, really... really fun. That's right, it's fun. Trust me, even with all the stuff that annoys you about Splatoon, I'd eat my GamePad if you (or any gamer for that matter) didn't have some fun while playing it. The fact that it's also dirt cheap at launch (£25 quid) is another great reason to overlook the shortcomings and just enjoy Splatoon for what it is! : peace:

Yeah, and I totally get that, but I mean you still had a laugh during your Splatoon marathon, no?Surely you wouldn't be playing so much otherwise. Anyway, not that I don't appreciate your contribution, Hero-of-Time, but you're clearly not the target audience for this thread. Think you might be expecting just a wee bit too much there. It's not so easy to be groundbreaking and generation defining these days, especially when you're pretty much single-handedly responsible for all of the groundbreaking and generation defining stuff that has gone before.

Yeah, and keep in mind the bubble has the drawback of severely reducing your traction. I shared it with some teamates the other day on the mall stage, and two of them got pushed off the stage as a result! I was like "whoops, my bad!" Tried it out last night when I switched to the roller, it's pretty good. Getting splats is a bit tricky though, and it doesn't last very long. The fact you're invincible and still covering turf is cool though.

I've noticed some people that used to be pretty big Nintendo fans have seemingly stopped playing Nintendo games since they started gaming on other platforms, and more perplexing is how some don't even appear to acknowledge the merits of any of Nintendo's recent titles. Obviously the software drought situation on both 3DS and Wii U has often been atrocious, and as a result many have looked to other places for their gaming fix during these times (myself included) but I just don't get how doing so could then make you not want to check out the great 3DS/Wii U games when they do eventually come out. If anything it's made me anticipate and enjoy Nintendo's games even more! The fact that some old-school Nintendo fans are choosing to miss out on titles like MK8, Smash Bros. and now Splatoon, boggles my mind. I suppose with MK and Smash it could just be a case of it feeling like, been there done that, but Splatoon is fresh as you like... seriously, it's super Goddamn fresh. So yeah, just curious as to what reasons people have for losing their interest in Nintendo specifically upon gaming elsewhere, is it just a case of not enough time for everything, changing tastes, or something else?

Interesting.I'm guessing it'll be lessons (or just a subject image) based on whatever character you scan. Hopefully all/most of the amiibo will be compatible. What about Pikachu though... place your bets now! Based on pretty much every other amiibo compatible game, I'm gonna say no.

Cool little direct, would of been nice if there was a Euro version with mini Shibata, but oh well. Really looking forward to the Splatoon update.

There's a point in the Plaza where you can clip through a wall (near the giant amiibo box) managed to pull it off earlier and went for a wander behind the scenes: You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. That Splatoon fan art thread over at Neogaf is amazing: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=837761 Love this one: Kawaii! Cool to see a new game providing so much inspiration.

Yes! So glad it's doing well. Been listening to the soundtrack this morning, it continues to amaze me. Dat credits track: Goosbumps every time. Love the traditional Japanese vibe going on in there too, expertly done. Actually, the way the entire soundtrack merges so many different styles together is so damn impressive, and it complements the variety of Splatoon's gameplay perfectly. :awesome: It's a shame there aren't many tracks in the game, but I honestly don't think I'll ever get bored of hearing the ones we got, there's just soooooo much going on in each one. Even after a marathon weekend of Splatoon, I've not had enough of these tunes. Splatoon should absolutely dominate any audio awards this year, not just for the music, but its sound effects too. There's insane attention to detail present in the SFX, I particularly love the analog nature of the sound as you swim through ink depending on your movement speed and the different levels of splash depending on the height you dive from as a squid. Stuff like that is completely unnecessary, but the fact that they put it in shows just how much effort the developers went to. It's also amazing how the continual sound of the Splattershot doesn't get annoying. I very much doubt I could handle listening to hours and hours of machine gunfire but somehow they've created a similar sound that's easy on the ears. I look forward to more aural treats with the upcoming download content, and hopefully a sequel at some point. : peace:

Ooo... Pre-E3 direct for Europe too?
-
Sometimes logic is annoying though. Quite a lot of the time actually, and certainly in this case.
-
Yeah, I hear ya. It's Chibi-Robo though so it will be awesome and we'll still get it.* *localisation permitting of course.

This really confused me when it appeared in the direct, just seemed way too soon for another 3DS MH game, but then I remembered the Japanese got MH4 in 2013. @Hero\-of\-Time, that other game they showed (the cute one with all the Feylnes ) is that a port of that PSP or Vita game you mentioned a while back in the MH4 thread?
-
Great amiibo collection pics everyone. Oh man, that Chibi-Robo amiibo... Gonna be tough to resist that one if it ever makes it over here.

Both of those new 3DS systems are lovely, the simpler XL style and the retro cartoon vibe of the N3DS cover plates. This screenshot pleases me, I just hope they also use those "NEW" icons for the next mainline AC.Having to rely on memory, the shop catalog or a spreadsheet to know which items you already own in the previous games has always annoyed the hell out of me.
-
Yeah, this game provides so many comedy moments. Speaking of comedy, I still haven't got bored of following unaware roller users (undoing all their hard work in the process) and then eventually splatting them.

Beat Splatoon's single player last night. Very short but incredibly sweet game. And the final boss battle is just something else! Completely off the charts bonkers. Witness the awesomeness of the final moments:
-
So I was looking back through the pages you collect during single player...
-
Finished the Single Player last night. @Mr\-Paul and @Hero\-of\-Time, you guys were right about the final boss and staff credits, I absolutely adored both of those. I was pretty surprised by...

Don't mind me, my head is full of ink at the moment.
-
You can use the gyro to aim (the default setting but it can be switched off) there's a live map that shows the ink coverage of each team, you can tap on a teammate to instantly Super Jump to their location (some of the special attacks also use the touch screen). It's all cool stuff, but like I said before, I find the pace of the game makes most of it unusable anyway. Even so, I definitely wouldn't recommend skipping on Splatoon just because of needing to use the GamePad, it's far too awesome a game for that.
-
Use the orange Miiverse postbox in the Plaza for the post to be linked to your inkling. Think it's random, I saw mine: You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse I know it is for a good reason, but personally I'm still a bit annoyed there's not even the option to just use the Pro. I simply can't use the GamePad screen during a match (the game moves too quickly for an old inkling like me ) and I very rarely use the super jump. I'd gladly give up both of those aspects to use the much more comfortable Pro Controller instead.
-
Yeah, Miiverse graffiti is awesome. :awesome: Love it. Not many games get me to stay up this late these days but Splatoon is something very special indeed.
-
Great games just now guys. : peace: Noticed something weird on the last one though... I was shooting blanks for a while! Yeah, none of my ink was painting anything, then after a few seconds it all suddenly appeared. Lag I guess, hopefully it'll be a rare occurrence. Anyway, looooving this game. It's jaw droppingly gorgeous and just so much fun to play!
-
Nicely done, @Hero\-of\-Time. I'm looking forward to seeing these credits now. Yeah, in one of our games together I super jumped to you when you'd just respawned at the base. It looked like I was going to shoot forwards into the map, but then I suddenly went backwards. This game is too fast and crazy to make proper use of the GamePad stuff, for me anyway.
