Pokemon Red, Blue & Yellow (3DS Virtual Console)
Glen-i replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Missingno is quite a tiny issue compared to the actual problems the game is littered with. Worth a read, there are some hilarious and unfair glitches going on here. A few of my favourites: - Focus Energy actually lowering your critical rate instead of raising it. - Using Substitute when you have exactly 25% HP causes you to kill yourself. - Blizzard's ridiculously unfair 90% accuracy. - Everything about the Rage move. - I abuse that Infinite Fly/Dig glitch as much as possible, that will teach you for spamming Confuse Ray. - Also, spamming Wrap and Fire Spin, it never gets unfunny. Unless someone uses it against you, then you want to just punch them in the face! -
Whaaaat!? People overreacting about amiibo usage before any actual concrete details are revealed? I, for one, am shocked. SHOCKED! Look at my shocked face! I mean, how will you guys cope with only a thousand rupees!? Ahem... Of course, we don't know anything about what data will get transferred over to Zelda Wii U yet. So maybe the outrage will be well founded in the end.

For contexts sake, are you playing on an old 3DS or a new 3DS? EDIT: Checked out the comparison videos above. It might as well be a New 3DS exclusive. The old one is horrifically jarring. New 3DS version holds up very nicely though. Very impressive, despite the higher case of grunts popping in.

Pokemon Red, Blue & Yellow (3DS Virtual Console)

Replace Mew with "Special event furniture" and you've answered your own question. If people actually need a restore point to finish Pokemon R/B/Y, I would laugh in their face. You can literally save anywhere. Even during the Elite Four! The game is not going to suffer for the lack of it. -
If it's anything like Bravely Default's secret costumes, they'll override the usual costumes. You equip those on the menu. Bravely Default had a special Onion Knight costume for Tiz you could buy from Norende once you completely restored it. If you equipped it, Tiz would wear the Onion Knight outfit, no matter what job he was.

Dinosaurs weren't the issue with Adventures. Starfox itself was. OK, loads of other stuff as well, but still... I bet it'd be a more well received game if Starfox had nothing to do with it. Then again, I'm the kind of person who thinks Adventures and Command are the best of the series. Yeah, I don't like traditional Starfox games.

You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse Yes, I played through Shovel Knight. Again. Why so soon? That would be my 4th amiibo. This amiibo was a bit controversial, because one of the things that it unlocks is a local co-op mode in the WiiU version. You know, never mind the fact that Yacht Club were nice enough to make a completely new character with a new story for absolutely nothing along with 2 more coming sometime in the future! No! This is unacceptable! How dare they!? HOW DARE THEY!? Oh well, I play the 3DS version anyway, so I can't even do co-op on that. That's what @Dcubed's WiiU version is for! So apart from the "disgusting" co-op mode, what else does this amiibo provide? Well, it gives you 5 new challenge stages (10 in the WiiU version) revolving around the new custom abilities. Oh right, and custom abilities! That GIF shows only a handful of the new goodies that the amiibo provide you with. Modifications to existing relics (That anchor slam), flashy new charge attacks (That horizontal air attack green does), special moves previously unavailable (Including a Kirby style sprint) over 50 different colour palettes, unnecessary gestures (Playing dead during cutscenes is funny!) and most importantly... Flashy, acrobatic and useless visual effects! You unlock all this neat stuff by leveling up your amiibo, treasure collected now functions as experience points, because you can't get relics by purchasing them when playing as Custom Knight. Each level you go up gets you a new colour palette and a random upgrade. By the end of this runthrough, my Custom Knight had some truly broken upgrades. And because these are saved to the amiibo, it's possible to start a new game with a fully pimped out Custom Knight, it's truly a speedrunners dream! So yeah, I bought the amiibo because it's a cool figurine, but this is easily the best use I've seen of them. The idea of using this figure over at DCubed's house so I can quickly set the customisations I like is very cool. So, screw the haters! This amiibo is awesome! And Shovel Knight just keeps on getting better!

Yep, sounds like you can't go wrong for £3.98. 50 tracks is good value, even if they're shorter than the retail rhythm games. Might have to jump in as well.

Enjoyed the Game & Watch Gallery review, @S\.C\.G. You and I clearly have similar tastes because I also think that modern Octopus is the star of the show. Going by the Miiverse community though, it seems it was mostly overlooked, which is a shame because 20 G&W games with 11 of them getting remasters is ridiculous value for money!

Pokemon Red, Blue & Yellow (3DS Virtual Console)
Glen-i replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
But I thought you were a fan of games that are completely bonkers... -
As much as I dislike GAME (And believe me, that's a lot), the one DCubed and I usually visit tend to just give us the codes, no questions asked. Anyway, this has now been confirmed to be happening in Europe, no specifics about distribution method, but it is happening.
-
Whether this rumour turns out to be legit or not, this is honestly one of the best ideas I've ever heard with regards to Diddy Kong Racing. Nintendo have got a smorgasbord of characters that only feature in eShop games, it'd be a great way to advertise their existence. You know, outside of Smash assist trophies/trophies. It'd get me super intrigued that's for sure.

Interesting news this. http://www.pokemon20.com/en-us/mythical.html Basically, over the course of 2016, Mythical Pokemon will be distributed once a month to X/Y and OR/AS. Basically these are Pokemon that are generally not available through normal methods unless you happened to catch one of those events. (Mew and the like) This is the perfect opportunity to be a nutter like me and complete your Pokedex legitimately. It's only confirmed for America at the moment, but I'll be very surprised if Europe doesn't end up following suit. Anyway, here's the scheduling. Brackets indicate the method of distribution.

Those comments underneath each screenshot... Oh, you!

Pokemon Red, Blue & Yellow (3DS Virtual Console)
Glen-i replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
We're getting this... Yep, NoA win this round. Purely for the fact it's a new 3DS and it's boss face plates. Only thing Europe has got going for it is the option to have the colour version of Yellow. (IE The best version of the game) EDIT: Seems like they're re-releasing the Red Nendoroid as well (In America, at least) I actually want this a million times more than the 3DS/2DS bundles. Pokemon Company are already starting to go ham for it's 20th anniversary -
But I'm absolutely terrible when it comes to designing something! Not that kind of artist, you know? Honestly, I'd just take the GC controller, add a ZL and ZR button, and be done with it.

As long as people are sure of the difference between what they think the NX will be and what they think the NX needs to be to sell well, I don't see why it'd be a bad idea.
-
I fail to see what's so insanely wrong with what he said that it warrants that kind of reaction.
-
Yeah, I have to agree with this. Apart from the lack of an invite feature/party play (Or whatever the hell everyone calls it), I can't think of much more I would like from it. I can take or leave voice chat, good if it's there, but not bothered one bit if it's not. Does the online infrastructure have problems? Sure, but to me, they're minor niggles at worst. I think a few people overexaggerate how bad it is.
-
Oh no, not this again... I wonder how many of those people actually owned an N64... I bet it's not very many. Then again, it's Miiverse. The same place that someone genuinely believed that I didn't know that Bravely Default came out after the SNES.
-
That's what they said about Hawlucha... Look at how that turned out. I believe they're going out of their way to avoid bunching up too many of the same type. Machamp is cooler anyway. We are missing Bug and Dragon types...
-
Gets revealed on my birthday, huh? Hmmm... Suspicious... And the only not-Groudon Pokemon on that list Serebii posted that I actually use on my actual team is Hydreigon. And there's not a single playable Gen 5 Pokemon yet... I would totally be up for playable Hydreigon. If it's another Gen 1 Pokemon, someone's getting Dynamic Punched.

Well, time for me to get started on 2016. Uhhh... What did I stumble upon? I finished off Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for the "I can't remember what number" time. Mario RPG is the first Mario RPG, as you'd expect from the name. It came out in America for the SNES in 1996, but us Europeans didn't get it until it came out on the Wii VC in 2008. The story starts just like you'd expect it to really... So what else is new? But just when Mario goes all Bruce Lee on Bowser's scaly behind... Oh wait, maybe it's not quite the same then... You must have JavaScript enabled on your device to view Miiverse posts that have been embedded in a website. View post in Miiverse A giant sword decides to do it's best impression of the Wind Waker ending and stabs Bowser's castle from above. Mario, Bowser and Peach (Who is still called Toadstool, because this was before Mario 64 came out) are sent flying off who knows where by this, and so starts Mario's quest to find Peach, ignore Bowser, because who cares about him? And find out just what is going on! The gameplay plays out like a typical RPG, you go around exploring locations and fighting enemies you accidentally bump into. This game is probably the most famous example of the "Timed Hit" I mean, it's the trope namer for this mechanic on TV Tropes. (No! Don't go to that site! You'll be there all day!) Basically, when you perform a move in battle, pressing a button at the right time will result in more damage. See? You just press "A" on the first swing The same goes for when you're being attacked, pressing A at the right time can reduce the amount of damage you take. (Doesn't work for magical attacks though) It's a simple mechanic, but it makes battles more engaging. The difficulty is just right, for a beginner. You're not gonna find much of a challenge from this game, but it makes the perfect "My first RPG" Seriously, I'm not sure you can do much better than this game for that role. The story, while infinitely more fleshed out than most Mario platformers, is very silly. This was the game that cemented Bowser's "Dumb brute" personality that would be used in every other Mario RPG to come. (Sticker Star isn't an RPG, so technically, I'm right. The localisation is top notch, there are a lot of funny moments that are just ripe for Miiverse.
