That Boomerang throw actually worked twice!? Wow! Spectacular! I'm so proud of myself! Even if karma hit me like a ton of bricks in Ribbon Road. Righto! Here's the table after the first night. Very early days, of course. Averages will fluctuate all over the place over the next few weeks. Of note is @BowserBasher and I both getting a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place tonight. Creepy. What's even creepier is that @viceview51 and @Nintendo Fan have the exact same score. How'd you manage that? So, all warmed up with racing? No? Cool! Let's get you up to speed on Battle Mode then! Next League Night: 1st Feburary 8pm Room 1: BowserBasher is host Glen-i BowserBasher viceview51 Pretty simple schedule here. Because there's only 8 courses in Battle Mode, I won't enforce the "Don't choose the same track twice" rule, obviously. But let's try and do each stage at least once, right? Sign up Now! -
Playing through Crystal has made me remember that a lot of the Gen 2 Pokemon are really not very good at battling in Gen 2. Whether it be utterly awful movesets (Chikorita), completely awful stats, (Any Pokemon that got an evolution in Gen 4) or even a type that just doesn't suit it's stat spread. That last one is a strange one. Mostly because of coolest starter Totodile. It's a Water Pokemon with high attack, makes perfect sense as a concept. A Crocodile Pokemon would be expected to focus on attack and be Water type. Shame Water moves are classified as Special. Still, it learns Bite. Oh wait, hang on. That's a Special move in Gen 2. Because reasons. Gen 4 really did fix a lot of stupid problems with some much needed evolutions and the glorious Physical/Special split. I started my journey by doing the most important thing, throwing away my bed. I'll be damned if I'm gonna let Mum use it when I'm gone. I got Joey's number, than immediately deleted him, the thought of him trying to phone me, but not getting through makes me very happy. I beat up Falkner's hacked Lv 9 Pidgeotto, which was a breeze compared to the HG/SS version, and some other stuff. Anyway, I'm up to Goldenrod City, here's my team. Nickname in brackets. Croconaw (Dalbert) - Lv 25 Yeah, that's it. I'm probably gonna trade 3 of my team from Yellow (Charizard, Marowak and Hypno), might as well. I definitely remember the huge grind needed if you want to battle Red, that should cut down on things. I plan on getting a Scyther from the Bug Catching Contest on Saturday, so I have to wait for that. And then round it up with a Tyranitar, which is available only after getting all 16 badges... Bugger. Gen 2 might have a pretty small region, but the speed of everything makes it a million times more playable than Gen 1, which is like watching paint dry. @Shorty, did you manage to get Mystery Gift working? I'm gonna try it once @Ugh first aid gets to Goldenrod City.

That Theme name is nothing short of outstanding!

@BowserBasher, did you happen to get a screenshot of the first GP results? I kinda spaced on it. -

Next League Night: Tonight 8pm Room 1: @BowserBasher is host @Glen-i @BowserBasher @viceview51 @S.C.G @RedShell @Clownferret Still time to Sign Up! League hasn't even started yet, and we're already seeing underhanded tactics. Good job! -
Oh my daze! Lyn is total ridic! I want to get her Support Rank with Ryoma's to A just to see how insane she is with Astra. I totally see what @Ike was on about with her GBA-esque animation. Very cool!

I hate it when games misspell my name... And accuse me of eating people. I've just reached Chapter 4 myself. I like how Chain Attacks net you extra EXP and Loot if you kill an enemy with it. And you get more when you go way too overkill with it. Latest Rare Blade I got was Aurora, who is probably the best design I've seen so far. On account of her dressing reasonably modestly. And the Polar Bear.
-
Personally, the longer it stays free to play games online, the better.
-
I had the exact same issue. Maybe having it all on one screen will help me keep track of all the chaos better.
-
Well, I'm gonna have to ask stupid questions now. Have you actually unlocked Mystery Gift yet? You need to talk to a certain girl in the Goldenrod Store. (Obviously, on both versions of the game) The only other problem I can think of is that you're not lining up the IR connectors correctly. That's all I can think of.
-
Maybe the game just doesn't interest people? I know I'm not keen on it.
-
Hmm... @Dcubed? Does the old 3DS have a IR connector? I can't remember.
-
I unlocked Ryoma's passive skill "Astra" yesterday. And now I need this on absolutely every character. Holy nards, it's awesome! I finished the first History Map. (Barring a couple of S Ranks and the post clear LV 60 stages, ain't ready for those quite yet) Moving on to the FE: Fates map now.

The mounted units sacrifice precision control for higher movement speed, playing as them takes a whole deal of practice to hit your mark. I think it's a nice balance. I promoted Cordelia and now she can use healing staffs, which makes her immensely useful for rushing to another character and healing them. Oboro, Niles, Owain and Navarre being part of the paid DLC is really cheeky though. They're already in the damn game. HW did this with Cia and her crew, but they were part of a free update. Owain especially upsets me because he's utterly hilarious and suits the silly, over-the-top nature of this game perfectly. I can't wait to play as him, even if he turns out to be a clone. Anyway, I've started History Mode now. My characters are around the LV 30 mark. It's very slick. I assume Lyn and Celica are in the later ones? I hope at least one of them is unique.
-
I finished Story Mode just recently. Bought the Season Pass. Quick impressions. Performance Mode is buttery smooth! I don't think I could handle going back to 30 FPS Hyrule Warriors, so I hope this feature appears in the Switch version of that. The Fire Emblem Mechanics add a whole smorgasbord of cool nuances that make the game a lot more tactical than Hyrule. Ordering units around, exploiting the weapon triangle, the different movement speeds of classes. It all makes for a great gameplay experience that improves on Hyrule in almost every way. The remixes are awesome, total butt rock Fire Emblem is something I can't help but smile at. My favourite characters to play as so far are Ryoma and his silly, but fluid Lightning Blade, Tiki and her totally nicked gimmick from Young Link and surprise bundle of awesome, Lissa, who is nothing short of psychotically hilarious. That move makes me smile every time! That said, the general quality of the other characters range from average to pretty pointless. Lianna, Hinoka, Caeda, Leo, Takumi and Lucina add absolutely nothing to the diversity going on and just feel like a waste of time, due to them having the exact same moveset as someone else. There's 3 Pegasus Knights, and they all play exactly the same. Meanwhile, other traditional Lance users are either locked behind DLC (Oboro and Azura, both foot soldiers, surprisingly not clones of each other) or just flat out don't exist (Not a single playable Knight in the game so far, Kellam got robbed) The first DLC pack looks to be quite solid, 3 History maps seem to be quite significant. Oboro is pretty decent and Azura is great, utilising watery attacks like Ruto in Hyrule. But she's not utterly garbage. Niles however, is a clone of Sakura and Takumi, which is disappointing. Although his dialogue shout-outs are great and full of silly double entendres! ("Don't worry, I'm right behind you" he said in a very suggestive tone)

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe League 2018 (Final results now in)

Right, I need to get a few things out of the way first. I'm gonna address a suggestion made by @DazzeL I would like to point out that it really doesn't matter if you can't make a night, as long as you turn up for half of them, your score will count in the final results. The total score is determined by your average score. Total points have no effect on your placing. However, I'm nothing, if not open. If you would like me to split the year up into shorter mini leagues (I'm thinking 3 leagues of 4 months), let me know. If you want the league to be one long league, tell me. Let's get some voting going! I'd also like to confirm if @BowserBasher is reprising his role as regular host. With that out of the way... First League Night: 25th January 8pm We'll ease into the year with a good old fashioned end of month Player's Choice night. Don't wanna dive straight into the crazy just yet. Sign up now! -
Thanks to @RedShell for the new logo. It's the Mario Kart League 2018! Signing up Basics Each League night will generally be on a Thursday at 8PM (GMT) unless otherwise stated. Please post a comment declaring yourself IN! to sign up for that week. There is an "Always in" list for regular racers who don't want to post every week. Please tag me (Glen-i) if you want to be on this list. If you have declared yourself IN! and can't make a night, please inform me on this thread before the league night starts. Frequent no-showers will be penalized. League Nights There are generally two types of league nights. Player's Choice nights allow racers to freely choose what vehicle they use and what tracks are played on. Theme Nights dictate a specific vehicle setup and track order that must be followed. Each night consists of 3 GP's, making for a total of 12 races. Please allow 45 to 60 minutes of your time to take part. Points System After each GP, the points you earned will be recalculated by me using this formula. (Total points divided by Number of Players multiplied by 12) Your grand total is divided by the number of GP's you've taken part in, giving you an average score that will determine your placing in the league. This means that even if you miss a night, your score will not be affected, but your placing may change depending on changes in other people's scores. In GP's that utilise Battle Mode, the points you earn are determined by your place, not the amount of points you got. If your total attendance is below 50% at the end of the year, your score will be discounted from the final results. Rules Theme Nights must be followed. However, if you don't have the right vehicle part, let me know ASAP. I will try to find an alternative part that has the same stats. During Player's Choice nights, please do not choose a track that has already been raced on that night, it's only polite. Do not rage quit, if I start to notice people "disconnecting" regularly, you may be penalized. If you do disconnect, rejoin the room as soon as possible. You will earn one point for that race. But I'd be willing to discount that GP's score if it would result in lowering your average score. But don't take the mick. Be aware that discounting a GP will affect your total attendance. Remember to let me or the host know if you can't make the night as soon as you can. Have fun! And feel free to show off your hilarious (Or skillful) moments with the Switch video capture! Theme Night suggestions If you have a suggestion for a Theme Night, please send me a PM with the details and I'll try to implement it. Sign Up Now!

The problem I'm seeing is that this fourth character is initially another attacker like Rex. You could argue that it's the multiple weapons that make up the variety. But they still fall into only 3 categories. All that said, I'm still enjoying the game. Hearing Gramps call Rex a "Cheeky Sod" is a stark reminder of why I love British localisations.
-
That's strange. I know that in Xenoblade Wii, the initial Attack/Tank/Healer setup ended up being one of the worst setups you could choose. I've just got the fourth character and I'm hoping that there's more than 3 classes. The original had a magic based attacker, an evasive fighter, a status inflicted and a Jack of all trades as well as the attacker, healer, and defender.

This is gonna be a recurring thing, isn't it? People are gonna overlook that there's an actual software card included all the time.

OK, total WhatsApp noob here. (I finally have an android phone now) How do I actually get into the prestigious N-E WhatsApp group? I've got the app and set my profile picture. (The most important thing) But don't know what to do next. Does @nekunando have to invite or what?
