That's a good comparison, but it's not quite that bad in OT. Getting to the final boss is a piece of cake. It just takes a while.

Hey, I'm not totally opposed to playing through Red/Blue. Gen 1 is fine (if a bit antiquated), it's Gen 1 pandering in the modern games and blind nostalgia for them that gives me the fury of a thousand suns. I assume you mean the 3DS versions? Because I have Yellow and I assume that would be just as good. Anyway, my two cents would vote for SNES/Mega Drive/Game Boy.

I'm right there with you. Got to the second form and then realised I forgot to put Saving Grace on my party. I couldn't cope with the barrage of attacks with only 4,500 max HP. Yep, totally dumb. If you're gonna have a boss that's almost 4 times as hard as anything else you've thought, at least make it reasonable to get back in there and give it another shot when you fail. Even FF6 managed to get that right. I'm getting horrible flashbacks to how much I didn't enjoy the final boss of FF8.

Some people get really, REALLY upset about losing, especially if they do so repeatedly. I've seen it a few times at the community centre, especially during 8-player Smashes, where it gets very chaotic and it can take a while for auto handicap to start levelling the playfield. Before I started bringing consoles there, I always had the mindset that getting upset over that kind of thing was stupid. But now after witnessing it happen, I kinda sympathise a bit. Of course, it's not a good way of dealing with it. So whenever someone starts getting frustrated, I make sure that I help them practice some of the more advanced techniques at the end of the day. It helps them perform better and teaches them that a bit of practice can do wonders. Shame you could never really convey that kind of message online.

Yes, apparently it works in the Japanese version so it should be fine here. Worth noting that for some silly reason, not all of the gear gotten from DLC quests can be used with this. Also worth noting that it's an unlockable feature, you have to get to G-Rank first and then do some other stuff I'm not entirely sure of.

The only way I'm ever gonna want to play this is if Team Four Star finish their mod to replace all the voices with their Dragonball Z abridged versions. Can you tell I'm not really a massive fan? Game looks beautiful though, hard to believe it's actually 3D.

Come on, despite the whole "Don't expect many newcomers" line, they were never gonna settle on just 3. They'll probably be at least a few more characters. Sakurai is a fan of unlockable characters that he wants to keep secret until the game is out and someone finds it just by playing. Well, ideally. Dataminers ruin that these days.

I second the praise for Child of Light. Fun, not too long RPG with lovely visuals and beautiful music.

For what it's worth, there's only 8 characters available at the start of the game. You unlock the rest. So character choice paralysis shouldn't be an issue to anyone who buys it. Because I'm a complete saddo, I've compiled a list of what stages are missing from Ultimate. EDIT: I also declare K.Rool to have the best render in this game. Sassy point!

Physically shaking here. 5 characters at once! I don't care if three of them are echoes, I'm hyped! I like the Final Smash meter mode. It's like PS all-stars, but in an actual good game. Also cheekily nicked the mid match stage swap to make sure it really does have nothing. And Stamina mode not being relegated to Special Smash is a welcome change. But holy crap, the sheer amount of stuff is mind-boggling! We're at 71 characters now! Insane!

Did someone call a nerd? Mega Charizard X is the edgy black one. It's Fire/Dragon and specialises in Physical attacks. It's ability powers up moves that make direct contact. (Scratch and the like) Mega Charizard Y is the not edgy orange one. It's Fire/Flying and specialises in Special attacks. It's ability summons strong sunlight when it comes into battle. X is for show-offs, Y is for people who want Charizard to actually be good.

Gotta say it's an interesting strategy to leak stuff yourself before someone else does it... Thanks for the heads up there, @Hero-of-Time Guess I'm not going on any other site for around 8 hours now. I don't know where I saw it, but someone, somewhere had the idea of Urban Champion using a moveset that consists solely of him fighting his opponent from the game. You'd do damage by getting other players caught in the middle of that ruckus. It's pretty inspired. @ArtMediocre in regards to your trophy question... Well, the tagline is "Everyone is here" So yeah, about 1,500 sounds right. Totally reasonable.
