Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade of Light (4th December 2020)
Glen-i replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I'm sorry, what? You mean there's actually a realistic chance that J-Pop, acting and Microwave cooking shows ended up being necessary to defeat an evil Fire Emblem dragon? I'm so on board with this theory, and I don't even know what the argument is! -
Actually, Earthbound is an interesting case, Nintendo of America went real hard on the PR for that game because they thought it needed all the help it could get. Ironically enough, they did so in such a way that it would end up making the game more unappealing and it ended up flopping. The "This game stinks" campaign was such a weird way of advertising Earthbound. If you played the game, you'd soon realise that it all revolved around just 1 boss. And it's not even that important of a boss. NoA were desperate to paint the game as some kind of gross-out comedy, and it's not really that kind of game. It's more absurdist in it's humour. I can't imagine Shigesato Itoi was happy about that. I knew you'd do that. I wrote that post knowing full well that "HoT is gonna come in here and show off an achievement" Also, kinda proving my point there with only 16% of people bothering with that. All according to plan!

Simply put, it was the era of strategy guides. They were good money back then, so a lot of RPG's had basically impossible hidden goodies that necessitated their use. FFVI was definitely on the lower end of the spectrum. Apart from the one obvious example (which is bad and wrong and bad), all of the intricately hidden stuff are items and equipment that you could easily find later on in the game. So it wasn't too bad. But as the PS1 era progressed, Final Fantasy started taking more and more liberties with it's secrets, hiding a lot more things that you'd never find again. It kinda all came to a ridiculous plateau with FFX and it's insane requirements for endgame equipment. No-one's figuring out that you need to dodge 200 lightning bolts in a row, in fact, no-one's doing that even if they know beforehand! Luckily, with the rise of the internet, these silly secrets are much less common these days.

*Glares angrily at Final Fantasy IX*

See, I think it's so bad that it wraps around to being funny! LIIIIGHT FLAAARE!
-
You're damn right! It's the new running around in circles! Anyway, I'm very good at this game!
-
I first heard Nier's soundtrack via Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call. It was only 2 songs, but I can say this. Shadowlord is a complete and utter masterpiece!

Apple have thrown this back at Epic by pointing out that itch.io hosts games that have sexually explicit content and pointing out that because Epic themselves don't allow those kind of games, they're being hypocritical. Apple's lawyer referred to them as "Unspeakable games that can't even be shown in court" Meanwhile, at itch.io.

The music provided half the comedy of that fight. It was a real shame when 3 Ultimate had that quest, but didn't have the music. That quest is still the absolute pinnacle of silly Monster Hunter!

Highly recommend turning up the sound. This might just be my favourite thing in Rise! It's gonna be damn hard to resist doing this to anyone who gets paralysed.

Safe to say that Nintendo 1st Party titles on Epic store is the equivalent of Goku getting into Smash then?
-
I have played a bit of it, got to the fourth character. ("This is for you!") and kinda got distracted by other stuff. I thought it was really slow.

If it does get re-released in some way, @Dcubed can't moan at me for putting off the Gamecube versions! I want it to happen just so I can rub my accidental rightness in his face. Man, they'd need to speed up the gameplay though. It is glacial in it's pace!

I make it a point of pride to accompany each item with a stupid letter. And don't worry about it, I would've sold all the paintings if no-one wanted them anyway. At least you'll get use out of them. -
Fair enough. I forgive you. This time Man, that Smash 4 UI is nowhere near as slick as Ultimate's.

And the winner of worst Sportsmanship goes to @Sprout! I expect better from you.

Did not notice the stage going down at Lumiose City there...

OK, I'm gonna hard reset my Switch and see if that fixes matters. I suggest everyone does the same. EDIT: Room's open again.

Tbh I find collectors weirder than someone wearing hideous shoes. Buying a load of stuff you don't intend to use, that just sits on a shelf until you die... I'll have you know, all 6 of my amiibos see some use!

Heading online in 15 minutes. Hopefully, more people show up then last week.

The problem with that is that to the uninitiated, Rabbids will be perceived as the rip-off. I found out that Rosalina has the same problem with Elsa when I was bringing Smash Ultimate to the Community Centre.

SMASH! Yeah, that. 8pm tonight, Stock format.

Geez, were the loading times that bad in World?
