I haven't watched that movie in years, and I can still hear that Gilbert Gottfried delivery as if I'm watching it now! That said, I think it's an interesting discussion to see how people feel about utilising glitches and where their line would lie. Take other famously glitchy N64 game, Ocarina of Time. There's a little bug where if you perform a jump slash, then perform a crouch stab (Holding R, then pressing B while not Z targeting), the crouch stab does double the damage than it should. I use that trick loads, I think it makes the game more fun. I also walk backwards across Hyrule Field all the time, because it's much quicker. Does that count as a glitch? While I love watching all sorts of speedruns, I normally don't like actually using big glitches that involve going "out of bounds", because I don't find it engaging. I enjoy watching it though, because it involves a lot of high level execution and memorisation to pull off. (They tend to look silly too, which is a bonus.) Hell, what about that infamous exploit in Zelda 2's final boss? Who here hasn't used that!?

Not sure I agree with this line of thinking. First of all, loads of games have a separated "No Major Glitches" category for speedrun records, precisely for those speedrunners who want to play a game as intended. Even in a famously glitchy game like Super Mario 64. Secondly, you're giving the impression that a speedrun that involves glitches doesn't require consistent high level gameplay? In a lot of cases, these kind of glitches are harder to pull off then playing the game in a more standard way. Not always, but most of the time. I played through Super Mario 64 on NSO when it dropped, but because I played it on 3D All-Stars quite recently, I didn't want to go through all of it, so I went for a 16 star run, which involves pulling off a few glitches to skip some star doors. It was a fun way to play through the game in a way I don't normally try. It kept things fresh.

Kirby 64 is the last time we saw the more easy going, Dream Land style before the series went all in on the Sakurai style action game. There's no doubting that it was the right decision, though. Modern Kirby is so liked because of that style. Those emulation softlocks are really bad though. N64 NSO might have had it's fair share of emulation issues, but you could always at least play through each game!

Is Resident Evil 4 without the silly even Resident Evil 4? If I don't get a completely out of nowhere laser grid acrobatic sequence, then what's even the point? But yeah, HD development these days pretty much kills the viability of having all the set pieces the original had. Things are gonna have to be cut.

You're a stronger dude then me then. I need me some free-for-all madness in a Smash session.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes (24th June)
Glen-i replied to darksnowman's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I get the feeling that some more important characters like Byleth and the house leaders might have a class and moveset all of their own that no-one else can use. It'd be weird if just any schmo could use that whippy sword, y'know? -
That's fair. It would just be us two anyway seeing as @BowserBasher can't make it. I mean 1v1 is fine and all, but two hours of nothing but would be a bit much.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack: N64 & SEGA Mega Drive (& GBA!!)
Glen-i replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Well, that's definitely getting patched before Pokémon Snap drops. That's certainly not a thing in the original game. -
That one in the orange has a really stupid face.

Not my fault your crummy outward drifting kart had to release the drift early and boost right into my shell. It totally was my fault, I know the shortcomings of outward drift so well.
-
Got a good laugh at @viceview51 and I trying to pass the blue shell off on each other only for @S.C.G to blitz past us both and take the blue shell immediately after doing so.
-
Oh, @Ike, you are so dead for that Water Park finish!
-
OK, first, that's for Sword/Shield. And second, you can get a Shiny Shellder from that, so it's not completely pointless.
-
Well, see... Now, this is awkward, but... I guess I didn't get rid of it after all? When I'm surprising myself with my Pokémon insanity, then things have gotten real bad! Don't have a Venusaur from the same game though...

Player's Choice at 8pm tonight.

The bare minimum would be a DS/DSLite, a 3DS with Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Transporter, and a mobile phone capable of running Home (or a Switch). Then you'd need FireRed/LeafGreen, a Gen 4 game, a Gen 5 game, and a mainline 3DS game (Gen 6 or 7, doesn't matter). That's it. Honestly, I can easily do it, but I don't care too much for the challenges. I quickly replaced my Gen 3 Charizard on the 3DS once I got into competitive battling. The irony is that it's way easier to get a Gen 1 Charizard on to Home, but that's not a challenge.

Got in now. Home still doesn't cross reference your in-game Pokédex with the Home ones, so I have to once again get a whole bunch of pre-evolutions to fill up the regional ones... It also means that I can't register Kubfu to the Isle of Armour Dex because you only get one and I've already evolved mine! Very annoying... Some of the new challenges are bonkers though! For example, one is to register a Charizard. Huh? That's super easy? Oh right! Forgot to mention that it has to have been caught in FireRed/LeafGreen!

Lucky you. No such luck for me though.

Home update is rolling out in a staggered process to reduce server strain, should be widely available tomorrow. Some odd restrictions on particular Pokémon have surfaced though (Outside of the "Pokémon doesn't exist in a game" one) Blatantly stealing info from @Serebii again. - Gigantamax Pikachu, Eevee, and Meowth cannot be transferred to BD/SP or Legends: Arceus. - Nincada cannot be moved from Home to BD/SP. - Spinda cannot be moved between Home and BD/SP at all. The event Gigantamax Pokémon seem to be similar to how you couldn't move the likes of Spiky Eared Pichu or Costume Pikachu to future games, but the Nincada and Spinda thing seem like a bug. Because that's just weird. Anyway, back to Legends: Arceus. The first part of that anime special is available on Pokémon's YouTube channel.

Definitely not. It was easy for the majority of users there to shout about SNK, because they had no interest in their games. Nintendo is a whole different matter. You'll still get some people there singing the same tune, but they'll be people who had no interest in Ninty's output in the first place. Era likes to pretend they're above console warring, but it's still there, just disguised as other issues.

Sound reasoning, but the base attack and defense only goes up to 500. Don't be like me and find yourself with maxed out defense on one character and having to spend an abnormal amount of time getting attack up to scratch when everyone else is done. You'd be better off in the long run choosing food that your party members like, because if you're lucky, you'll get a drop rate boost. Not to mention the random stat boosts you get from them as well. It's just more efficient when none of your stats are maxed out.
-
The National Dex is still going to be there in Home, so if you're like me and just want to keep that up, it'll still be there. That said, I'm missing a few Pokémon/regional variants from Arceus, so it's not something I can actually claim right now.

I'm aiming for 100% on this and am at 95% at the moment. Pretty much agree with everything you said, @Hero-of-Time. Stylish and less confusing then the DS game. I wouldn't say the battles are 1:1 with the DS game though. We already know what happens when you try and cram that into a single screen concept. It sucks. So I'm very thankful NEO tweaks it for the jump to 3D and the lack of a touch screen. Because while I did enjoy the DS game, the battles were too hard for me to keep up with. I know this was in the original, but I love all the different ways you can tweak the drop rate in this game. Lowering your level (appreciate that level only affects your HP, so fights don't get spongey), chaining fights, wearing certain threads, boosting your base drop rate with tasty bonuses. It makes all but the hardest of fights fairly reasonable to get the corresponding pin. That said, I am starting to hit a bit of a wall with fighting the last few post-credits bosses on Ultimate Difficulty to grab those pins. They are no joke. Getting one shotted is very possible. I'm still wearing sub-optimal threads though to get those Metabo Boosts and I'm ignoring some threads that improve drop rates because they stop you getting EXP/PP. But when I get everyone's stats maxed out and reach level 100, we'll see if it's more manageable. It's wack this game didn't do well.

While he certainly warrants a massive amount of respect, it says an awful lot that it has been the entirety of my lifetime since this last happened. I can only hope that this opens up the gates for more players, but given the sheer toxicity of the football culture, I'm not gonna get my hopes up. Anyway, those are my thoughts.
