Well, a serious thread about the issue would actually be good. NO big insults. No arguements without evidence. No closed mindedness and certainly no anti semitism/anti arab/musilim posts please. Please please please read over your posts to make sure you don't upset anyone. My beliefs - Peace is the way forward. Lots of people are to blame, some more than others. I'll give more info later but right now I need to head off to see Indiana Jones 4...

Gonna try get there for 7am, leaving Brighton at 5:45. This actually comes with benefits. Waking up early will mean I'll sleep well the next night before my exam, and it means I'll spend the whole time whilst in the que revising.

I have my ears peirced in THREE different places from when I was 15. I am well rock and roll. Had to lie about my age in the hairdressers and everything.

I've been distracted from GTA all day when I was meant to revise all day. Bugger.

Mmm... But all companies work by imagining niches in the market. Coffee companies imagine the typical Starbucks and Nescafe buyer and market their products towards them. Games companies have realised they can put people in boxes and it's working for them. Someone who buys brain training and wii fit is more likely to buy nintendogs than call of duty. I own all four of these games, so I span the boxes, (as do most people who like games enough to join a gaming forum) but I prefer call of duty to all those games put together. Nintendo knows who I am, and it's because of people like me that they haven't given up on zelda and mario, but also know people like my girlfriend, who's doesn't like to be in the same room as someone playing call of duty. Really just think of your typical football fan- they're unlikely to, but could be female, they're unlikely to, but could be a hippie. So that's why you see adverts for playstations, beer and credit cards on the football pitches, not perfume and folk music albums. If companies didn't think like this they wouldn't make half as much money. As for 'hardcore gamer' as a definition. I think it's a useful phrase in that it describes people who like games a lot more than the average joe. Just like film buff and food lover. It doesn't make you a better person than anyone else though.

Why the fuck did they sack him!? Chelsea lost because Terry slipped because it was raining so heavily. Is that really his fault? Also Chelsea came second in the Premiership! Ridiculous.

Why thank you! The party was actually a bit shit. I ended up going to the on-campus pub and being laughed at for wearing a dangly earring and eyeshadow.

Well, I'm not sure it's necessary, it's just that as I'm paying 20£ to get to London (from Brighton) I want to be 100% sure I don't return empty handed. You only have to catch a bus I assume?
-
Haha, if only! I'm 95% going to go to the signing. I'm paying £20 (which I don't really have because I'm a poor student) for the train ticket. I'm going to revise in the que because my first exam is the next day. And I'm not actually going to buy the game from HMV, though I'm giving them the fiver for the sleeve/preorder. I called HMV and the guy on the phone was a bit of a knob. He said he has no idea what time I should arrive and no idea how many people are likely to turn up. I'm going to get there as early as possible. If the sleves start getting handed out at 9, what time do you guys reckon I should aim to get there for? I reckon 6am is a safe bet. This is such a horrifically bad idea, but it has to happen. This means MGS is costing me £105 in total too (LE, signing + train ticket).

My girlfriend, who's 20 has liked High School Musical for about a year. She made me watch it about a year ago and, of course, I hated it. I've just put up her obsession with the film all this time. However about a week ago I was made to watch it again and now I can't stop thinking about it. For some reason this film is captivating in so many ways. It's sheer shitness makes it incredible, and it's unintentionally utterly ridiculous humour makes it hallarious. I can't get over how good it is and I can't stop humming all the songs, which are so shit but so catchy. It's amazing! We even bought High School Musical: Sing It for the PS2. Does anyone else have this problem? Are there any other teenagers-adults that have a weird obsession with this film? I'm 20 too, incidentally.

I recommend not going to the skatepark for a couple of weeks. Although they probably wouldn't shoot/stab you, it isn't worth the risk at all. After a couple of weeks they'll be bored of trying to start fights with you guys and leave you alone. I really feel for you though, what complete wankers.

I'm one of the four people! Can't wait! Bioshock is one of the reasons the 360 almost swayed me away from buying a PS3.

I saw those ads on youtube and people in the comments section were saying they were fictional propaganda adverts for PMCs. Apparently there's two American, one British, Russian and French PMC. Raven Sword = American Piuvre Armement = French Werewolf = American Otselotovaya Khvatka = Russian Praying Mantis = British The only explicitly propaganday one is the Werewolf one - 'Can you stand to look at yourself in the mirror? Do you like what you see in your window? Will your children thank you for the sacrifices you're about to make?' - Chillingly similar to, 'Your country needs you' and the like. This game is going to be incredible. Perhaps Snake will be able to watch TV a la GTA4 and see these adverts?

http://kotaku.com/5010747/kojima-signing-mgs-4-sleeves-at-london-hmv Ahhh! That's the day before my first exam. Shitniggles. I'd pay the £5 for the preorder then not actually buy it when it gets released and put it somewhere on my LE. Buggerfuck. I want to give Hideo Kojima a hug. Edit: I could revise on the train to London. May not be such a bad idea... Second edit: Ah Daft already posted this. Sorry. Third edit... : -HMV site I think I'll skip it then. If there are only £300 sleeves I want to, but can't spend my entire day queing before my first exam.

Well when I spoke to a guy from Play on the phone he said it's 99% that it'll come on launch day. I hope he was right.

Singstar PS3 - Incredible Wii Fit - Useful Twilight Princess - Hugely underrated High School Musical Sing It - Why? Metal Gear Solid 2 - Best

While I feel sorry for you Chuck, I can't help but be pleased if this means the limited edition is actually in super limited supply. It means I can ebay mine for a bugger load, or be very proud of it. I wish I'd ordered two. I previously assumed it'd be like the GTA special edition and be the only version of the game that isn't sold out.

Over summer while I'm off from Uni I'm planning on getting a summer job. If I manage to find a full time job I'll have a fair bit of money, and should have a spare £200 somewhere. Considering that I already own a PS3, do you guys think it'll be worth buying a 360 too? My somewhat limited knowledge of the console hasn't swayed me that it's really worth getting both, so a list of exclusives would be good perhaps? Thanks. Convince me please Perhaps my money would be better put towards a small HDTV?

90 minutes is a bit long, but I'll definately watch and enjoy it from start to finish. The ability to pause cut scenes is so great. The amount of times I was bursting for a wee while a huge cut scene was rolling... But the cut scenes are going to be FMV?

Mmm... yes but most non-games don't interest me as much as traditional ones. I'm not too 'hardcore' to play Nintendogs, but I'm not really interested in it, sort of making me fit the category. I do agree, who cares, but you can't deny the existence of niches in the market and in the culture of gaming. I'm certainly not a better person than a non-hardcore gamer, but I am a hardcore gamer.

I'm stressing hard. I have an anthropology kinship exam, and an elective on a course called 'Culture, Race and Ethnicity', which is an elective. Two weeks to go eeeeek! Metal Gear 4 comes out 6 days after my last exam though :D

Peace signs come as a natural reaction to being anywhere near a camera to the Japanese. 'Strange thing is they make such bloody good cameras.'
