I'm quite worried about having investing in a ps3 incase it flops, but it seems most games are multiplatform now. I wish they'd just make one single platform... arg... Nationalize the games industry anyone?

What's everyones' experience of pre-ordering on the internet? Are there any websites that you can guarantee that you'll get the game the day it comes out? I want to pre-order Metal Gear 4. I preordered Phantom Hourglass and Warioware on amazon using supersaver delivery, Warioware came on the day of release but Phantom Hourglass took a week or so after release!

Actually, I'm having a rather funny dillemma over this- When I get my PS3 my dad's going to want to have a quick go and see what my girlfriend's 'wasted' £250 on. As an arab (he's Syrian) he probably won't be too impressed by COD4 with its Iraqis vs Americans storyline (I've only played multiplayer on the 360, is the storyline all current affairs based?). On the other hand, Damascus (capital of Syria, the place where he grew up) in Assassin's Creed would impress him muchly I'm sure! The other game I'm getting is Singstar, which he won't be at all interested in.

I wish... hah! I'm a student, so if I get a job over the summer I may pick up a 360 too... one day... I'm not sure I'd pay for live though.

Haven't any of you guys encountered people who say they think the ps1/2/3 controller is the ultimate, classic controller? I swear every semi-casual gamer (not this modern wii-casual type) slated the original Gamecube and Xbox controllers simply because they didn't understand that new controllers take a little while to get used to. I reckon that's why sony didn't update their controller, and to be fair, the controller works great with most games. I still don't know which is where with X and Y on the GC controller mind... I have to wait two weeks till my birthday untill my stupid girlfriend lets me open my PS3. I'm so excited, I think I may do the N64 kid thing when I open it. Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty 4? I'll get both eventually... mmm...

How does downloading demos work? Do most games have demos for them on the PSN? You don't have to pay do you?

Just found out that my girlfriend's getting me a PS3 for my birthday! Holy shit! She's so great! She's bought it second hand off ebay (40gb). Says 'immaculate condition' and 'only played once', 'unwanted xmas gift'. Do I have any reason to worry about it being bashed about in the post? I'm a bit of a console snob, I'm worried it'll have some scratches... Nothing beats keeping a console nice and clean. Also, is the 40gb version shiny? Or is it black/dull like the 20gb? I'm praying it's shiny... If it arrives and has a problem with it, paypal refund you right? I have very little ebay experience (I bought a pair of shoes once!). There aren't any scams on ebay around buying consoles are there? Oh and does the PS3 have a kinda master reset thing? I'd hate the thought that it'll have someone else's user name on it or something. I'm a bit of a console snob, personally I'd pay extra money to get it first hand if I bought it myself, but I'm seriously not complaining. Wow what a wonderful gift. She got ripped off a little I reckon, unless it's in PERFECT condition, because she played £250 including P&P. Gonna get singstar because I'm having a birthday party on my birthday. Karaoke should be fun! I'm well keen on getting Assassin's Creed because it has Damascus on it, which is a place i've visited on a holiday and loved very much. Metal Gear 4 is the single reason I'm getting a ps3 instead of a 360 too, but there're a few months 'till that yet. Can't wait to start playing some online games with people from this forum! Nobody has answers for me?

I can tell you that the PSP links to the internet through a wireless conection in a similar way to the Wii and DS. It connects to the PStore through a USB. I'm not sure about the other questions though. Oh and buy Locoroco

The Metal Gear series is my favourite ever ever ever ever ever. It has the best stories of any games, and the best gameplay. I own - Metal Gear ps1 Metal Gear the Twin Snakes Metal Gear 2 and the Substance version Metal Gear 3 and the Subsistence version (includes MSX/NES oldies) Metal Gear Portable Ops Metal Gear Digital Graphic Novel Metal Gear Ac!d (just wanted to show off) Oh and I bought loads of metal gear figures while I was in Tokyo. Just need this, PO+, and Ac!d 2 to be the happiest person in the world. This game literately has to be the best game of all time or I'll be dissapointed. If it really is the last game in the series it better do it justice. Somehow I think this game won't meet my stupidly high expectations and I'll be disapointed.

Are most PS2s going for only around 50£ now though? I belive the PS2 was by far the best console of the last generation, so lack of backwards compatibility would be a problem for PS3 prospective buyers who don't own a PS2, but for me, it's not much of a problem. Anyone who doesn't own a PS2 should buy one, btw. I have quite an important question- how likely is the PS3 to flop? Is there a possibility that it'll do a Dreamcast? Also, how likely is it that it'll do a Gamecube (i.e. semi flop and not recieve any of the goods that the PS2 and Xbox were getting later on in their lives)? I really wish there was only one platform. I hate capitalism haha.

Having to install games really shouldn't be seen as a problem. I uninstall games I'm not playing on the PC just to make it run faster. And if you can keep the save files when you uninstall then I the only fault I can think of is it wastes 5 minutes of your life installing it.

Ahhh! This gets harder and harder! I'm pulled towards Metal Gear like a magnet, but the 360 does really appear to be better in general. A consideration - is it best to get a PS3 because most AAA 360 games are out/will come out on the PC? I have a PS2 and I'm very happy I didn't get an Xbox instead as I have Halo 1+2, and Star Wars Knights on PC. Considering that Halo 3 will most likely come out the PC, Bioshock is already out...

Can you guys help me make a list of the exclusive AAA games on each platform? Xbox 360- Gears of War Bioshock Halo 3 Banjo Kazooie? Can we say the Orange Box because it's PS3 counterpart isn't as good? PS3- Metal Gear Gran Turismo Tekken 6 I have to say, if the list ends there then I'd rather have MGS4 than Gears of War, Bioshock and Halo put together.

Which is better PS3 or Xbox360? I think there needs to be a definitive thread in which we attempt to unearth a true answer, or at least, a series of individual-relevant answers to this question. I don't want to waste £300 on the wrong console, and I reckon an awful lot of people are thinking the same thing. So, which is better right now? Which is best for each genre? Which is going to be better next year and the year after that? Which one will come out on top? Will Sony's online service ever match the 360s? My predicament, for example, is that considering that I recently bought a PSP, I'm now leaning towards the PS3 for the connectivity. I assume there will be people in other various predicaments.

A bit off topic, but on a more general note about charities with no particular reference to this one, why have more than one charity for the same thing? Doesn't this charity just do what the poppy appeal does? Doesn't Oxfam do the same thing as Unicef? Wouldn't they be much more efficient if they all joined together? Similarly, why doesn't this charity just become a wing of a huge umbrella charity organisation? The umbrella could have a wing for those affected by war, whether they be soliders or civilians and regardless of which side they were on. The only reason I can fault my idea is that people may not like the amount this umbrella charity spend on say, starvation, if they considerd those affected by violence or those who're homeless to be a worser situation... but in return, I'd say that the charity should be able to prioritize accordingly if it's a truly philanthropic organisation. And if they have researchers in the right places, they'd know who needs it more than others.

You know, he's kinda got a point- The game could achieve more if it was on the PS3 or Xbox360, as motion control don't really add anything to adventure games, and the game could be bigger on the PS3. However, the game could easily achieve the same standard as the PS3 version in every way bar graphically. I want to see every single game released on all consoles. I hate companies and competition. I'm interested, did coming out for everyone who's gay completely change your life? My friend came out a few years ago (he was 17 at the time) and he says it's changed his life. Before he came out he was seriously depressed, lonely, and didn't think he could be himself. Now he's probably the most confident, happy person I know. Has anyone else had a similar experience. Oh and on the topic a few pages back, I'm of the opinion that brainwashing people to get along is a good thing. I'd rather everyone belived that homosexuality was okay, even if without a poster campaign they wouldn't, than people were hurt, insulted, outcast, and bullied. Put it this way, we're probably hugely influenced by a lot of imposed opinions that give this country stability. Imagine if racism was still socially acceptable, then lots of people of other races would be very unhappy right now. To overblow my point a bit, look at the ethnic conflicts in Ruwanda and Yugoslavia, these probably wouldn't have happened if the people had years of poster campaigns and brainwashing to get along! I'd rather have my opinion controlled by someone else than have another human being have any sort of burden in their life. Oh and another question, mainly to the homosexuals, but anyone else's opinion is welcome- Do you belive being gay is a product of nature or nurture? Is there a certain thing in your brain which hetros don't have, or is it a product of your environment? I seem to remember science prooving it to be natural, but science can make mistakes...
