Oh crap, I just selected 'Mark partition as active' on the external HDD to see what it would do but it seems I can't undo it... I don't know if that matters or not though. -

Hello! I have a Seagate 250gb external HDD and I want to use it with my PS3. I don't really understand what any of this means, but it's currently in NTFS format which is not recognised by the ps3, I need to reformat it to FAT32. How do I do this and what are the implications of doing this? I've read (and not reaaaally understood...) that NTFS is better than FAT32. Could I format it again afterwards back to NTFS again if I wanted? Thanks!

Thanks! But I'm afraid I have another problem- on the Format Removable Disk thingy it only says: 'Capacity 232 GB' 'File System - NTFS' 'Allocation Unit Size - 4096 Bytes' 'Volume Label - Removable Disk' I can't find anything that says anything about FAT32, what should I do?

I have a little problem- How do I get my external hard drive to work with my ps3? I have death note in divx format and I wanna watch it on my telly... The ps3 won't recognise the HDD, but it recognises my PSP as an external storage device. I tried renaming folders to 'MUSIC' 'VIDEO' 'PHOTO' etc, but that wouldn't work. It's a seagate harddrive, if that helps...

Point very very much seen... So I guess the question now is, does it matter? Although adverts like such don't make me feel objectified, if it got worse I could imagine many men would feel insecure. Some must already, even if that's just from seeing Brad Pitt and the like parading on TV and in magazines... But would this appear naturally in a social setting because you're always going to know someone better looking than you...

I'd argue that when men appear as objects in adverts it's normally a joke, whereas with women it's serious and it's degrading. Haha! She's not a feminist, she's just insane! Feminism, by definition is just a belief in equality of the sexes. For me, it's more about social science theories exploring how women are treated differently, for others, it's about political activism and trying to change things.

I'm a feminist (I'm also a man). I'm a feminist because I belive men and women are completely equal and I consider it to be a somewhat passive element of my life which I support, but don't obsess over. I read a fair bit of feminist literature as part of my anthropology course and I'm particularly interesed in in the different ways in which men and women are considered different and 'unequal' all around the world. I'm also interested in unearthing 'hidden opressions' in our own society, an example of one of these may be make-up, women as objects in magazines and adverts, and unequal pay, etc. Of late, I've realised everyone seems to hate feminists. Apparently they're annoying. I don't see it, at least, I don't see how they are more annoying than the next person who states an opinion you don't agree with, but it seems feminists go beyond this level of annoyingness. Discuss pls?

Wow! More people know me than I expected. I always considered that no one actually knew me on this forum and anything I said would be seen as another anonymousish poster giving an opinion. This thread has taken off exactly how I wanted it to! I'm interested to know what people know about each other, maybe people should make lists of what people should know if they know them fairly well through this forum. I suppose people may know about me- I LOVE Metal Gear I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed I have a Wii, PSP, DS and PS3 I go to University and study anthropology I like cats I'm into political science I'm very left wing (communist... ish) Let's hear what you reckon people should know about you if they 'know' you!

Forums are funny places... There are some forum members that I recognise, and many that I don't. I don't know any of you personally, but I think most people will know the following 'N-Europe Forum Aficionados' - King_V Retro_Link Diemetrix Stocka Rezourceman Haden Stefkov Ashley Jordan mcj_metroid But most of you probably don't recognise me, amongst many others, each time I make a post. My point being, some people become 'popular', or better known on the forum compared to my dwindling self and many other 'settled in' and 'regulars'. So who's seen me post and knows anything about me? Do you know which consoles I own? Which kind of topics I post in most? But that's not only the point of this thread, this thread is also for other mere 'settled ins' and 'regulars', post on here asking if anyone knows you to find out. (Nothing personal if you did/didn't appear on the list, I just went through the 'post your purchases' topic and took the people I recognised off the first few pages)

No way!? Well the mosque in Damascus is a funny shape, but they almost got it right. It should be a bit taller and the grounds inside should be about 4 times the size. The city has changed considerably in the 'old town' part. The famous streets around the mosque have changed since the time too. The palace isn't Azem palace then, I think actually, Azem palace was built much more recently, but it's still very interesting to see the similarities in architecture. If you like the scenery in assassin's creed and you're thinking of booking a holiday anytime soon then you won't be dissapointed!

Has anyone else been treating Assassin's Creed as a sight seeing game? In Damascus the huge mosque is almost definately based on the Omayyad Mosque- Recognise the pattern on the front anyone? The in game replica isn't perfect, but I'm very impressed. And the peaceful palace where the rich fat man starts shooting on the crowd seems heavily influenced by Azem Palace- p.s. go on holiday to Syria/Damascus, it's awesome. And quite a more famous landmark in Jerusalem, although I've never been, it was instantly recognisable- I was wondering, is the place where the executions take place meant to be the actual wailing wall? This game is so freaking awesome, not so much as an action game, but as an experience.

Arg! I'm sick of 'social gaming'. I like locking myself away with a console for an hour a day! That's why I got a PS3... I'm LOVING Assassin's Creed! It looks awesome on my crappy old TV, I can't imagine how awesome it'd be on an HD. My favourite thing to do so far is go sight seeing!

Thanks! I've signed up a new US account, but I can't find the God of War demo... It's deffinately the US store because there's a Harvey Birdman demo which isn't on the UK one... Ah crap, and now I just tried to download the Harvey Birdman demo and... 'The connected PSP system is activated with a different account If you perform this operation the certificate for this account will become invalid Do you wish to continue?' Have you had the same problem? Will this make my UK account invalid? Edit: I found the God of War demo, but should I download it, considering the above?

Having to buy an ethernet cable is preferable to subscribing for Xbox Live though right? And then you'd have to buy a wireless adaptor. I dunno, I've had very little experience with Xbox live, but I'm impressed with the demos on the PStore. The only game I want a demo of that they don't have is COD4. The demos are taking about an hour each to download on wireless now... I'm going to buy an ethernet cable for sure.

Really? Oh shit... Yeah I'm using wireless, but it says signal strength is 100%! Urm... on the connection settings status screen it says the following (which I don't understand)- -UPnP - Not Availible -NAT Type - Type 2 -Proxy Server - Do Not Use -MTU - Automatic -Channel - 13 Does that tell anyone anything useful? My PSP, Wii, PC all work very fast... My Wii downloads, for example, are fast... hmm... Help!

I got my PS3! Oh wow! It's so awesome! Been playing some Assassin's Creed- incredible! I'm downloading a Burnout demo, it's 40% and it's been downloading for about an hour, should it be taking this long? My internet connection is fairly fast...

Thanks guys! Nah I don't have a 360. This makes my wishlist- Uncharted, COD4, Assassin's Creed, Singstar, Metal Gear 4, Haze, GTA 4, Resi. I'm on the fence for- Devil May Cry, Ratchet and Clank and Resistance FOM. Oh and is Metal Gear confirmed for 4/4/08? I'd give up my own mother for that game.l

Patapon got 9.2 on IGN. Maybe I wasn't impressed by the demo because it was set too early on in the game? The levels were very linear... hmm...

Ah, that's the delivery service's fault, not amazon's. My external harddrive was left under my rubbish bin by some idiot of a postman! Actually, amazon replace anything that gets lost in the post. When Phantom Hourglass took its sweet time I e-mailed them asking where it was and they said if it didn't arrive in the next few days they'd send another. Nice. The Patapon demo is on the playstation store! I'm not overly impressed actually... I don't think I'll bother with it unless it's cheap somewhere. I ordered singstar from amazon and it's taking its sweet time... I may jump boat to play.com.
