Update: What VC games do you want?- Podcast Now Up
solitanze replied to Conor_NE's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Three games I want to see on the Virtual Console in particular [one for each Nintendo system, NES, SNES & N64]: For the Nintendo Entertainment System I want to see the "original" Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy 1 the 1st game that has created one of the longest running and most successful game series ever. I believe it never was released in PAL regions, if it was, disregard it. For Super Nintendo, I'd like to see Earthbound - Absolutely essential, never released in PAL regions and a really unique game it is. For the Nintendo 64, the game i'd like to see in particular is Sin and Punishment: Successor to the Earth. An arcade on rails shooter that unfortunately wasn't released in PAL regions, another good game not experienced by people in PAL regions. -

It'd be a sure fire way for me to turn certain people off from playing this game ever, but I'd encourage people to play the game in an attempt to shift a few more Wii consoles, they can do with the additional support [Nintendo that is]. The thing that annoys me most about Wii Sports is not the game itself or its average ratio. but the fact it doesn't come with an original white game case/boxart but instead just a cheap cardboard slip, I feel as though i'm beeing "Stooged" here. Disappointing indeed.

Cassamassinas post Wii thoughts: Post Wii Thoughts and Observations Uh-oh. I got home tonight and I can feel that tickle in the back of my throat -- the one which says, "Get ready, man, because you've got a nasty cold coming." I could be down for the count through the Thanksgiving holiday if it turns out to be true, which would suck, but at least I'm finally done with some major reviews, including everything from Zelda and Monkey Ball to Rayman and Red Steel. I've still got a pile of reviews left -- SpongeBob, Happy Feet, Splinter Cell, etc. -- but these are not quite as pressing as the Wii exclusives. Anyway, with all the madness leading up to Wii launch, I couldn't find the time to collect my thoughts about the system and its games. I have some observations, some good and some bad. Here they are in quick sentence buckshots: 1. I officially love the controller. Navigating menus with the Wii remote is top notch. Going back to a traditional controller feels archaic and somehow wrong. Also loving the Wii remote for games like Zelda, Monkey Ball, Rayman and Trauma Center. 2. Loving the Mii system. I was afraid this would be gimmicky and pointless, but I have spent hours upon hours creating dozens of friends and family. Seeing recognizable faces in Wii Sports is just cool. 3. Barely used the Photo Channel, but it has potential. As a side note, I wish I could hook up a printer to Wii so that I could actually do something more with the Channel. 4. I've downloaded six games from the Virtual Console service. That being said, I am utterly disappointed with the Wii Shop Channel and WiiConnect24 as a whole. With the exception of sending Miis to friends, I believe that Nintendo has so far created a totally claustrophobic online network -- one that dismisses community and encourages singularity. I imagine rabid fans will argue against me, but honestly, I fired off some messages to Peer over the Wii message board the other night and they took five to 10 minutes to arrive on his system. I've added some Wii friends to my system, but they remain totally inactive anyway until they add me back. Even the process of browsing the Wii Shop Channel seems rushed. Why aren't these game lists cached using WiiConnect24? Why do I have to 'connect' to the Shop Channel at all? When I'm on Xbox Live, I can browse everything instantly. 5. Wii Sports Bowling continues to be awesome. 6. I wish I could save Virtual Console games to SD Card. It turns out, you can only store game save files and Wii Channels -- like the Opera browser, apparently -- to SD Card. 7. I hope the second USB 2.0 slot will support a USB hard drive in the future. 8. None of my friends' Mii characters have appeared in Mii Parade yet. 9. The classic controller is cool. 10. One thing that really bugged me early on is that my Wii remote seemed to glitch out when playing on my plasma at home. I evrentually figured out that this was happening because I was playing from about 10 feet away. This pissed me off very, very much and I was about ready to rant about the limitations of the technology, but first I went into Wii Settings and upped the sensitivity of the sensor bar to the max. That fixed everything. If you've had similar problems then follow my lead and you'll be happy. 11. I really wish at least one "Wii Ware" was avaiable at system launch. 12. Nintendo really dropped the ball on Wii component cables. In this day and age, I can't believe it again forgot that users might really want to play its software in 480p. The fact that these cables sold out immediately -- everywhere -- should be a big wake up call. 13. Every person I have introduced to Wii is very impressed, if not blown away by the system. 14. Every kid I know who has seen Rayman Raving Rabbids totally loves the bunnies and the game. 15. I really wish Nintendo would make Excitebike 64 available on the Virtual Console. For some reason, I really want to play it, but can't find my old copy. 16. The load times between Wii Channels are stupid. I hope Nintendo can figure out a way to make them speedier. 17. I don't like the way I can hear my system re-checking the disc drive every time I exit a Wii Channel. 18. I enjoy using the A and B trigger buttons to pick things up -- whether they be Mii characters or actual Wii Channels. 19. Zelda rocks in just about every way. 20. Strangely, you can drag your Wii Channels over to the next page simply by picking them up and "mousing" over the arrow. However, you can't drag Wii Message Board posts over to the next day in the same fashion. Neither can you edit your Message Board posts. I hope future firmware updates address these incredibly minor issues. There you have it. Right off the top of my head and into the blog. All things said and done, I am very impresed with what Nintendo has achieved with Wii so far and I'm really looking forward to next year's lineup. I think the console is going to go over big for hardcore and casual gamers alike.

Emphasise the severe limitations the game has and criticise it like theres no tomorrow while they're playing, it should turn them off the game.

^------------------------- Most scores there are reasonable, [as in close to what the game actually deserves]

Americans say its too easy [due to heart damage not puzzles] Japanese say its too hard [probably due to the puzzles]. Its ironic that they of all people found this game too hard seeing that they are supposed to be one of the smartest races on the planet. I guess it is consistent with their generally poor taste in games as well. The scores good though 38/40, a satisfactory score overall. -
HMV = the worst f**king retailer in Britain
solitanze replied to darthbane2k's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Grapevine is a business term for unofficial word of mouth, attach negative to it and you have verbal communication via human mouths that is bad. So in this case it would involve Darth doing what hes doing now going to every single possible forum he can go to and complaining about HMVs business practices, making a video and posting on Youtube like some people are doing, talking to family/friends about it, telling random people on the streets and shouting them lunch, even getting random women and maybe men and give them sexual favours in exchange for listening to his story to STAND UP TO THE EVILS OF A PARTICULAR SEGMENT OF THE CORPORATE WORLD. -

Indeed you have. Use the power of negative grapevine to hamper their sales. -
Far Cry is delayed till December sometime, will probably release around a similar date to Elebits as its a launch window game now.

Always though the PS3s top looked like a Grill/Barbeque and/or one of those fancier printer models.

^-- As per above.

I'm all for this game having a particular focus on graphics and pushing the Wiis hardware to the limits, it acts as a distraction to any control issues the game may have.

The Wind Waker really had two things going for it that made it a stand out title, the graphical style and travelling via sea, it had a greater degree of originality about it, consequently it felt fresh to a lot of people. Twilight Princess though, just breathes OOT upgrade and you see through the screenshots and videos and which is why a lot of people such as the most recent review, posted above feel as though its nothing new... Unfortunately, this is really the last time Nintendo can make a Zelda game like this on a console before it gets heavily penalised and criticised and the series reputation is damaged.

http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=744393 ^-- Only gives Twilight Princess 8.5/10 majorly stuffs up average, drops all the way to 96.5%, not happy, in serious threat of dropping out of the top 5 now. Need some more lenient reviewers to score the game 9.5 and above... On a side note, Gamespot are one of the only sites at the moment that are reviewing Virtual Console games and funny enough, they are scoring higher than most Wii launch games. Heres some reasonable POLL RESULTS: How do you think this weekend's launches of the Wii and PlayStation 3 went? Nintendo's looked fun. Sony's looked frightening. (33%) 4,712 Sony's looked fun. Nintendo's looked frightening. (2%) 419 They both pretty much sold-out... I'd call that a success. (20%) 2,866 Once again, first-parties fail to make enough consoles for customers. What up with that? (18%) 2,605 I just beat Gears of War on Hardcore! What was the question again!? (24%) 3,500

I actually bought this game and completed all 14 levels of this game, 7 of them dedicated to flying through rings. The only thing I liked about this game was the opening menu when you turn on the game, thats it. Have a look at its average ratio: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/198862.asp

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Snatches the lead from all these other games and this corresponds with its ultimate 97.7% all time highest average ratio.

My reactions are in "the review thread". Made my year almost, will make my year officially if heading into 2007, it still has an average ratio of about 96.5%. But nontheless, its time for US to rejoice. The game can now officially be recognised as an all time classic and now most certainly can hold the title of one of the best games of all time and 100% officially the most successful PORT of all time. -
FINALLY [been waiting over 72 hours for this]... Red Steel IGN Review: http://wii.ign.com/articles/746/746975p1.html Have a careful read, the review isn't all that bad, its the ONE MAJOR fundamental flaw of control that drops the games score massively. The closing comments sums up this point...

^-- JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED! :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: :awesome: But... I am still slightly concerned that this game has increased by .3 points: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/928234.asp I will be still monitoring Twilight Princess over the next few months as more review scores come to make sure its average ratio remains at about the 96.5% level. But this was ultimately what I wanted the game to achieve and thus for Nintendo to fulfill their promise about this game being the best Zelda game ever made, my MINIMUM benchmark was for it to get an average ratio of 96.00% and surpass Resident Evil 4, but having it be the second highest rated game of all time was my ultimate dream and for now its been realised until better games come out or more scores of a similar nature to Gamespot are issued by reviewers. I do not expect, nor do I want this game to surpass OOT though.

There'd be no point in me getting this game if I stumbled across this video and to avoid seeing it, I won't search for it.
