Can't remember if this was already mentioned so excuse me if I'm repeating something but another thing on Xbox is every weekend they tend to make 2 or 3 games free to play for Xbox live gold members under the title "free play days", usually selected to coincide with said games being included in deals with gold discounts, so even without game pass you still get to try quite a few games which maybe you wouldn't normally if you had to buy them. As someone who very rarely plays any online multiplayer I really don't get much value from NSO, but Xbox live gold pays for itself with all the extra discounts and things thrown in, even without including the games with gold offerings.

Your prediction for a Mario sports title has got me thinking I really want a new Mario Strikers game...
-
Yeah it is certainly enjoyable and I would recommend anyone with even a slight interest in it to definitely give it a go. Hellblade is another that I will definitely give a playthrough at some point and I'm looking forward to see what they put out under Microsoft. Not at all interested in their first reveal since the buyout, Bleeding Edge, though.

A little idea - can you use spoiler tags when revealing a transition tunes answer? I now know the answer before I've had a chance to listen to the episode

I thought I'd contribute rather than just read for a change so here's what I've finished so far this year: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch): I would rank the original Xenoblade Chronicles as one of my all time favourite games, but Xenoblade Chronicles X never really clicked with me so I didn't know where I would fall on this one. I was very pleased to find it felt much more like the original and once I got used to the battle system changes (stack as many elements as possible before using the chain attacks) I found it hard to put down. I didn't bother trying to unlock all the rare blades, but I do plan to go back and play again with the new game plus feature so maybe I will do that then. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (Xbox 360): This one has been on my list of things I'd like to play for a fair few years but I just never got around to it. Decided it was finally time so tracked down a cheap copy and gave it a go. Nothing special just a very enjoyable third person action adventure game. I would say the controls felt a bit stiff at times but nothing game breaking. Also the ending came a bit out of nowhere and I don't really know if I feel like it resolved very well. Not sure what's next on my list to play, have such a backlog it usually takes a while to decide on something!

N64 games included for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Probably more wishful thinking on my part but with how slow the updates to the NES and SNES apps have been plus I remember reading something about Nintendo stating they needed to find a way to add value to the service as not many people were renewing their subscription, I think this could happen sooner rather than later. I also predict it will launch with only around 5 games (Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Kirby 64 and Pilot wings 64) and almost never be updated with new games again!

What Will You Be Buying & Playing Before The End Of The Year?
Ealdst replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
So, continuing this for the new year, my new year's resolution is to not buy nearly so much stuff and get through some of the horrendously large backlog I have instead. There's a couple of games I know I will be buying however, namely Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and Animal Crossing. So now I'm just awaiting that Jan/Feb direct full of announcements that make me break my resolution! -
SNES posters get! Just been delivered and look very nice. I really need to get some frames and find some wall space in the games room (spare bedroom)...

No real story, it's as simple as a slight variation on my surname that a few people used to call me back in school. However I'm also used to people getting my surname wrong too whether they are writing or pronouncing it. My poor fiancée has this to look forward to soon .

I was wondering how you'd get on with pronouncing my username . @londragon got it spot on! Another good podcast guys, would love to take a guess at this week's music but I haven't got a clue!

As predominantly Nintendo gamers, what game(s) would you like to see ported to Switch that have never been on a Nintendo console. This is a pure fantasy opinion so feel free to list any game from any era - whether it is technically feasible or not and if it's a licensing nightmare or not is not important .

Funnily enough I just received an email to say the SNES posters have now shipped, wonder if they will be the right ones this time
-
Did anyone who ordered the SNES posters have them shipped yet? I ordered these and had a dispatch email, but then received another telling me there had been an error and a Splatoon 2 poster set had been sent by mistake but the correct set would be sent as soon as possible and I didn't need to send the Splatoon ones back! Sure enough a package then arrived containing the Splatoon posters.

Another thought, have you got another cable to try it with? If you are using the controller in wired mode and there is a bad connection with the cable then maybe that's causing the disconnect and pushing the button is causing it to reconnect again wirelessly?

Finally got my copy yesterday having not been in for the delivery on Thursday (@BowserBasher - I also bought from the Nintendo Store with the Boo plushie and mine was in a much more sensibly sized box so not sure what they were thinking with yours!). Only played for a few hours but loving it so far, I never picked up the 3DS game - hoping that will get a Switch remaster - but this takes me right back to playing the original! The only thing I've struggled with a little is the controls. I'm fine with the motion controls for vertical movement, it's more the horizontal that is sometimes catching me out.

What Will You Be Buying & Playing Before The End Of The Year?
Ealdst replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah I'm usually checking a minimum of 2 or 3 times a day for restocks or new pre-orders going live as they tend to sell out so fast. I'm not looking for a full collection regarding Smash, mostly just the ones from my favourite game series within the cast and ones I think look cool. Originally I was only going to get 1 or 2, now I have a shelf full of them! At the moment the main ones I want restocked are Pacman and Megaman as I missed these originally. There's a few (mostly the 30th anniversary ones, and the bokoblin and guardian BotW ones), but I have them all on order thanks to the first restock they did. Just awaiting them actually being shipped! I believe the current estimates date is the 2nd December. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -

Luigi's Mansion is on the way, and Pokémon Sword pre-ordered. Other than that I think I will just be trying to clear the backlog a bit for the rest of the year. Also waiting for the all the Legend of Zelda series Amiibos that I'm missing and the as yet unreleased Smash series ones to be dispatched! Oh and waiting to see if Ring Fit Adventure has any black Friday discounts... Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -
N-Europe's Top 10 (Voting over, check first post for results)
Ealdst replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Been a while since I posted on here, but this is one list I feel the need to add some input to, as the Wii got so unfairly labelled as a casual and/or shovelware machine when there are many overlooked gems on there! I nominate the following, deliberately avoiding some of the more obvious games that will no doubt receive enough nominations anyway: Xenoblade Chronicles Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure Muramasa: The Demon Blade Pandora's Tower A Shadow's Tale Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -
So, I have finally upgraded my 3DS xl to a New 3DS xl (Metroid Edition) and did not take into account the switch of SD card format to Micro SD, so now I do not have enough space to redownload all my games. Any recommendations as to which card to get? I’m guessing 64gb should be enough as that’s what I had in my old 3DS. Also noticed there is only 1 model of 3DS on Nintendo’s official uk store now, the animal crossing one - could it be that it’s finally going to be discontinued now the Switch has proven a success? Still plenty of 2DS models on there though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’d like to see a new Wave Race and F-Zero as it has been far too long since there was a new game in either franchise, but most importantly I want to know what Retro have been working on... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The N-Europe top 10 Nintendo games of all time.
Ealdst replied to Nicktendo's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Ok, I don't post much here but I love a good list so here goes: 10. Splatoon (not picked up the sequel yet) 9. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest 8. Waverace 64 7. Metroid Prime 6. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door 5. Super Mario 64 4. Pokemon Gold/Silver 3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 2. Xenoblade Chronicles 1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
So I ended up picking this up as my girlfriend said it would be something she'd like to play. Having agreed with the opinion that it seemed a bit expensive I can actually see this being well worth the £35 I paid. Most games we tried were good fun even without any alcohol being involved and we have good friends that live no more than 5 minutes walk away so meeting up of a weekend and bringing this along could be quite a regular thing. Some of the mini games seem to be scored randomly though (specifically the pose matching and air guitar ones come to mind) and I think plate spinning could very easily lead to things being broken around the house! So, Switch arrived 2 hours ago. Smaller than I expected but feels well made. I didn't order a pro controller yet but the joycons in the grip are more than comfortable enough until I have some spare funds. Now, back to Zelda... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
