Spider Guardian now defeated, I was expecting this to be horrible given the reputation the boss has but I actually really enjoyed the more puzzle like approach to the fight. I do however realise the difficulty was toned down for the Trilogy release, to those who have completed both original and Trilogy versions, how much harder was the Gamecube version really?
-
Well I finished Prime 1 a while ago but decided to take a break before starting the 2nd one, mostly as I never managed to get into it back on the Gamecube. So anyway, I started Echoes yesterday and I have just defeated the Boost Guardian and loving the experience so far. It is so much better than I remember! If not quite level with the first game it certainly isn't far behind.

Well, I had this preordered but cancelled as the demo didn't click with me. After reading through all the positivity in this thread I tried the demo again and now the game is on its way to me

I genuinely loved it too, admittedly the story is 'iffy' to say the least, but I thought gameplay wise it was excellent, and that counts above anything else. I never go into a game expecting the story to be great so if it is it's a bonus, if it's not I'm not going to let that interfere with my enjoyment. Back on topic tho, after playing Pikmin 3 I think a 3DS Pikmin game would be awesome, and I would also like to see NNIDs used on 3DS as well as Wii U with the ability to transfer purchases between the 2. And 3DS Miiverse too!
-
This is my first Pikmin game too, but loving it so much that I've picked up the new play control versions of both Pikmin 1 and 2 to play through sometime as well!

Yesterday I had something even worse! Literally as the end of day counter finished I put my arms down to my side and somehow the game picked that up as me shaking the nunchuk, 100 Pikmin lost instantly. Had to replay the day after that (although on the plus side I wound up doing a much better job of the day second time round).

With that price cut I might well pick up Nano Assault Neo.....

I had a notification for a new system update to be installed this morning, anyone know what it does?

I so want to try this game, never played an Animal Crossing game before but reading this thread has made me want to. Gonna have to wait til payday tho .

Sorry for digging up such an old thread, but after recently finallly going through Metroid: Other M (which personally I feel gets a bit too much criticism, I'll admit the story isn't brilliant but purely from a gameplay point of view I thought it was very good) and enjoying playing through Super Metroid on Wii U VC so much I thought I should dig this out as it has been sitting untouched on my shelf for a while. Now I have previously finished Prime 1 on Gamecube but never got into Prime 2 as much at the time, but I thought it was only right to start from the very beginning, and I forgot how great the first Prime is! Have just reached Magmoor Caverns for the first time so not that far in, I do seem to be going through this more easily than before - I know they balanced the difficulty in the second game for this release but were there any changes to Prime 1? Could just be because the Wiimote and Nunchuk control setup is infinitely better than the Gamecube controller was tho (or less likely I am better at games in general now lol).

That screenshot takes me back! If you had any game that needed the tape to be turned over during the loading process you knew you had a slim chance of getting it to work.... As Londragon said, kids these days really don't know how good they have things. That said I agree that load times like the ones in this game really should be a thing of the past, the fact that you need to sit through a full on loading screen before you even get to the start menu is terrible. Love everything else about it tho!

Conker's Bad Fur Day was a quality game but there were some very frustrating sections (I'm thinking of the escape from the Tediz base specifically here), but it definitely holds up despite these. As someone that owns both the original N64 version and the Xbox remake I always find it amusing that the N64 version is actually less censored, so much for Nintendo being the 'kiddy' platform and the xbox being the 'mature' one!

The update fixes the leaderboards kinda - it now uploads your scores to leaderboards but I'm finding that my scores are being uploaded under random names or even my high scores being uploaded to my gfs NNID which is very annoying!

I'm with you on this, I don't get the general dissatisfaction with Mario Kart 7.

Game.co.uk have reduced their price to £29.99, I have sent a price matching email to Shopto.net on this, hopefully they follow suit anyway.

Off the top of my head there were 3 Fifa games and World Cup '98 by EA on the N64, I'm sure there was at least 1 Madden and PGA Tour game too. Can't think of anything that wasn't a sports game tho. I am slightly worried for future Nintendo consoles at this point tho, if Nintendo can't turn the Wii U's fortunes around then I know it won't kill them as a company but I have a feeling they could wind up leaving the home console market and focus solely on handheld hardware. Hopefully my feeling is completely wrong on this tho!

I am definitely going to buy the boxed release, it screams out future collectable lol!

All this talk of a new Waverace and/or 1080 is making me remember how much I loved those games, mostly the N64 Waverace rather than Blue Storm tho. Also a new Excitebike game would be good, loved Excitebike 64 even tho I was completely crap at it!

As a purely off the top of my head crazy idea, Next Level Games new project announced to be a Wii U Mario Strikers game

Just cleared this from my backlog, I have to say although I enjoyed it I think it is my least favourite of the 3 "Operation Rainfall" titles, yet I was expecting to like it the most of the 3 before I played any of them! My main problem was the combat rarely needed too much more than running up to enemies and slashing away at them, which meant when some of the boss battles actually required some tactics I had to remember what all the special moves did . That and the frame rate would drop so much in some fights that timing guard counters became extremely tricky.
-
To raise another debate back up again - if only they had put analogue triggers on the gamepad I'd agree, but unless the Wii U gets some decent steering wheel support I currently won't be buying any realistic racing games for it!

Shadow of the Eternals ('Eternal Darkness 2' - Kickstarter)
Ealdst replied to Retro_Link's topic in Nintendo Gaming
If this happened then this E3 would be awesome just on that alone . -
Dammit, never heard of this one before so thought this was going to be a new game, and now I'm interested! Why did it have to be an old limbo/canned game .
-
I have to say I'm quite disappointed by only 2 titles this week, I was expecting/hoping for at least 4-5 a week. Given how much the Wii VC title releases dried up as time went on it doesn't leave me feeling very confident that the Wii U will even have everything from the Wii service by the time Nintendo are launching their next console.

I haven't finished reading everything in this thread (posting this from about halfway through page 4) but feel the need to put one point out there to all the people saying that this is a disaster because there will be no coverage from general press. Go talk to anyone you know who is not a gamer about E3, they will probably have a vague idea of what you are talking about at best. If we are talking completely mainstream media (Radio 1's Newsbeat, tabloid newspapers etc) then all they will ever talk about gaming wise is any new hardware launch or franchises like Call of Duty or Fifa. The majority of people on here seem to be blinded by their own knowledge - because we as gamers know E3 to be this huge event that traditionally holds all the big announcements for the year we seem to think that it's a lot more widely known than it actually is. Yes it will get a mention to the everyday 'man on the street' but if you think anything other than the briefest of highlights will be covered then you are wrong!
