My Game order (Switch with neon Joycons, Zelda limited edition) has been in packing since Tuesday but no dispatch yet. The money has been taken from my account though so I am confident it will arrive tomorrow. Also tomorrow booked off so fingers crossed for a morning delivery, even though will probably turn up when I would have been home from work anyway! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch
Ealdst replied to darkjak's topic in Nintendo Gaming
To answer the question about where the line is, for me there isn't one. If a game is delayed by 10 years then whether or not I still buy it depends on the quality of the finished product and whether or not I have the relevant hardware at that time. It may be frustrating when a game I'm anticipating is delayed but there's always other things to keep you occupied in the meantime, it's not going to impact on a purchase decision for me. Oh dear, really that bad? Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii had an awesome soundtrack, how could they get it so wrong this time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So, finally I'm getting around to playing this! Loved the Wii game but just haven't found the time for this one until now! I've only done the first few chapters so far (got to the point where I pick my division) but surprised at just how different this feels to the previous game despite the mechanics being pretty much the same short of long/melee range weapon switching. Also the beginning is very slow paced so feel like I've only just started to actually play the game. So far though I can see me enjoying this, the only thing that I have found disappointing so far is the music, which to my ears isn't anywhere close to the standard of the Wii title (of course I'm open to the fact that there could be some great music to come as I'm only just starting out) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another NES kid here, remember getting it for Christmas with Dr Mario (pack in), Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest and Turbo Racing. I can remember playing Simon's Quest for years without having a clue what I was doing and only being able to find the first mansion, it wasn't until I found a book that was based on the story for the game and contained tips for it in the mobile library that I managed to finish it! Despite all the hate that game gets and even the frustration I had with it I have so many fond memories of playing it. Have been a Nintendo person ever since, owning just about every Nintendo console and handheld except the virtual boy, and still own all of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Whenever I mention the Wii at work I still get people saying the system was just full of shovelware and had no games worth playing, and yet my Wii is the system I have bought most games for. Despite being underpowered it still produced some graphical masterpieces (I still think Muramasa: The Demon Blade is one of the best looking games on any system ever), and as always even if the graphics were not up to the standard of the 360 and PS3 it's the gameplay that counts, and games like Xenoblade, Mario Galaxy, Monster Hunter and many more were more than worthy of anyone's time. Needless to say I love the Wii, and I agree with the sentiment that it could arguably be the greatest console ever!

Just had an epic race on 150cc Piranha Plant Pipeway - stole the win right on the line. Unfortunately got screwed over on the last corner of Rainbow Road costing me my stars . MKTV footage:

Nintendo Store dispatch email received, also dispatched via courier (yodel) with tracking number so very hopeful of the game arriving tomorrow

Also "Awaiting despatch" from the Nintendo online store, but I did send an enquiry regarding if they were shipping in time for launch, their response was "We anticipate customers will receive Mario Kart 8 on or before the release date" so here's hoping!!!

Gamers - What Are You Playing At The Moment?
Ealdst replied to Fierce_LiNk's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I'm not one for selling games, I've traded in games in the past thinking I won't play them again and regretted it later, so now I always keep them in my collection, thanks for the offer tho. Following on from the rest of your post, funnily enough I elected to play Donkey Kong Country Returns as originally I only played the first couple of levels then for no real reason stopped playing it. What was it you didn't like about the game? To me although not quite up there with the original DKC trilogy it isn't far short. -

Starfox Adventure's completed, overall left me feeling meh, not a bad game per se but definitely nothing special, certainly not something I see myself playing through again in the future! Now to decide what to play next from my backlog.... -
Just gonna leave this here....

#07 - N-Europe: Let's Talk Games (Metroid: Other M)
Ealdst replied to Fused King's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Retrospectively if I actually think about the story I would 100% agree with the criticism levelled at it, it's just not something I paid much attention to while I was playing the game so it didn't detract from my enjoyment of it. I do realise I'm very much in the minority as generally I do not care about storyline in most games, so just wanted to offer a different perspective on things. -
Just got an RGB Scart cable to replace the standard composite cables on my 'Cube (would have gone component if it wasn't for the £120+ price people are asking for them, crazy!), can't believe the difference this cable makes to the picture quality - so much sharper and the colours do not look as washed out as they did before.

This is one of the first things I always see people mention when discussing the story of this game, but also illustrates the point I made in my post that I personally only really look at story as a means to link sections of a game together. From a purely story point of view I will agree the section does not sit well, however I didn't even consider this until after reading people's opinions having already played it. My personal experience of this section was from a purely gameplay point of view where it was just a tense dash to make it out of the area alive, with only a few mistakes being the difference between success and game over. I genuinely think this was the intention behind the particular sequence of the game, and the permission thing was probably just because they wanted to do something a little different to the standard 'Samus starts the game then something happens that causes her to lose her abilities' setup. -

I only played this one last year, so I had heard more bad things about it than good so was actually pleasantly surprised by the amount I enjoyed the game. I think everything I found an issue with has already been mentioned (stand here til you find pixel x, 3d movement controlled with the d-pad), but the one thing that is always mentioned in a bad light that didn't bother me is the story element - although I'm the kind of gamer that apart from a few exceptions only see's story as an excuse to link gameplay segments together and really do not care much beyond that how generic/terrible it may be! I'd sum this up by saying it's a lot of fun even if nowhere near as good as Super Metroid or Metroid Prime, and as it only cost me £8 brand new and can be found this cheap pretty much everywhere it's one of the best gaming bargains out there at the moment for anyone who hasn't yet played it. -

Currently playing through Starfox Adventures as I never played it back in the day. Was not really expecting much given the general negativity that is always thrown towards the game but finding it's not too bad, tho certainly not a patch on Rare's N64 output. Also think I would rather Rare had stuck with their original concept rather than shoe horn in the Starfox brand, somehow it does seem to detract from the game as it just doesn't seem to fit. -
The Wavebird Appreciation Thread
Ealdst replied to Falcon_BlizZACK's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I generally use my wired controller over my Wavebird, but purely because I prefer to have the rumble. If the Wavebird had rumble it would probably be my favourite controller of all time, give it clickable analogue sticks and a second 'Z' button on the left shoulder and you have the controller I think Nintendo should use for their next console.... -

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, I will certainly try and pick up a few of them.

My girlfriend had her 3DS stolen last month, made an enquiry with Nintendo and they wanted a copy of the police report, the serial number of the console (luckily that is on the box which wasn't stolen!) and a proof of purchase for the console before they would review whether they would reinstate the purchase history to a new unit. With that sent to them she still hasn't heard anything back a few weeks later. In other words with the current lack of account system I wouldn't hold out much hope for getting your downloads back!
