Is it just me, or does anyone else think the the new C&C 3 : Tiberium Wars game was born to be played on the Wii? :o)

I know that EA have confirmed that it will be available on the XBox 360 but I'm not sure whether the Wii would be capable in terms of graphics processing power in order to port the game across.

Can't wait to get my hands on Red Steel and Zelda:TP....not long now!!! :o)

Think those sorts of games need either a hard-drive or quite good processors for the AI and shizzle.

I'd say no solely because the demographic of a RTS gamer is typically PC only.

People say how the Wiimote will be perfect for these sorts of games but I'm not so sure.

I think a mouse has the accuracy and the keyboard has the functionality.

You don't need THAT much keyboard for RTS games Nintendork. I hardly use it that much appart from shift and a few others. The nunchuck could be used for a few 'keyboard' shortcuts, most of them aren't needed on RTS games anyway, not from what I've found with all the C&Cs, Empire at War, Warcraft etc anyway :heh:

And I'm sure the Wiimote's accurate enough. I wouldnt't bet on a C&C Wii though.

I'd like to see an RTS style Advance Wars to be honest. I don't know how well it would work, but i reckon it could be made to work quite well. With more than 2 types of Infantry though :heh:

I doubt it very much, because RTS need I resolutions.

Going by that logic, Battle for Middle Earth 2 for the Xbox 360 would only work on High Definition televisions, but the demo worked and played fine on my tv. I could easily see the units and read the text. And then no PC RTS games would have 640x480 as a resolution option.

I bet it looks shit. And you don't usually see RTS games on consoles because of that.

Zomg! I thought they cancelled the C&C series!? If anything, I'll be getting this on my PC.

They confirmed this a while back...

It would be truly great if there was a Wii version.

However I doubt it quite a bit. First of all it's easy to port it to the X-360 due to the PC like architecture. For the Wii it should be downgraded and unless the Wii becomes the very dominant console within the next few month I doubt EA will put all the effort into a port they can't be sure will sell well.

After all it took the DS quite a lot of time to feature some nice RTS and he was perfect with the touchscreen.

yeah I must admit that C&C generals and zero hour didn't interest me much with the total change in story line and lack of plot. However, EA have now seemed to have brought back the whole GDI and NOD thing, reintroduced the original Kane, brand new Hollywood actors (including James "Sawyer" Ford from Lost) and brought back all the old style units and build mechanisms. We'll have to see if it matches up to the Westwood way of game play though...which i truly loved!!

I also the following post on http://www.gonintendo.com today which seems to hint that nintendo may be thinking of later expansion to the console during its lifetime:

The Wii HD rumors continue

November 21st, 2006

I have been trying to steer clear of these rumors, but they just keep coming back. I feel it is a good idea to make mention of them before things blow up even more.

Rumors continue to circulate that the Wii will see an HD update sometime in its lifespan. Nintendo will not confirm/deny this, but they have been making some interesting statements. First up is a portion of a Reggie Fils-Aime interview from USA Today. We posted on this a few days ago.

“Tough choices about not including a DVD player at the start, tough choices about not including high-definition capability at the start. That’s because we wanted a mass-market price, and we believe the market will validate those decisions come launch day on this Sunday.â€

Now Game Informer got in touch with Nintendo to discuss this comment, and a Nintendo rep answered with this statement.

“(paraphrasing) Microsoft was able to patch the Xbox 360 to support 1080p. After all, Nintendo has already released a patch to allow Wii gamers to transfer game saves to SD cards.â€

Make of that what you will. Who knows what the Big N will do in the future. They may not even know themselves.

interesting read i must admit!! But I think Nintendo have done the right thing in leaving HD support out for the meantime, especially in Europe...because the current price for HD technology is still very expensive.

For me,the c+c franchise died the day Westwood was bought by EA...

No, not at all. I don;t count Generals and Zero Hour as TRUE C&C games to be honest, and I never played them. But I do have every single C&C game and Red Alert game + their expansion packs.

I think the weakest game under EA was Tiberium Sun, and that was still ace. Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge were truly brilliant, I wouldn't even like to hazard a guess at the number of hours I've spent on them!

Yeah, Red Alert 2 is probably my favourite game of all time! It was ace..

I've noticed that the later C&C games starting from Yuri's Revenge are fixed and you have to complete certain levels a certain way, which is annoying.

In Yuri's Revenge, I spent hours building up an army to destroy a base rather than take it over, which I was supposed to do...I had hundreds of troops and the enemy had about 4 tanks...I went to attack their base and 100's of vehicles exploded out of the war factory in around 5 seconds. They produced so many vehicles in those 5 seconds that they were overlapping eachother and filled the entire screen...all from 1 war factory. A similar thing happened in another level! Whats the point in playing a game that is fixed.
