That Guy Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I have first complained on the red steel thread but this one (the zelda part) whould go here, so... Well Jeff Gerstmann... go play your 10 hour game, Gears of War over and over again and drool over the graphics and DD 5.1 soundtrack. the tech-whores. Well Gears of War is an absolutely fantastic game, fully deserving of the score I think. I think some people are a little blinded by fanboyism here. I'm guessing you've never played GoW? Or Zelda TP for that matter. *Goes back to 360 thread*
gaggle64 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Wait, has anyone actually mentioned the other Gamespot reviews yet? Anyway, Trauma Centre just made the top 3 of my "must buy" list. I'll be hoarse from shouting "Clear!!" in no time. Cannae wait. Gamespot- Trauma Centre- 8.0 Monkey Ball Banana Blitz- 8.3
Mike Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I'm glad that the main things that Matt didn't like in Zelda were the lack of voice acting (that would be horrible in Zelda); MIDI music (there's nothing wrong with it, IMO, if it's done well); and the graphics (I've not really seen much footage of 360 or PS3 games, so I've only really got previous gen games to compare it to anyway ). The only thing that really bothered me was the fact that some bits seem overly-familiar, but even that's a minor quibble. I still can't believe it'll be better than OOT, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it more than The Wind Waker.
Nintendork Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 GameSpot is so big that if it gives a bad review to a big game, the publisher will have things to say to GameSpot. Perhaps only truely impartial reviews will come from the blogosphere this generation. Because bloggers and independants are accountable to no-one.

Zell Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 From the IGN reviews, it looks like wii has a pretty strong launch. Zelda: 9.5 Madden: 8.5 Super Monkey Ball: 8.4 Rayman: 8.3 Excite Truck: 8.0 Trauma Centre: 8.0 Call Of Duty: 7.7 Wii Sports: 7.5 Tony Hawk's: 7.0

Now I'm not bashing Gears, sure it's a great game, i'm bashing the diference in review scores. still if I was to emit opinion... gears is undestandably a above 9.0 game (much due to package and graphics), but then again nowhere near a zelda game.
Dante Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Edge 170 scores Zelda - 9 Gears of War - 8 Final Fantasy XII - 9 Wii Sports - 7 Red Steel - 5 Tony Hawks Project VIII - 8 Rainbow Six Vegas -6 Vice City Stories - 7 Call of Duty III - 7 Sonic - 3 (xbox360/Ps3) Medieval II - 8 Dark Messiah - 7 Super Monkey Ball - 7 Guitar Hero II - 8 Neverwinter Nights II - 8 Railroad's - 6 Need for Speed Carbon - 6 Lumines II - 6
Nintendork Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 "while this PG-rated tale of ninja gaijin targets the J-cool of Kill Bill it barely hits straight-to-video Steven Seagal" AHAHAHAHHAHAHA best closing comments ever.

Zell Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Red Steel actually got 5.5 from Gamespot. Funny how NGamer gave it 90...
Stocka Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Red Steel gets 7.8 from Gametrailers. What a rollercoaster this game is. The excitement since it was revealed has been up and down and now the reviews are extremely mixed. I think i'll possibly still get it, the IGN review could influence my decison quite a bit.

I think i'll possibly still get it, the IGN review could influence my decison quite a bit. Hmmm well despite thinking some screenshots looked good I was never convinced enough to add it to my Wii games at launch - looks like I made the right decision its just not up to scratch - developers really need to get the controls perfect for a fps. Now all this commotion over Gamespot giving Zelda 8.8. I really dont see what the big deal is: Edge gives zelda a 9 = 90% (nobody complains about this) Gamespot gives Zelda 8.8 = 88% (everybody starts whining - its a 2% difference in opinion - get a grip!) Phew - glad to get that off my chest!
gmanprime Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 GI gave it zelda 10/10 and in my opinion they are about as unbiased ass it gets. Edit: I acidentaly wrote the word ass.

Funny how Gamespot gave it 5.5... It also works the other way around. IMO, Gamespot's didn't make a review they bashed the game heavily.
