Wii still is and always will be a crap name. i think it and so do alot of people. it was given this name for impact purposes only no matter what nintendo say. has it worked? it has worked better than probably nintendo expected. is it genious? undoubtedly. is it a good name for a console? not a cat in hells chance.

yes i have got used to it because i love the name and always have!

Yes it's a little strange, but it looks cool on the console!

I still like the name. It took a while to get used to (well, half an hour), but it's a work of genius, imo.

Plus, it shows they've got ball when they decided to stick to their guns even though the initial reaction was bad. The complete opposite of Sony who can't seem to make their mind up about anything these days.

the crossover of "wii" and "we" is what convinced me.

Statements when you aren't sure it it is

"we" console (Wii)

"we" Nintendo

"we" the community

"we" all of the above

some people will take a while longer to accept it (possibly till after launch) but thats the way it is, at the end of the day we all mature at different rates, there are a couple of guys in my office who are almost twice my age, but they act more like they are almost half my age.

I also noticed this throughout the E3 conference. there were many uses of the word Wii and we. This is obviously the point of the name. Wii is the name of the console, and it also refers to Nintendo as a company. Reggie was saying what "we" as a company are offering this, and Wii as a product is offering this, but he was able to do so by saying we just the once.

Im used to the name now, it sounds pretty good, although i keep calling it revolution by accident..

Its also easier to find pictures of it now with the name Wii, revolution brought up so many weird results at school (we cant search the name nintendo).

Had an accident beause on the schools picture search when i searched wii, some nude photo's appeared..

Haha, so it's worked really well and it's a genius name, but it's not a good name for a console?

What unimaginable criteria would you impose on a name for it to be a 'good' name, in that case? That it be whispered in perfect unison by all the Gods of Olympus?

I love the name. I didn't at first, but it very quickly grew on me.

Hated the name "Wii" at first but I am used to it now. It's not great but it's not half as bad as I thought it was when I first heard it. You just get used to it like they said we would.

I'm used to it now. Not sure if I like it or not but tbh I don't really care! It's designed to be a non-word. I just really admire them for trying to seperate themselves from names that are composed of:

prefix: super-, mega-, master-, power-, X-! (wait this table isn't porn?) etc. To be fair Game- and Play- aren't all that bad.

suffix: drive, station, system, box, cube, gear, 2, 3, 360, 64 and so on...

They all just carry this techy geeky shitty tone, which frankly no normal consumer would want to go near. They just sound like the next must-buy-to-keep-your-male-ego-in-shape products. Same reason why cars don't all have testosterone charged names.

Dreamcast, there's a nice name. Gameboy too.

Anyone else with me?

This is a quote from Mr. Iwata:

There were some criteria for us to come up with the name. It had to be short enough so that we didn’t need any other nicknames or abbreviation. What we are targeting with Wii is not only existing gamers, but also people who have shown no interest in other games. These nongamers, for example, really cannot understand what GBA means, if GBA is something different from Game Boy Advance. We wanted something with a strong impact that people will remember as soon as they hear it.

This is a nice explanation. Wii is easily remembered by everyone, and cannot be mistaken for something else. I think it is a great name.
